It was a nice day. A bit breezy, but other than that, it was nice. The Sun was shining and the Flying Pokemon were chirping. Thomas had finally made time to explore more of the grounds by the school. This meant he was able to go toward the newly constructed Stadium. The strong Fighting types that had helped had all left a few weeks ago and this meant the stadium was finally open.
Having just wandered into the arena, Thomas looked back to Tumtum, who was now a much larger Snorlax. The large bear smiled happily, scratching his large stomach as he walked behind his trainer. "Nice place here, eh Tumtum? Makes me kinda want to start doing some more intense training, y'know?" he joked with his starter.

Aipom was very much restless, he wanted to find combat. He wanted to fight and experience the thrill of combat. However Yumiko had to admit to herself that the idea of forcing her Aipom to fight against something were not exactly appealing at all. It had been okay when all the fighting training had been done between her and her mother. She could always excuse it as being mock-battles because it had been her mother's Pokemons'. But Aipom were hers, and she needed to take care of it, especially after the entrance exam.
They had found their way to the stadium, it was a magnificent place obviously made for the honor of Pokemon Dueling. Aipom were ecstatic, he jumped around, moved at the speed of whatever he could move at, and certainly made sure Yumiko had to almost run to follow him.
Aipom saw the Pokemon before Yumiko did. It was large and seemed like an experience fighter. He would do for a honorable foe for Aipom. Aipom decided to challenge the Pokemon, for he knew his trainer never would. Aipom jumped in front of the two, the Pokemon and the Trainer and said. "Pom Ai Ai pom!" As he pointed challenging the large Pokemon. It showed no sense of fear, it wanted this.
Yumiko knew what the Aipom wanted, however she were still very much unsure if she should allow it. "Aipom, don't bother them." Yumiko ordered, however Aipom defiantly stood before the large Pokemon. It would fight, even if his trainer did not wish it. "I am terribly sorry about this. He usually don't behave like this." She said apologetically at the trainer.

Thomas and Tumtum were taking in the scenery when an Aipom came running up to the two. He blinked and looked up to Tumtum. Both looked a bit confused. They thought Rai's Aipom had evolved recently. "Maybe it's a different Aipom, eh Tumtum?"Tom mentioned to Tumtum. The Snorlax looked down at the monkey-like Pokemon and then bent oer and poked it with one of it's fingers. "Laaaaax" it nodded, agreeing it wasn't the same Aipom. That was odd, who else had one?
When he heard the voice coming after it, it was clearly not Rai, or his Aipom. Thomas smiled, glad to see it wasn't just some random Aipom trying to pick a fight with something much bigger than it. "No worries, always interesting to see how some Pokemon react" Thomas comment. "Don't know many that would pick a fight with a Snorlax, to be honest" he laughed. Looking to the competitive looking Aipom, Thomas looked to the young looking girl. "I'm Thomas, that's Tumtum. If your Aipom would like to fight something though, I have something that I'm sure wouldn't mind getting in some training" Thomas offered, releasing his Oshawott, Trip.

He had expected a little more honor to be found in a large Pokemon such as that, however it seemed the trainer had been too soft. However the cheekiness of the Snorlax knew no bounds for it poked its' challenger unceremoniously and replied to the trainer rather than accept the challenge. How could he?!
Yumiko stood before the Snorlax's trainer. She were apologizing for Aipom's very rude behavior. She felt that it was only appropriate than an apology would be issued for even though she did not understand Pokemon speech, she could certainly see that Aipom had been trying to challenge the Snorlax. However the Snorlax's trainer did not seem to mind, in fact he seemed at least partially interested. The trainer then made a comment about not knowing many that would pick a fight with a Snorlax, she had to agree, the sheer size of it would certainly scare most off. "Yeah, I can understand why." Yumiko replied as she glanced at the Snorlax and smiled trying to look as friendly as possible so that the Snorlax wouldn't eat her.
"It's a pleasure meeting you." Yumiko said. "And i am Yumiko, and this is Aipom -" Yumiko were quickly disturbed by Aipom would suddenly started pointing at her and speaking in his usual Pokemon fashion, continously saying Aipom and various variations of that, until it pointed at himself and said "AI" Yumiko looked a little baffled but finally got the message. Aipom wanted to be named Ai. "Well, his name is Ai, it seems." She said smiling at the Aipom who crossed his arms over his chest and nodded.
The other trainer then offered another Pokemon for a battle. Aipom looked a bit annoyed that he couldn't get to fight the Snorlax, but in the end he nodded and accepted. "I think he accepts that Pokemon as his opponent." Yumiko said. "Do you want to fight right here, or do you want to move to a more appropriate area?" Yumiko asked, of course this place would do, she just wanted to know if Thomas had a more preferred place. [/style] |

