It was a big day. At least the weather was nice. The sun shined happily amongst the clouds as a light breeze wafted it's way through the world. The sky was a beautiful blue, one that could be stared at for hours upon hours without feeling the slightest bit bored. It was like a blank canvas for the imagination, ready for an active mind to use it's surface as the back drop for it's creations. One could create a universe staring up at that sky. People, animals. Life, death. Love, hate. All could be created and destroyed here. An entire reality existing in the mind. Was it real? It was as real as the creator wanted it to be. After all, reality is defined by our perception of it. Was there a ghost in that house? It doesn't matter. If the people believed it was there then it as good as was there. Did God exist? Didn't matter. As long as people believed in him, he did no matter the answer. Every lucky break, every disaster that befalls them, when people believe it was God's doing, it makes him real. Perhaps the people here themselves were simply the imagination of some kid looking up at the sky and dreaming... Kind of like Lily was now. The realization snapped the girl out of her trance and she shook her head. Her long brunette locks of hair flicked back and forth with each movement. Damn that sky was mesmerizing. How long had she been staring at it, lost in thought? Here she was, sitting on a bench with her head in the clouds when she was suppose to be catching a monorail to her new home. New home... The idea still sounded odd to her. Her whole life she had lived with her mother there and now she wasn't going to be anywhere near her. It was a little scary to think about. Sure, she needed to grow up and learn to be independent, but she was only sixteen. Was she really ready for this? Lily wasn't sure, if she was being honest with herself. She already missed her mother a lot, and wasn't sure if this was influencing her feelings. Well, she certainly wasn't going to get an answer anytime soon. She'd just have to try her best to make it at the academy. She still had her doubts about that though. Frankly, what did she know about Pokémon? Well, she knew some stuff. Mostly what her mom could tell her, but she was no trainer. Lily was a good learner though, so she still had a chance to pull this off. Difficult as it may be. There were eleven year olds out there with more knowledge on the little creatures then she had. That was just embarrassing. Not much she could do about that though, she'd just have to work hard to catch up! Looking down at her watch, Lily noticed it was time to head over to the monorail. She got up and gave the sky one last moment of attention, before running off toward the station. The station was a quaint little place, decorated with the school insignia and some pictures of Pokémon. Off in the distance across the water she could see the outline of the island the academy was on. Interesting place for a school - seemed more appropriate for a prison. But it was suppose to be a good place for Pokémon, so that would be the reason for it. Lily boarded the monorail and took a seat next to the window so she could watch the water trail by. In a lot of ways, the water was even better then the sky. The difference was though that the water was already full of life. Waves moving along the shifting surface and more life then could be imagined living below it's depths. Lily loved the water and hoped the island had a nice beach where she could go swimming. That would help make the place more bearable maybe. Her mom still wouldn't be there, but it'd make for a nice distraction. After the ride, in which Lily saw a few fish-like Pokémon she didn't know the names of, Lily stepped off of the monorail and took a look around. The place was huge, and it looked like there were a lot of places to explore. Lily liked adventuring and exploring, and the excitement of looking around this new land came upon her and helped her steady her doubts about leaving home. The concept that this might actually be fun was finally sinking in. That was certainly a lot better then the fear too. She reached into her pocket and pulled out the instructions she had received. It carried a map and directions to the laboratory, where she was suppose to find out what dorm she was in and receive her first Pokémon. Apparently there was usually an exam, but there was a note included that stated that the exams were being held off for the time being. Lily wasn't sure why, but at least it meant she wasn't going to embarrass herself on her first day (or at least not right after she arrived, the day was still young after all). Following the directions she had been given, Lily arrived at the laboratory. Taking a deep breath, she pried open the large doors and walked into the building. It was cool in here, and kid of sterile looking. And smelling. Though that was frankly to be expected of a lab. Lily didn't see anyone around, which seemed kind of odd. Though she assumed someone would be by shortly. She dropped her bags down and took a seat while she waited. She crossed her right leg over her left and rested her hands in her lap, fingers meshed. She very patiently waited there, her lifted foot tapping slightly to the music she had going on in her head. there can be only one mikey! of caution 2.0 - Words: 1016 |
