It was a perfect time to go sun-bathing in the low grassland part of the Endless Plains and Sage was going to take full advantage of the sunny weather, she was girl after all. She wore a blue tank top with ruffles on the ends and light blue denim shorts that showed off her toned legs that she earned from exercising every single morning since she got to the pokemon academy. She looked for a spot that had more grass than dirt so she could find a spot to lie down and get a tan. She wasn’t that girly to care if she got dirty or not though she was planning to sun-bath at the beach but something in her mind told her it would be a bad idea to go there for some odd reason. Besides, she hasn’t been to the Endless Plains for a while and it was just very nice to relax there. But it was troubling that she just couldn’t relax like she had planned to in the first place. She knew why she was troubled but she really did not want to admit it.
What gave her solace for now was the calming weather and sun-bathing, which usually relaxed her. It was her Absol’s turn to come out of her pokeball since she usually brings her pokemon out in rotation. She took her new pokeball out from her belt and brought her Absol. Her Absol came out with a yawn saying, “Sol…” She smiled gently at her new pokemon and said as she petted her, “Absol, you look tired. Want to take a nap for now?” Her Absol nuzzled against her and procceded to lay down close to her but enough to spot for intruders nearby. Sage was still contemplating what to name her new pokemon. She knew Absol was the only female in her party and seemed the most caring, well she showed it the most even though she knew all her pokemon cared for her the same. The other pokemon were males after all excluding Kai, who was obviously genderless. But sometimes, she swears that Kai must be a female based on the way Kai continuously takes a long time polishing itself.
There was a tall tree nearby her spot and that was convienient just in case she got too hot from sun-bathing. She laid down in the hot sun next to her Absol and tried her best to relax from all the stress she had been going through lately. But it just seemed to be coming back no matter what she tried. She took a deep breath in and out in order to calm herself but she wasn’t in the right mindset to get rid of her stress like she thought sun-bathing would help her to do so. She needed some form of an outlet to get rid of her stress somehow. Suddenly, she felt a strong breeze from down wind and before anything else, a medium sized branch fell on her head hard. Her Absol woke up and looked at her worriedly as if asking if she was alright. Sage had a look of pain on her face and rubbed her foreheard and threw the medium sized branch far away."Ouch, stupid branch..." She said in pain. Today was turning down to be so not a great day.

The past few days had been interesting. Well, mostly just the other day. About two days ago he had finally gotten a roommate, this girl named Seki, and on that same day, his egg had finally hatched. It revealed his second Ice type, with this one being a Vanillite. Tom had no idea how Kumajiro was going to be with her. He had tried to eat Cora's Vani when they first met, and Tom was worried he'd try it to the baby. As much as Tom loved his little ice-bear, he wouldn't want him to devour his newest Pokemon.
Aquila and Princess travelled out of their Pokeballs with Tom today. He didn't know why, but he felt the need to have those two out today. The two were his first two female Pokemon he had caught and since he caught the Starly, she and his Phanpy seemed to have become best friends. And right now, instead of flying, Aquila, the Starly, rode on Princess's back. The two talked away, and Tom could only guess what they were talking about. Maybe they were talking about the male Pokemon they had seen, maybe about the weather. Tom wasn't sure, but it would be interesting if he could understand them more. He was pretty good at understanding Pokemon, but he could always get better.
Following where the wind was pushing him, Tom kept walking at a calm pace. He wasn't planning on going anywhere in particular today, instead just out for a walk. It was then, however, that he noticed a tree swaying more than it should. And then a branch broke off...and smacked something, someone. Flinching, Tom rushed off in the direction to see if the person was okay.
"Hey, you okay?" Tom called out, getting closer to the tree. He was close enough to see the persons outline, but not enough to see who it was, or if they were okay.