Apparently the little Aipom had really wanted to battle Tumtum. It looked quite upset that it's battle hadn't been considered. Well, to Thomas, he had been new once too and knew how painful it was to go against something much stronger than his own. He didn't want to see its trainer rushing off to the Pokecentre just because of their battle. He didn't like seeing Pokemon get or be hurt.
Tumtum saw the girls nervous expression and he smiled brightly and waved. He was a very friendly Snorlax, hardly scary at all. Both Thomas and Tumtum nodded as the girl introduced herself and the Aipom. The trainer gave a little laugh, seeing how upset the Aipom was getting at his name. Naming was always a tricky task, but sometimes the Pokemon helped. That was always nice.
Oshawott eyed up the Aipom and studied his soon-to-be opponent. Trip did like a good battle. "Well, this is a stadium...I think it's a good enough place" he nodded. Trip nodded and followed Thomas back to a spot a bit away from the girl. "We'll let you start it off, Yumiko. Don't push Ai too hard now, don't need to see any strain on the Pokemon, eh?" Thomas spoke, standing with Tumtum as Trip stood ahead of them.

Now the moment of battle were about to begin. Ai, the Aipom, were restless. Sure this was not the foe he had wanted, but it was still a battle. Yumiko and Ai did as their foes did and moved to a spot a little bit away. This would allow for more space and maneuverability, something Aipom would need. Aipom were good at close range, because he was fast. Damn fast, and his attacks were close range.
Yumiko didn't know what attacks her foe's Pokemon knew. However she knew it was a water type, so water moves were to be expected. "Okay Ai, get as close as you can, but be careful. And use scratch as soon as you sees an opportunity." Ai nodded and immediately went on to zig-zag running towards the Oshawot. Carefully keeping an eye on the water Pokemon as well, it did not want to run into any kind of attack after all. [/style] |

Thomas would talk more during the battle and after the battle. He wasn't the most intense battler, but when he had the urge to battle, he liked to get right to it. Kumajiro, his Beartic, knew that well. He had always been Thomas's main battler, despite being a pure Ice type and thus having so many weaknesses. And despite not by Tumtum, who was Tom's starter, he was treated just like he was his starter. He really enjoyed that. That must have been why he and Tumtum got along so well.
Thomas watched as the Aipom and thought briefly. He didn't want to be cheap in this battle and just spam distance moves. He may have enjoyed winning, but he enjoyed being fair more. "Let him get in close, then strike with Razor Shell, Trip!" Thomas called out. Trip, to prepare, grabbed the scalchop off of his chest. But as he he did and when he looked up, The Aipom smacked him with the Scratch attack. His body twisted back, but as he came back, he swiped with the now glowing blue scalchop.

Before the Water Pokemon could fire any attacks, it seemed, Ai were already up in its' face scratching as if he had never scratched nor would ever get to scratch anymore. However the Water Pokemon was not that easily beaten. Suddenly a glowing shell of something hit Ai right on his shoulder. It hurt, the pain was big, yet he felt that it was right, that he was learning, that this was what he needed. But he knew he couldn't take too many of those kinds of hits.
"Ai, use screech and continue the Scratch assault!" Yumiko commanded. Ai did as it was told, screeching as loud as it possibly could to lower the opponents defensive capability. And unless the Oshawot would find some way to counter him, probably continue relentlessly with the scratch assault. [/style] |

Hearing the loud Screech, Thomas covered his ears, as did Tumtum. Trip staggered back and shook his head as his ears rang. That hurt even the trainer. When Thomas looked up, finally uncovering his ears, he saw Trip doing much of the same. Good, that meant they were on the same page. They needed to do something now though.
When Aipom came at Trip again, Thomas had to act quickly. "Quick, aim a Water Gun attack to the ground and get into the air!" the farm boy ordered. Trip fired a powerful stream of water into the ground and soon got into the air as the Scratch happened to miss thanks to the strategy. Seeing the stream end and Trip, falling, Tom smiled. "Now, Water Gun at Aipom!" the trainer added. Trip fired another stream out, this time at Aipom, pushing himself back as well as he was in the air.

She subconsciously covered her ears with her hands as she commanded the Aipom, Ai. However The fact her hands were protecting her ears from the sound attack also meant she didn't hear anything but the muffled voice of Thomas as he ordered his own Pokemon.
Her hands finally went down when she saw the Water shooting from the Water Pokemon and down onto the ground lifting the user up into the air. "Ai! Move it!" She yelled realizing what the trainer was about to do. And Aipom did as he was told, or at least tried. His tail was too slow, the water gun hit him right on the hand/tail and nailed it to the ground, a shriek was released from Aipom as it realized it was caught, or at least a second or two more, unless this Water Pokemon could continuously create water-guns.
"Ai, get away from there... Screech, do something!" Yumiko almost shrieked herself as she felt her heart pump faster and faster. It was just like back at the lab, Aipom was defenseless, but luckily this time there was no Sharpedo's. Aipom tried to get out of the water gun trap, but it was quite unable to do so. So, it screeched as loud and high as it possible could. Yumiko ignored the pain the sound caused this time, she would not let herself be taken by surprise once more due to an opponents muffled voice. Thomas was glad to see Trip getting so into his battle. While he was the protector of a little spot on the beach, he was a bit clumsy and that made most of his efforts a bit fruitless when he tripped up. But he wasn't here. Here he was being incredible. Great. Amazing. But then came another Screech. Gawd that was painful.
Trip was still high in the air when the loudness came and that caused him to stop his Water Gun attack. He feel to the ground from up high and made a thud on the floor. He wasn't hurt too bad, but it still stung. He slowly got to his feet and shook his head. "Trip, Razor Shell!" Thomas called out. Trip removed his scalchop again and rushed toward the Aipom, ready to strike.

