OOC: I'm going to try to catch something.
...
"Let's go explore a swamp. Great idea, Yuki." Sawada Yuki groaned to himself as he trudged through the swamp some more. The boggy ground had already given way several times during the day and ruined both his shoes, socks and the bottom of his jeans.
He had been careful to keep away from the more poisonous regions of the swamp but he had taken a wrong turn somewhere on the path and was now lost. The teen had released Eiji earlier to find the way back but the bird had yet to return.
"I mean, of all things to chose, I chose the swamp. I couldn't have gone with the volcano, or the beach. No I had to chose the poisonous swamp to explore." The teen gripped to himself as he finally found a dry spot to collapse on. He wiped off as much of the gunk from his jeans and sighed. "Well... at least it can't get any worse..."
The teen froze almost immediately after those words left his mouth. He knew exactly why those words should not be spoken. "Oh man, this is not going to be pretty."

Perhaps next time, Yuki should survey the land properly before collapsing onto the first patch of solid ground he finds. Crushing the eight inch tall Foongus really upset it. It's Effect Spore ability, though, would Paralyze the boy.

Yuki was looking around when he felt something off. His body was starting to feel heavy. "What the..." He then started to cough and choke on the air as the Effect Spore started to expand further out.
"Stun spore?" The teen was in trouble. He was no where near a safe place, and breathing in poison spores could be pretty bad depending on the pokemon. Yuki got up and stumbled a bit before falling again. He looked around for the source and saw a small mushroom like pokemon that oddly enough had a pokeball design on it.
He rolled over and pushed himself to a sitting position. A pokeball was thrown up into the air and released Elsie. The Altaria looked around at saw Yuki with a flushed face and an expression of pain and landed near him.
"Pokemon... spores..." The teen pointed at the Foongus. The spores were really starting to make moving difficult. "Dragon Pulse."
The cloud covered bird glared at the Foongus before opening its beak and spitting out a teal orb at it.

Foongus saw the attack coming and braced himself, but obviously not enough as he was left fainted afterward. Tipped over with X's in its eyes, the eight inch Pokemon was down for the count.

Yuki groaned as he tried to push himself up, but fell after his left arm gave out. The stun spore was really messing with his body and he felt hot. He wasn't sure if he had a temperature, but he hoped to god that it wasn't the case. He needed to be able to think straight and a fever would not help that.
Elsie made sure that the Foongus was done before flying over to Yuki and fretting over him. Yuki laughed weakly and batted the cotton like wings away from him. "I'm okay girl, just a bit weak."
"Ugh, this day has gone from bad to worse." The teen glared out at the swamp. "I have a feeling that this swamp is going to get more dangerous as the day goes by."

In a nearby swamp, a Surskit skated atop the water's surface in search of nothing in particular. It left behind pretty sine ripples as it went on about its way.
On a more vast lake beside the pond that the Surskit inhabited, a Yanma could be seen hovering about the water. Scientists would say he was looking for food beneath the surface, while poets would swear he were looking at his own reflection in mother nature's looking glass.

Elsie stood guard near her trainer as he tried to regain his strength. The spores from the Foongus had pretty much caused havoc on his body and he was having trouble moving. His arms and legs were lead and it felt like there was a weight attached to his chest which made breathing just a little difficult.
The bird saw two bug types nearby and hissed at them. Yuki looked over at his partner and rolled his eyes. "Leave'em alone Elsie... We don't want to draw... attention." The boy managed to call out weakly.
The bird looked back worriedly at her trainer but nodded. She didn't want anything to come near Yuki until he was ready to move.
Yuki watched the two bug pokemon nearby with a small grin on his face. The Surskit looked cute, not that he would admit it out loud, and the Yanma was pretty nice to look at.

The Yanma flew away, never to be seen again. But why? What had spooked him so badly? First, the surface of the water bubbled. Then, its eyes became visible. Finally, the entire beast was fully visible, crawling up out of the lagoon and onto the shore. It hummed its own name, wondering who dared get so close to its nest.
Surskit hid in a large thicket of swamp reeds and stayed clear out of Swampert's line of sight. It didn't leave just yet, but it didn't want to be seen either.

