Name: Iris Mallory Tidmore Age: 27 Appearance: Iris's appearance could probably summarized with one word: Green. Most of her outfit, a beautiful dress, a nice bow, and even her hair is colored green. It would be expected, after all, for her to dress up in her favorite color.
Her face is rather small, and looks quite young. Her seeming small mouth plays a vital role in highlighting her emotions. More often than not, she will look more happy, or sad, or mad than she usually is. It is not a common occurance for her to frown, but when she does, it tends to be more of a dissapointed, melancholy look that hurts more than if someone was actually mad at you. Her smile, however, fills up the entire room, and is capable of making even the saddest person smile (of course, when they leave her smile's reach, they go back to being annoyed or bitter).
Iris's hair and eyes are green, matching her attire. It's not because she dyed them to further add to her clothing, but rather, she is naturally green, so to speak. Her hair contains a long, pretty bow that is (you guessed it), green. Very rarely, one will see her with eyeglasses, which she only wears while grading assignments or examinations. The reason for this, is because she is very hidden and secretive about her grading process. No one knows her happy place where she hides herself and grades. It is rumored that she simply disappears. But in reality, she's just really good at hide and seek.
Other accesories she has include a beautiful emerald ring that gives her the power of having a ring on her finger. She is not married, nor is she engaged, but instead, the ring is a present given to her mother as a bit of a lucky charm. Whether it works for luck or not is a subject of debate, but she still considers it a valuable heirloom, and gives her fond memories of her mother.
Personality: Iris is generally easy-going. She's not hard to get along with, and when someone begins a conversation with her, she usually has lots to add. She's very scholarly, and enjoys conversations with an apparent pursuit of knowledge. More often than not, she will tend to use big words, but knows her limit. She will pause and try lowering her vocabulary to prevent from sounding too pompous or obnoxious.
She often carries a book around, it is not a common book however, it usually tends to be a different type of textbook that she tends to study, mostly out of her own interest, and because it is fun to her. The book normally is of a different subject in different times, but she never feels comfortable being outside without it. When she winds down and is time for her free time, she will begin reading the book. Without a doubt, Professor Iris enjoys reading about anything she can get her hands on, and if it has potential of making her learn more about the world she lives in, she will welcome it with no argument.
She of course, knows the right situation for her attitude. Despite the fact that she tries to come of as sophisticated and educated, she enjoys being childish from time to time, and likes to cut back on stress by playing games and particularly enjoys playing MMORPGs, mostly in the library's PCs, much to the chagrin of the librarian. She, however, changes attitudes in the classroom. For the most part, she is understanding, sympathetic, and generally sweet to her students. But when push comes to shove, she will not hesitate to yell, or deal out punishments.
Her teaching style consists of her delivering a lecture as interestingly as she can. She will try not to bore her students, of course, and try making them interact. She likes giving out fun projects that go away from the traditional "visual aid, backed with presentation" format. She will encourage her students to present their research in the most creative way possible, ranging from a musical presentation, to a mini-play, to even a freestyle stand-up comedy delving on the theme of which she requested her students to learn on. More often than not, she will suggest to her students if they ask her, and she will try to give out creative--yet incredibly unortohdox--methods of presentation.
History: Iris Tidmore was born in a small farm in Sinnoh, just outside Solaceon Town. Her family consisted mostly of ranchers, farmers, and breeders. As a small child, she spent some time helping her family maintain the farm, and spent a great amount of her time reading books on agriculture to help out more efficiently.
Even as a child, Iris's pursuit of knowledge was evident, she always enjoyed reading books, a trait that has passed on to her for her whole existance. She loved reading about any subject, but what she loved most was putting her knowledge to work, and getting any hands-on experience or training that she could.
Iris never received much of a formal education. Most of her vast knowledge came from her own self-determination and willpower, not to mention a barrage of books. It wasn't until she was much older that she received any formal education, and even then, she deemed it too slow and below her level. She had gotten too used to her self-teaching, that only Iris could teach Iris.
Out of the many subjects she tried learning, nothing captivated Iris more than History. She always enjoyed learning about the origins of things, and the stories behind our own origin was her favorite thing to read. If anything, this was the subject she read the most about, and found herself the most knowledgeable in. She would be more than happy to pass on the knowledge she had attained to the future students. After all, she believes that "In order to influence the future, we must of course, know our past."