Sage touched her forehead and could feel a bit of a wetness on the palm of her right hand. She looked at her right hand in digust for the fact she did not like seeing blood on her. It wasn’t like some phobia of blood but she just thought blood was just plain gross. She was at least glad that she had brought her compact first-aid kit in the medium-sized blue backpack , while on her way to the Endless Plains. But then, she felt a bit disappointed because she could feel the clouds covering the bring and sunny day. So much for sun-bathing this afternoon. She sighed and was about to take out the first-aid kit from her backpack but noticed her female Absol’s grey and dark blue body perk and her sickle-shaped part of her body twitched as if she were sensing something close by. Her Absol began growling at something or someone and Sage wondered what was going on and was just a tad bit worried for a few seconds.
She was relieved that the passerby was just another trainer was two pokemon, a Starly and a Phanpy. He was somewhat in the distance away from her but she could see him just fine. He was a looker in a natural sort of way, not bad-looking at all. He was slender built, nice blue/gray eyes, and dreamy black hair. She didn’t mind checking him out but she broke her short gaze to not seem weird. She ordered her female Absol with assertiveness, “Stand down. They’re not a threat.” She hoped they weren’t. Her Absol just stood right next to her as if something bad could happen at any moments notice. She sighed, “Gosh, it seemed like only the males were too overprotective of me and now you? I just got you…”
She touched her small injury in pain and although it was a small injury, it did sting. The male trainer had asked if she was okay and she didn’t feel okay but she didn’t want to admit it to the trainer especially that she didn’t want to seem weak. She stood up from her sitting spot and said loudly so he could hopefully hear her, “I’m alright!” She was going to end the short conversation with the other trainer but she wouldn’t mind the company especially that she couldn’t really sun-bathing anymore since the sun wasn’t out anymore and it was also breezy. Another reason was that it was nice to have some company when she felt down in the dumps and a bit depressed especially that he was nice-looking too not that she was looking for a relationship at the moment.
She had to think of something to say invite him to keep her company. Anything. She wouldn’t mind battling him but she was a bit hungry and her pokemon must be hungry too. She also had to disinfect her small cut on her forehead. It dind’t hurt to be careful. She hoped she wasn’t boring to him. She lost a bit of her self-confidence from the break-up. She waved at him hoping to catch his attention before if he decided to leave. She said loudly, “Are you and your pokemon hungry? I got enough.” She actually wans’t sure if she had enough though. She also hoped he would accept her invite to eat with her and her pokemon and crossed her fingers that they’ll get along with each other. Battling can wait. She just needed a positive outlook on any situation—good or bad.

As Tom came closer, hoping the person was alright, Tom noticed it was a young look woman. She didn't look too old, maybe around 16? 15 was the lowest he'd put her at. But as he got even closer, he noticed a shadow. And the shadow revealed itself to be an Absol. The young farm had hesitated for a moment before continuing on. Absol were nice looking Pokemon, but everywhere they appeared ended up getting hit by some sort of disaster, hence their name: The Disaster Pokemon. Tom's family had had a run in with an Absol when he was younger, which is why he wasn't a big fan of them. After the Absol had come to their property, there was a drought. One of the worst in decades, according to his parents. He had seen the Absol, and he had experienced the drought, which is why he wasn't a huge supporter of the Dark typed Pokemon.
Deciding not to let that cloud his judgment on another person, he kept walking toward the girl. As he got closer, Princess ran a bit quicker. Aquila's claws stuck into her friends back to get a firmer grip, as Princess rushed. "Hey, girls!" Tom called in a failed attempt to get them to slow down. Princess reared herself up and Aquila flapped her wings so she was off of her friend as they both watched the Absol.
Catching up, Tom looked over to the girl and smiled softly. Hearing she was alright, he figured it was just the girl not wanting to show any sort of weakness. "I'm not very hungry, and the girls just ate, but they seem pretty interested in getting to know your Absol" he said with a light laugh. Still standing, he gave a friendly little shrug and sat down by the girl. "I can't see any harm in letting them all get to know each other. May give their trainers a chance to meet someone new too, eh?" he suggested with a little smirk. Tom wouldn't mind making a new friend, he always enjoyed knowing people.

