”TOTATOTATOTA!” the small crocodile cried out, snapping its jaws loudly to express its joy. This was the first time it had been let out of its poke ball and it was definitely a joyous occasion. It was a hot day, and the sun felt nice and warm on his scaly hide. A hot and dusty draught of wind blew past increasing the effects of the sun and the heat that was being radiated by the rocks all around him. The Totodile had never been to such a warm place before. Sure, the beach where he’d lived all his life was hot, but the temperatures here were soaring. The Totodile stared at the rocky terrain wondering how far he was from his home. He missed his old friend, the Wailmer and the Wingulls that used to soar in the sky. The sky here had no clouds and the sun shone like a huge red orb in the afternoon sky. There were absolutely no feathery creatures, which made him feel lonely.
Finally remembering that his trainer had to be somewhere around, he turned back, to face his trainer who was standing behind him stiffly, her face indiscernible. Her pink hair falling down her shoulders like a cascade of pink waters. “TOTATATA?” the totodile called out, wondering why his trainer would bring him to such a place. His trainer didn’t seem to be paying attention though. She was looking at the rocky surface that rose up in front of them. The Volcano was enormous, and the sheer size made the Totodile feel very insignificant.
“Let’s move Totodile.” Rose called out. The Totodile broke out of his reverie, only to realize that his trainer was already way ahead of him, her ultra long legs taking steps that were equal to seven of his own. He tried to keep pace with her, waving his limbs about, extremely excited. The place had unnerved him a bit at first, but he was slowly adjusting to the high temperatures.
Rose’s boots kicked up a lot of gravel on the narrow path that led around the Volcano. It was about time she tested her new Pokemon’s abilities. She had to name him too. She observed the little crocodile that had looked extremely nervous earlier. Now, he was a bit more like his old self; just as energetic and crazy as he was when she had first found him on the beach. The Volcano seemed like a great place to see if he was any good at battle because firstly, there’d be many fire and rock types up there to battle with and on a sunny day, there was no doubt that they would find some great Pokémon. Being a water type of Pokémon, her totodile would definitely have a great advantage.
“TOTOTOAAAAA!” The sound brought Rose back to her senses and she covered her eyes, scanning the slope for the sign of her Totodile. His cries ricocheted off the sides of the Volcano and Rose broke out into a jog, hoping that the crazy thing hadn’t injured himself. “What are you trying to do?” Rose blurted out when she saw the Totodile flapping his hand on his sides and running around in circles and crying in happy tones, rather than the despair Rose had thought he was in. The Totodile looked up and smiled, making Rose feel a bit annoyed, but her stony face broke out into a soft smile for a moment. “I’m going to name you Marco. What do you think huh?” The Totodile bounded towards her and grabbed her hand, shaking it vigorously, to show his pleasure. “TOTATOTA.”
