The light of the sun gleamed through the numerous wholes between trees and leaves which towered above the forest like a tattered protective cloak. Dex made his way into the forest. The grass was long and overlapped his feet. He pulled out a pokéball and tossed it onto the field, releasing a small pink snubble. The snubble hopped from side to side while Dex smiled. Still extremely pissed off about being placed in the black rank dorm? No way was he sharing a barn toilet with 3 other hill billies most likely with the intelligence of a rotting walnut. He was at a much higher skill and intellectual level than a black rank fool. He was going to train this pink thing, evolve it and get the hell out of that farm. Then he’d beat that examiner again.
Extremely determined snubble and Dex made their way through the forest in search of pokemon.

Dex looked over politely at the innocent deer Pokémon. It was sweet, but it seemed like one of those things you shouldn’t underestimate. So determined not to fail Dex headed straight into battle.
“Snubbull use fire fang!”
Snubbull’s mouth opened wide and his fangs set alight in a burning flame. The Pokémon leaped right at Deerling before biting right into it.

The deer let out a cry of pain as the Snubbull's jaws pierced it's flesh and singed it's fur. It anxiously tore away from the dog-like Pokemon and backed up against a bush. All at once, it's fur seemed to fade in with the rest of it's surroundings until the Deerling itself was entirely out of view- as if it had become invisible. How on Earth was it doing that?
Well, perhaps that wasn't the best thing to think about at that particular moment. A large green ball seemed to shoot out of nowhere. It just barely missed Dex's Pokemon, much to their luck.
(It's using camouflage.)

Dex had an irritated look on his face, now he had to handle the camouflage. Dex was quite aggravated to have to sit through this. After the energy ball missed Snubbull Dex quickly turned to the point of attack. He pointed his finger at the exact direction.
“Snubbull defeat it with another fire fang!”
Snubbull’s fangs light in a blitz and he launched himself with a bite at the position in hopes of success.

However, the Deer had already moved. It wasn't going to stay in the same area for too long. After all, Deerlings were skittish creatures. Now, small pellets would be tossed through the air toward the trainer and his Pokemon. Vines would leap from them and wrap around his Pokemon.

Dex snarled, this Deerling was just flat out pesky.
“Snubbull bite them off with fire fang!”
The snubble refusing to give up burned off the seeds.
“Snubbull be alert, as soon as the next attack is fired, counter with fire fang!”
Snubbull nodded and its fangs light up in flames.

The vines themselves shuddered as Snubull bit' into their structures with fire fang. They gradually retracted back to where they came from, and the Deerling's camouflage was starting to fade away. "Deerliing!" It cried out in agitation as Snubbull jumped at it and gnawed at one of it's arms. Growing weak, the Pokemon launched a firm kick at the Snubbull that knocked it firmly in the chest. The bright pink Pokemon fell back for a little before receiving yet another kick to the chest, which dealt massive damage to the normal-type. The light-colored Deer took a stance away from the trainer; panting heavily.

Dex was shocked to say the least. Watching his Snubbull receive a painful head on kick to the chest seemed fairly painful. To make things worse, not only was it a super effective move type, it attacked twice, sending the Snubbull gliding through the air like an electronically controlled airplane. Snubbull landed with a thud creating a small cloud of dust underneath him from the impact. Dex’s face squinted upon landing. His eyes slowly creaked open as he watched the Snubbull force its way back to a standing position. A large sheepish smile spread its way across Dex’s face as he flicked back a piece of his fringe which was hanging inconveniently in the front of his face. He was starting to get into the heat of the battle. “This deer is stubborn as hell, surely two fire fangs should of knocked him out...” Dex only wanted to train; he didn’t expect it to be such a hassle! However with camouflage worn off, this bambi was just a panting target. “Let’s finally end this thing. Snubbull finish it with a payback attack!” “This aint gonna be pretty!” Snubbull’s fist seemed to glow a dark colour as he sprinted towards the Deer Pokémon and launched a punch right at the sneaky creature.

The wild deerling tried to sprint away from the Snubull as it's fist glowed with a dark, purple aura. However, due to the fact that it was worn out and injured, evading the attack was harder than it could ever imagine. The wild Pokemon managed to maneuver it's body so that the payback attack wouldn't hit it directly, but unfortunately avoiding the attack entirely wasn't an option. The Deerling's legs were knocked out from under it and it fell against the ground with a light cry, unmoving but still breathing.