She watched the young man walk closer to her location and felt a weird vibe from him. She wasn’t psychic or anything but she was observant. She saw him glance at her newly aquired pokemon, Absol and based on the way he looked at her female Absol, it almost seemed to her that he was suspicious of her Absol. She petted her Absol’s head just in case her Absol became protective of her and so Sage could calm the female down beause sometimes, she could be very overprotective especially when male trainers were around. Now Sage knew from reading at the Pokemon Academy’s library that her female Absol was also known as a sort of Disaster Pokemon and came around to warn others of impending disasters and some people thought it was because of an Absol’s presence that disasters occurred. She hoped that wasn’t what the young male trainer was thinking right now.
She gave a giggle when she saw the phanpy and the starly look like they were interested in her Absol by watching her for now. She thought it was a bit amusing how the other trainer was trying his best to call for his phanpy and his starly to slow down she guessed It sort of reminded her of Zeal and Luca was she first started out as a Pokemon Academy trainer. They both were a handful running off everywhere especially her rufflet, Luca who seemed to want to become friends with almost anyone he met. But now, they were much more obedient to her and seemed to respect her more than before. But she did miss their antics sometimes. The other trainer and his pokemon did give her some nostalgia., which gave her smile.
As the other trainer came a bit more closer, she was a bit disappointed that he and his pokemon were not hungry right now since she did have a lot of food to share. She guess she’ll eat later with her pokemon. She stopped petting her Absol and laughed softly back when he said that his pokemon were interested in her female Absol though, she wasn’t sure what was so interestnig about her Absol since she was only sitting down next to her. She said with a smile, “Yeah, they do seem interested in my Absol. Not sure why though…” She continued, “No harm at all,” then she looked down at her female Absol and asked, “Do you want to meet his phanpy and his starly?” Her Absol shook her head and just laid down boredly on the green grass. Sage sighed saying,, “ I guess that’s a no?”
She looked back at the other trainer ans apologized, “Well sorry about that. She’s lazy today.” She continued with a foxy smile, “I should introduce myself shouldn’t I? Name’s Sage Ryland.” She paused and continued, “It’s a pleasure to meet you. what's your name?” She settled for taking out two pokeballs and out came out her Bayleef, Zeal and her Rufflet, Luca. She smiled as she greeted them and looked back at the other trainer, “This is Luca, my rufflet and Zeal, my Bayleef. They’re more sociable at the moment I hope.” Her Rufflet, Luca zoomed toward the Starly and the Phanpy and chirped happily as if trying to make friends with them. But her Bayleef decided to settle for smelling the other trainer as if trying to see if he was trustable. She continued, "You think we could battle? I really do need to let off some steam. Been stressing out lately. If that's alright with you?"

Tom would try, and he was, to push his personal feelings about an Absol to the side. He knew it was dumb to let that cloud his judgment of someone new. Especially when this person looked like this girl he was meeting today. Getting closer and closer, he saw that she wasn't hard on the eyes at all.
Thomas watched as his Pokemon rushed to met the girl and her Pokemon. He figured most Pokemon, deep down, liked meeting others. Even thought the Starley had been a pest when Tom caught her, seeing her want to interact with the Absol assured him she, and most Pokemon, just like to be with others and be friends. Princess was like that. She loved making friends...especially out of any male Pokemon she came across.
When they got closer and the girl began to speak, Tom smiled. She had a nice voice, soothing to the ears. But seeing the Absol shrug his Pokemon off, Tom quickly glance at Princess. She wasn't happy about being ignored. He quickly took her Pokeball out and returned her before she could cause a scene. "They're just very friendly, though Princess doesn't like feeling ignored" he laughed, and explaining why he had returned his Phanpy.
Aquila though, stayed out, perching herself on a branch above the trainers. She was fine with not getting to know the Absol just yet. It could wait. When she smiled to Tom, however, Tom's mind went blank. That...looked like a seductive kind of smile. Could it be? Nah, probably not. "Thomas Faye, a pleasure" he said, giving a slight nod as a greeting. When she let out two others, Tom guessed he could let out two more of his own. And that was when Tumtum and Kumajiro came out.
Kuma instantly wanted in Tom's arms, and Tumtum went into friendly mode. "Tumtum the Munchlax, Kumajiro the Cubchoo, Aquila the Starley, and you already met the moody Phanpy known as Princess" he laughed, introducing each of the Pokemon that had been released. Tumtum waved and smiled at everyone and even went to sit beside the Absol to try and make her talk. Tom's eyes wandered over the Bayleef and the Ruflett, two amazing looking Pokemon. He wouldn't mind having them on his team, had he had the chance to get them.
When Aquila saw the Ruflett, her eyes widened, then her gave went to something more sultry. She swooped down to beside the Ruflett and began to caw toward him. "Staaar-leeey" she cawed, eyeing him up and down. Tom noticed it and smirked, but quickly shot his attention to the trainer. "A battle? Oh, that sounds like a great way to release whatever's troubling you. I'd be glad to help you. How about a 1-on-1 with two Pokemon each? I'll use Kuma and Aquila" he stated, giving a small nod.