He was not going to allow his tail to be caught once more. In fact he was surprised he had been lousy enough to allow it once. But not again!
Now, Yumiko had a few choices she could do. The lack of offensive attacks and differentiation in the set of moves Ai knew made it hard to devise a strategy that did not involve brawling. She had to brawl unfortunately, no matter how much she disliked that happening to Ai. "Ai Scratch!" Were her simple response to her opponents attack. Aipom nodded without hesitation and charged at the Oshawot just as the Pokemon used Razor shell. Aipom felt the Razor shell dig into him, but the pain was ignored as best as he could while he attempted to use the attack Scratch on his opponent. If he were lucky a lot of damage would be dealt to both.

Thomas couldn't and wasn't too upset with how his battle was going. Trip was very competitive even despite his his clumsiness. It appeared, when he fought, his clumsy transiencies went away. It was good to know that about him. He enjoyed training, so maybe he was only clumsy outside of battles. That would make him easier to train. Not that he wasn't already, Tom loved training all of his Pokemon.
When Trip was scratched again, it stepped back to regain his stance. "Hold firm! Don't give an inch! Swipe again with your shell!" Tom ordered. Trip dug his feet in and held his ground until he swiftly moved to the side. He then went to swipe and use Razor Shell to Aipom's back.

He simply kept coming. Now, Yumiko knew Ai couldn't continue getting that very same treatment.
But she had not figured out just how little energy Ai had left. Oshawott was quick, Ai almost didn't see it coming before he felt a stinging pain in his back. He fell to the ground defeated. He had no more energy to spare, he couldn't continue fighting, and Yumiko could see that, even though Ai kept trying to get up once again.
Yumiko retrieved Aipom's Pokeball, pointed it at the Monkey Pokemon and activated the retrieve mechanism. "Return." She said as the red beam pulled Aipom back into it's Pokeball. "You did good." She whispered as she put the Pokeball back to where she retrieved it from. "Seems like I lost." Yumiko said with a fake smile. Losing once again, it didn't feel good at all, it especially caused her to feel bad for Aipom, she was supposed to help him win! And yet she only gave him loses. [/style] |

Trip swiped again, catching the Aipom's back easily. As Ai fell to the ground, Trip realized what had happened, and so did his trainer. He quickly put the scalchop back on his chest and cheered out. "Osh! OSHOSHOSHAWOTT!!" he called out happily. And before the trainer could return the monkey Pokemon, Trip ran to its front and patted his head, assuring him he had done good. And at the point when Yumi went to return the creature, Trip went to hug his opponent. Unfortunately, when it was returned, Trip, well, tripped and fell on his face. How embarrassing!
Trip quickly got up, looked at Tom, then ran to Yumi, hugging her leg. "Losing doesn't mean you did bad, Yumi. Aipom did a real good job, especially considering how close he has to get to fight. That's not an easy job against a Water type. I was your first battle, right? Well you did far better than my first. I used Munchlax against a Skarmory...It took me awhile to get my first win. So you just have to see yourself through the tough stretch of being a new trainer. And anytime you want another battle, just come see me" he explained, returning Trip to his Pokeball. "Want me to show you to the Pokecentre?" he offered with a little smile.

Well, mostly because it seemed like the Water Pokemon wanted to comfort the loser a bit. Unfortunately it ended up falling due to the lack of any mass stopping it. Poor thing, however it was quickly over and hugging her leg instead. She was about to go d'awwww on the Water Pokemon, but she refrained from doing so, because she knew she would end up pinching the cheeks of it, and she doubted it would find that nice at all.
Then the trainer started speaking. She nodded quietly a little bit more to herself as he said she had done quite good for the first battle. Well, technically this wasn't her first battle. This was her second, if you counted the one with Tao. However that'd probably have been considered more like a fight on Life and Death, which she had - had it not been for her reflexes and the fact Aipom's Pokeball had been in her hand - ended up in Aipom's death.
Yumiko tried to look happy, she really did but she was to be fairly honest not feeling all that well after that defeat. It felt like she had been punched in the stomach by all four arms belonging to a Machamp. "Sure." She finally replied after having heard his comment about showing her to the Pokemon center. That was about the only place she wanted to go right now, Aipom needed some serious healing after this, after all.