To Dex, this is what he would name “an opportunity”. With Deerling defeated, obtaining him was now within his grasp. Dex pulled out a shrunken pokéball from under his jacket. He pressed deeply into the center circular button, and the pokéball expanded outwards in a roll, forcing Dex’s hand to a containable size. The light peering through the tree tops shimmered along the smooth surface of the multi-coloured orb. Dex tossed the gadget across the field. The pokéball soared through the air while spinning before eventually homing in onto the defeated deer Pokémon. The ball tapped lightly against the Deerling’s body before rebounding into the air. A thin red beam of light extended out from the gadget and latched onto the small deer Pokémon. In an instant the light had outlined the deer, and quickly spread around the nimble critters body, transforming it to a red silhouette of its original form. The red beam retracted back to the pokéball in mere seconds and the orb fell to the floor with a thick electronical “thunk” sound.
The small orb waddled from side to side, about 3 times. Normally this would be a tense moment but due to the fact the Deerling is knocked out, Dex merely stared blankly as the scene unfolded. The ball stopped moving and a sparks shot from the center of the orb, accompanied by a light “tich” sound. Success! The corner of Dex’s mouth lifted itself in a cocky grin and Dex strolled towards the Pokéball. He scooped up the ball with his foot and launched it upwards. His hand rotated outwards in a semi-circle, clasping the ball tightly on the way. His thumb tapped the center button once more and the orb shrunk back to its original size.
“I must admit that Deerling was a hassle to fight.”
Now being able to use Camouflage to his own advantage, Dex was beginning to grow in confidence. In no time at all he’d be out of the black dorm and up to ranks of perfection, where he belongs. At that moment in time Dex shook his head. Since he came to the island he hadn’t once thought about girls. It’s just been Pokémon, Pokémon and more Pokémon! Dex couldn’t believe how entertaining these little critters actually were! Maybe he’d enjoy himself more than planned! Just then Dex felt a tug on his trousers. He glanced downwards to discover his Snubbull! He totally forgot who he owed his victory to.
“Beautiful job Snubbull, it appears you’ve exceeded my expectations! Deerling isn’t the only thing I shouldn’t under-estimate. You sure pack a punch!”
Snubbull cheered knowing it served use to it’s frustrated over. The battle served as a complete distraction to Dex, as he had completely calmed down. However he was still determined!
“Let’s go Snubbull, you look o.k. to keep fighting. If the next fight gets too tough for you, I’ll make sure to run! Keeping you safe is a top priority!”

The day was starting to grow late by the time Dex continued his search with his Snubble at his side. However, a shroud of tall leaves pulled at the sleeve of the red-head's pants. If he were to turn and stare at the ground, he'd see something digging out from the surface and letting out a startled, yet tired whimper.

Dex peered down at the cute little grass like Pokémon which dug its way from beneath the ground. It was cute, but also in weak condition. Dex pondered, the oddishs were generally weak but cute pokemon. Right now it was all about getting stronger. He stepped back and prepared for battle. In his last battle Snubbull used Fire Fang for almost every attack. Unsure if he had many flames left in him, Dex decided to play it safe and stick with a different move.
“Snubbull lets defeat it before dusk arrives. Use Ice fang!”
Snubbull opened his mouth wide. A thick layer of ice encrusted his teeth, and a chill air seemed to drift out of his mouth. He sunk his teeth deep into the Oddish with an Ice fang attack.

The Oddish barely had enough time to hear what Dex was saying before his Snubull went charging after her. "Oddish! Odd!" [You big meaniehead!] It cried out as the dog-like Pokemon sunk it's ice-coated fangs into the grass-type. The Oddish shuddered, it's feet stuck to the ground by a layer of ice. It didn't seem very happy... But on the bright side, it being frozen in place left in vulnerable to any attacks and completely incapable of fighting back. Have fun being a sadist, you horrible person.

Dex let out a long exagerated sigh. A needy baby pokemon who wouldn’t fight back, this is so NOT what he needed right now! He squeezed between his eyes in frustration before continuing the battle. “Snubull finish it with Ice fang so we can get out of here.” Snubull nodded before a gentle icy mist creeped from his mouth and his front teeth froze over. Snubull launched himself at the oddish and began biting into the innocent creature. Dex didn’t really feel bad for hurting a baby pokemon while it couldn’t fight back, but he would feel a little bit bad if he left here to perish. When the battle was finished he would catch the oddish and take it back to rest. Then he would release it back into the wild or give it to someone as a gift. Girls liked flowers, maybe he could give it to a girl or something. Whatever, he just wanted to go home to a house, oh wait he lives in a shack.

Snubull's fangs bit's coldly into the grass-type before knocking it out entirely. The Oddish slumped over in it's frozen state, signaling that it was available for capture. The poor thing hadn't even had a chance... Heck, it couldn't even move. Was catching it really a good idea...?