Sage responded with a laugh seeing the unhappy Phanpy after her Absol, Celestine ignore Princess for taking a nap instead. Celestine was quite like that, only obedient when she was truly needed and energetic when she felt like it, nothing else. She saw him return his phanpy and Sage said with a small smile, “Don’t worry about it. Celestine’s just really lazy and rather likes just doing her own thing. Sorry about that.” She thought about her own and realized that her own pokemon weren’t like that at all. They rather like doing their own thing but she knew they loved her all the same. When he greeted and introduced himself with his name, Thomas Faye, she responded with a foxy grin, “No, the pleasure is all mine.” She sort of felt fake because making that foxy grin usually was used other feelings of depression, sadness, or anger. Making that foxy grin was hardly a real smile. She was torned up inside knowing she did something she never wanted to do somethig to another person but she did and now felt horrible about it.
She saw him let out a Cubchoo he called Kumajiro, Tumtum, the Munchlax, and told Sage the rest of the pokemon’s names who were already out were Aquila, the Starley, and Princess, the Phanpy. She thought the Cubchoo was just adorable who seemingly wanted to jump into Thomas’s arms, waved at her and her pokemon who her pokemon had different reactions to the Cubchoo’s greeting. Her Absol looked up for a seond and settled for napping once again. Her Bayleef, Zeal glanced at the Cubchoo’s and continued to sit next to Sage’s legs. Her Rufflet Luca, on the other hand, chirped happily in greeting and seemingly fluttered in excitement in meeting new pokemon. Sage almost face-palmed herself. She was wrong, only one of pokemon was sociable, the rest? She wasn’t even close to being right. She saw Thomas’s Munchlax trying to get Celetine’s attention but it seemed it wasn’t working because Celeste just glanced and yawned and went back to sleep like nothing happened at all. Sage sighed and apologized, “Well, I guess I was wrong. Only one of my pokemon is sociable right now.”
Sage noticed the Starley, Aquila caw at her Rufflet, Luca and Sage felt somewhat suspicious of how it sounded because it sounded a bit sexual in the way she cawed at Luca. She saw Luca look at the Starley and flew away to Sage’s right shoulder as if brushing the Starley off or in nervousness, she couldn’t tell. She smiled at the other trainer and said, “Thanks. I really appreciate it.” She saw Zeal, her Bayleef perk up in excitement and gave her his full attention as well as her Rufflet, Luca who chirped in excitement in battling another trainer. As a Rufflet, hs nature was to challenge other pokemon, even stronger ones. She grinned knowing what pokemon to battle with now. She nodded and said with a grin, “A one on one battle sounds fine to me. I’ll use Luca and Zeal.” She then made a thoughtful look on her face as she asked him, “Does a Luca versus Aquila and then Zeal versus Aquila sound good to you?” She had no idea if she stood a chance at all but all she knew was that she wanted—needed to release all the stress and tension that had been troubling her for a while.