Yuki blinked as the Yanma flew away in a hurry. He wondered if it had given up looking at whatever. Then he found out why it left when a large Swampert came out of the water and onto the shore near him.
"Ahahaha... that's not good." Yuki laughed weakly and hoped that the thing was friendly. He wasn't in the best shape to fight a fully evolved pokemon. Eric might be good against him... then again he couldn't exactly reach down for any of his pokeballs at the moment.
Elsie glared at the large pokemon but kept quiet. If the pokemon got any closer she would attack, but if it just watched or left she would leave it alone.

Swampert let out a tremendous roar before glaring down at the intruder. Her nest needed to be protected, and this would be her final warning.
I sure hope he gets out of there, if he knows what's good for him.

Elsie hissed at the Swampert and flew forward to meet it. She would protect her trainer. Yuki groaned at the sight. The Swampert probably just wanted him gone, but he couldn't move.
"Typical." Yuki sighed. Well, he still couldn't move, so it would probably be best to try to scare the thing off. "Elsie, scare it off with a Dragon Breath!"
The Altaria flew forward and spat out a stream of green fire at the Swampert.

HOSTILE POKEMON ATTACKS!Paralysis Will Be Over In 1 Turn
The giant amphibian cringed at the attack sent its way by the Altaria. It would return the hostility by opening its mouth wide and released Muddy Water! The brown-tint liquid came out in a powerful jet stream as the Swampert continued to advance forward, closer to the trainer.
Oh, it shouldn't have done that.Surskit used its long legs to climb the reeds, looking through the foliage at the battle that was about to ensue.

"Aw man, it's angry." Yuki looked down at his right arm and slowly raised it. He still couldn't move that well, but his body was starting to get feeling back into it. He tried to make a fist and watched as his fingers slowly clenched into a half fist. "Hurry the damn up!"
The Muddy Water slammed into Elsie and launched it into a tree. The dragon bird... thing... got up slowly and saw the Swampert approaching her trainer.
"Ahahaha... Nice Swampert?" Yuki grinned weakly as he saw the angry Swampert getting closer to him. This was seriously not cool. He needed to get out of here. He prayed to god that the Swampert's attack hadn't knocked Elsie out and shouted out.
"Elsie, Sing!"
The bird looked over at her trainer in surprise but nodded. She started singing a lullaby to put the Swampert to sleep.

HOSTILE POKEMON ATTACKS!Paralysis Is Now Over!
As Altaria approached while singing but Swampert didn't feel even the least bit drowsy, she lunged into the air at the bird, using Take Down attack! After dealing with the giant cotton swab, she'd come back for the trainer.
Seeing the Swampert jump into the air, Surskit decided that this would be its time to shine. He began squeaking at the trainer, Surskit Surskit! It was encouraging him to try to move now. He knew Foongus's Effect Spore - it should worn out by now.

Yuki groaned when the Sing failed. He never could get that move to hit for some reason. He winced when the Swampert turned it's attention to his pokemon and tackled it fiercely. "Elsie!"
Yuki could feel his body returning to normal and slowly tried to push himself to his feet. His arms were almost usable, but his legs were another story. They weren't able to support him, and he fell once again. "Gah, damnit!"
This was just great. His body was still crap and his pokemon was getting kicked around.
"Surskit, Surskit!"
Yuki looked over to see that same Surskit from before next to him. The cute water spider was yelling at him. It sounded oddly encouraging.
Yuki grinned and laughed. "I should get out of here, huh?" He pushed himself to his feet again and was able to stand, if a bit shakily.
"Elsie, we've got to get out of here. Give him another Dragon Breath and let's go!"
The bird/dragon was hurt bad from the Take Down and didn't need to be told twice. It spat another stream of green fire at the Swampert to get it off of her and get to her trainer.

HOSTILE POKEMON ATTACKS!
Swampert came back down to the soft padding of the marshland after the Take Down attack that was successful on Altaria. Now they were all trying to get away, but she couldn't let them leave without a warning to never come back. As the stream of green fire hit her, Swampert hesitated before shaking it off and then slamming her arms into the ground, creating an Earthshake!
Surskit strugged to keep up with the human, especially once Swampert used Earthshake. Surskit was in dire need of running/escaping from hostile situations training.