After returning Princess to her ball, and the girl explained why the Absol was acting how it was acting, Tom nodded to show he understood. He grew up with Pokemon, and a lot of them. He knew some were more social than others, and that some were just lazy instead of being active. Apparently her Absol was a prime example of that, that they could all have different personalities. It was kind of nice to see that they weren't all the same. It would be boring if they were. He wouldn't enjoy it if all of his were the same, he was glad they were different.
When he looked over to her, he noticed her little grin. He thought it was a bit sultry, but doubted it meant much of anything. He wasn't the one to read into these things much. He was mostly oblivious to these things anyways. So he picked up Kuma after she smiled at him, and hugged him tight. He had quickly got attached to the Ice type, and their friendship was quite apparent. He gave a little chuckle when she pointed out her little mistake about her Pokemon's social skills. "It's all alright, not all Pokemon are sociable" he laughed with a firm nod.
When Luca flew away from Aquila, the small bird huffed and kept a keen eye on him. To her, he was just playing around, but she wouldn't give chase right away. And when she heard about the battles, she flew up to Tom's shoulder and nodded. She was ready for a battle, and when she poked Kumajiro, he looked to the Bayleef and shrugged. He was up for a battle, so long as he could battle second. "Those match ups sound good to me, I think these two agree too" Thomas stated with a nod. Tom could feel that his little guy wanted to rest a bit longer, so Tom would need to convince Sage to go with the birds first.
When he set Kuma beside Tumtum, who was still beside the Absol, Aquila took to the sky. "It looks like she wants the first battle, so what do you say?" he asked, ready with Aquila. "Want the first move?" he offered, Aquila chirping loudly and happily.

It was obvious the Cubchoo loved Thomas very much. She wondered in thought deciding that even though she was originally planning to be a fire-type specialist, it wouldn’t hurt to have an ice-type pokemon in her arsenal as well just to throw other trainers off. She planned to become a fire-type gym leader someday. It was disappointing that she didn’t even have a fire type pokemon in her party yet. She had to have much more persistence and determination to reach her dream than before. When Thomas said that not all pokemon are sociable, she sighed hearing her Absol, Celestine begin to snore, “Or they’re just sociable when they feel like it.” It was true, Celeste was usually one of the more sociable pokemon in her party but today, she was just plain lazy.
When the Starly had chased after Luca, Sage could sense his wariness and suspicion because she guessed he wasn’t used to being given too much attention from another pokemon except when it came to training with Zeal of course since they recently became best friends. It just seemed the starly was too interested in Luca and he was probably nervous because of that. Luca was competitive and a fighter by nature so he really didn’t pay much attention to the opposite sex, instead more on becoming a better fighter than anything else actually. Sage muttered to Zeal, “It seems Aquila likes Luca, don’t you think?”
She nodded her head in agreement to the prior match ups of pokemon battles and said with a smile, “I think my pokemon would agree too as long as they get to fight. They’re a bit battle depraved.” When Thomas set Kuma beside Tumtim, she was mildly surprised Celestine was still in her slumber. Sage thought she would have woken up by now. Sage gave Thomas a small smile hearing Luca flap his wings and chirping in excitement. She said while patting Bayleef’s head and giggling at Luca’s antics, “I think Luca wants the first battle too so I say let’s get this battle started.” When he offered her the first move, she grinned, “Lady’s first huh?” She ordered assertively, “Luca fly up high,” and she continued, “Thanks Tom.” She was grateful that he was indirectly helping her get her mind off of things she didn’t want to think about now.
She had Luca fly higher than Aquila and farther until he was above her and she ordered, “Tailwind!” Luca began flapping his wings hard until he whipped up a turbulent whirlwind that began to move dust and grass around because of the whirlwind. The move would double Luca’s speed for four turns and she hoped it would help. Because physical attacks were one of Luca’s strong points and he had a double boost of speed, she settled on using Aerial Ace since it involved speed in the attack and hopefully would hit. She ordered Luca, “Aerial Ace!” Luca began zooming downward with the double boost of speed and zooming faster and faster because of the attack and began to slash Aquila with the prowness of a fighter. Sage crossed her fingers hoping it would hit.

You hurt the
ones you love Thomas smiled and nodded when the talk about the Absol came back up. It was true. Some were more sociable than others. And, as she mentioned, basically, some just had off days. From how she talked, Tom was sure that must have been true for the Absol. This girl seemed positive her Dark-type was actually nice and friendly, so Tom wouldn't judge. As Aquila was denied another advance on the other bird, she cawed in an upset tone and flew back to Thomas, ready for the fight. Her trainer nodded to the blond and took a position across from her. "But of course. It would be very ungentlemanly if I didn't" he replied when she asked about him letting her go first. And with that said, the battle began. Tom shrugged his shoulder and Aquila jumped off of it and flapped her wings, getting airborne. As Sage ordered her Rufflet, Tom tried to spot it. "Quick, girl, while it's high up, Double Team" Tom called out. Aquila chirped and as Luca was higher up, she duplicated herself. Soon the area was filled with Starly's, but only one was real. And when Tom heard the attack ordered, he watched his bird carefully. He wasn't too sure which was the real one, so hopefully Luca and Sage wouldn't either. "When Luca hits one, use Wing Attack, girl" Tom ordered. All the copies called out and began to fly around. While they flew, they waited. When one was hit, they'd all disappear and Aquila would attack.

She had no idea which one was the Starly but she just had to take her chances. It wasn’t like Luca had Zeal’s Magical Leaf that would automatically zoom toward the original Starly. She heard Thomas telling his Starly to use Wing Attack so at least she had an idea what might occur right after. She just had to chance it and cross her fingers that Luca would hit the right one. She yelled out, “Furthest right now! Scary Face!” If Luca was any other Rufflet and didn’t train with Sage on backup moves, he wouldn’t understand why or when to use it. Luca would hopefully feel which direction Starly would be coming from and use Scary Face immediately especially if he missed the original Starly. Sneak
Attack Tom watched carefully. For a change, he was thinking a step ahead. He wasn't trying to just outright go in for the kill, but he was planning things out. He was intent on getting a good battle in with Sage. And so far, Aquila was helping him out in a good way with it. The Double Team worked as a great counter to Luca's high speed. But he knew he'd have to eventually let the copies fall. When Luca swooped down to attack, the real Aquila stayed put. When the attack came along side the Scary Face, Aquila had been lucky that she hadn't been the one who had been targeted. She was, hoever, close enough to feel some effects from the Scary Face. Thomas noticed that, and cursed under his breath. When the fake Starly disappeared, Tom smirked. "Now girl! Go!" Thomas shouted. Aquila stayed silent and charged at the Rouflet with glowing white wings, ready to strike with a Wing Attack.

But what? She had to think fast and chance it once again. Watching the Starly fly toward Luca, she yelled out, “Charge!” as Luca complied zooming faster and faster toward the Starly. Last Ditched
Effort When Aquila swooped into attack, Thomas readied himself. He was hoping his little deceptive play would work to his advantage, but he knew with the slowed stats of Aquila, it might not all work out. So he watched, intently. Aquila came in close, but missed. She had taken another Scary Face again, and now the Rufflet was coming to attack again. When the girl turned around, she was struck with the attack. Faltering and nearly falling to the ground, Tom grunted. "Come on girl, let's try one last way to regain the momentum. Quick Attack!" he ordered. Starly's speed may have been lowered, but Quick Attack was just that...a quick[/b] attack.