Yuki was still feeling a little bit stiff from the Effect Spore and didn't have full control of his limbs. It felt like he had just run a mile and his legs were still a bit heavy. So when the Earthquake hit, he stumbled and fell into the marsh.
The teen groaned "Typical." He spat out the mud stuff that had landed in his mouth before pushing himself back to his feet.
This also placed him next to the Surskit that had yelled at him. The thing was trying to run away, but was having trouble with the Earthquake and maintaining the speed to keep up with him. So Yuki scooped the little guy up, because he didn't want him eaten by the angry Swampert and took off.
Elsie flew next to Yuki, and glared at the mud and stuff on the boy's shirt and pants. The moment they stopped running, she would be wiping all of that off. Her stupid trainer could never keep clean. It was always something. Ash from the volcano, dust from an explosion, and so on and so forth.
Yuki eventually felt like he had gotten far enough from the Swampert and stopped running. He placed the Surskit down and fell to the floor to catch his breathe. That was the moment that Elsie swooped down on him like an angel of cleaning.
"Ack! Elsie quit it!" The boy choked out as the bird attempted to get as much of the mud and grime off of him.

As the boy and his company finally made it far away from the Swampert's nest, she began to feel less inclined to destroy them. Her nest was safe and the territorial instincts that had pushed her to attack were now subsiding. Turning around, she waded back into the depths of the marsh...
Surskit had indeed been having troubles keeping up thanks to Swampert's Earthquake attack, but was surprised to find help in this trainer. After mulling it over, it was something that only made sense; he had tried to assist him earlier, and now this boy was only reciprocating the gesture. Once they were safe, Surskit remained - he liked this guy.

"Hahaha, quit it Elsie." Yuki laughed good naturedly as he fended off the Altaria and gave it a pat on the head as it trilled happily. Her trainer was safe and happy again, so she was more than content.
Yuki pushed himself to his feet again and wobbled a bit but stayed up. "Ugh, I am going to need to flush out my system later." He was feeling much better, but there was going to be a certain stiffness that was going to follow him for a day or two.
The teen looked over at the Surskit he had picked up during his rush out and knelt down next to it. Yuki was glad that the little guy hadn't run yet. He smiled at the pokemon and hoped that it didn't mind him picking it up and running before. "Hey little guy, hope you didn't mind me dragging you along with us. I didn't think that Swampert was too happy with anyone so I felt it was best if I took you with me."
The teen was curious on what the bug type was still doing here. Most wild pokemon would have probably left now that the threat was gone.

Kiiiit the water-spider Pokemon cooed before crawling up onto the trainer, using its long legs. The thing would march right up to the trainer's shoulder and stood there, very content with its current position. It smiled, not wanting to get down.

"Ack, hey, what are you doing?" Yuki blinked as the Surskit climbed up his body and then stayed on his shoulder. The trainer blinked a few times and looked over at Elsie to see if he was seeing this correctly. The bird was looking at the bug pokemon jealously as she could no longer ride there because she was too big.
"Hahaha," Yuki laughed at the Surskit and gave a half shrug with his free shoulder. "Sure, why not. You seem cute and energetic. Welcome aboard." He was far too used to these kind of situations. Eiji and the Taillow Gang, Elwood and his little tribe of Emolga, and there was the whole thing with Kenshin, and now a cute Surskit. It all seemed to fit well in Yuki's view of the world.
"Hmm, this means I need to use storage though." The teen murmured as he realized a problem. Maybe the school had a different system. He never liked keeping a pokemon in a box and he never went over a full party during his journey so he wasn't sure what he was supposed to do.
"Oh well, I'll figure out my line up later." The teen looked over at the water spider. "I don't mind you riding up there sometimes, but you do realize that you'll have to ride in one of these sometimes, right?" The teen held up a pokeball in front of the Surskit.

Sur! Sure! Surskit hopped down off of the boy's shoudler and landed on the ground in front of him. Turning around to face what would soon become his trainer (hopefully), Surskit smiled and blushed and waited for the thrown Pokeball to tap his body.

Yuki grinned at the enthusiasm that the Surskit was showing. It was a contagious energy. "Ready? Alright then." He activated the pokeball and then gently tapped it on the Surskit's head.
There was no reason to throw it after all. The ball opened and captured the water spider in a red light before sucking it inside of it. The boy looked at the ball as it shook in his hands with a smile. Though he did wonder how the storage system worked on the island.