Good. She grinned knowing Starly would be slower compared to Luca who still was pumped up for battling. She then saw Luca’s Crush Claw succeed right after as Luca’s talons glowed blue and white as he smashed his sharp talons hard onto Starly’s body. The attack did its job. The Starly was hit as she faltered and almost fell to the ground. Sage heard Tom say to use quick attack to regain the momentum of the battle. Oh no you don’t Tom. We can go faster right Luca? Sometimes she surprised hearing herself in battling, she didn’t know she was the type to get competitive until she came to the pokemon academy. She watched the starly’s body became surrounded by a white aura and about to tackle Luca but Luca dodged it with the fact that speed with lowered. She yelled out, “Use your finisher move!” Suddenly, Luca flew at the Starly like a missile as his body burst into flames opening up his wings and body becoming surrounded in a blue aura, and zoomed at a high speed about to heavily slam onto the slower Starly. | [atrb=width,140] outfit ,

One Down
One Replacement Tom, with a frustrated look on his face, muttered to himself. He watched as Aquila hadn't hit her target, thanks to her reduced speed, and the Rufflet's gained speed. He didn't know what else he could do against her and her Rufflet, and he wasn't about to push his Aquila beyond what she was capable of. He cared more about the wellfare of his Pokemon, than how they did in battles. So long as they were safe, he was happy. This meant that he didn't want to go too far. And when he saw Aquila get struck with the last attack, he winced and quickly grabbed her Pokeball. quila landed hard on the ground and looked to Thomas, then to Luca. Her eyes were big and sad, as if asking how he could have harmed her. "She's done. Aquila, return" he said. When he tried to return her, she fluttered and just slowly flew to his side. She was done battling, but she wanted to stay out of the ball. "Hm, seems like she wants to stay out. You want to get some pointers from Luca, huh?" he asked. She nodded in a very tired way, and then flew toward Rufflet, fluttering down to the ground, clearly tired. She rested and looked to Luca. She wanted him to teach while she rested. "I guess it's time for you Kuma, come here" Thomas said, picking up his little bear. Leaning into the bears ear, he whispered: "When the Bayleef comes out at you, use Charm, and when it seems distracted by the look, use Slash. If he doesn't get lost in your cuteness, be ready to use Icy Wind, alright?". With his commands whispered into him secretly, Kumajiro walked out onto the field and sat down. His eyes were wide and beady, his paw poking his nose in a very cute fashion. If he was lucky, not only would Charm distact Zeal, but it would also reduce his attacks.

But hey, Luca seemed happy with the win either way. Watching Aquila fly over to Luca, Sage giggled seeing Luca eying the Starly flying toward him. He must think she wants a second round. Sage sighed and said to Luca, “His Starly doesn’t want to fight you Luca. It’s over.” Luca warily accepted her company as he perched himself on a medium-sized log under the shade of a tree and rested for a while as he began to recover from his own Brave Bird attack.
She called out her Bayleef, Zeal and he immediately got himself ready for battle with determined eyes blazing in his eyes saying, “Bay!” She noticed Thomas whispering to his Cubchoo probably about some strategy and thought it was somewhat unfair. But anyway, they needed to get the battle started. Sage ordered her Bayleef to use Growl as he opened his mouth and let out a loud cry releasing white shockwaves from his mouth, hopefully making the Cubchoo calm down. It wasn’t a move she would have Zeal use but every move counted especially going against an Ice-type pokemon. Sage yelled out, “You know what to do Zeal!” And knowing what to do, he did. Magical Poison Leaf! It was probably repetitive but still, Sage loved using those beautiful magical leaves in battles. Zeal sent out magical leaves carrying poison powder zooming and zooming toward his opponent. The battle was only starting. Let’s do it Zeal!

Freee-
-eeeze Tom knew it might have been a bit cheap to whisper a few moves to the Pokemon, but he didn't want Sage to know his plan. Though, after Zeal came out, it appeared his plan did nothing at all. Niether Zeal or Sage noticed Kumajiro being cute, and that surprised Tom. Kuma kept it up though, even while Zeal got ready to attack. But Tom didn't want him to get too hurt. "Get outta the way Kuma!" Tom called out. Kuma got onto his fours and turned and began to get some distance between him and Zeal. Unfortunately, as he ran, the leaves hit him. Luckily, however, the poison portion of it seemed to miss him. Tripping over his paws after being hit, Kuma rolled and landed on his bum. He turned quickly and remembered his trainers words. He breathed in through his nose, collecting his running nose ice, and prepared to attack. A steady and fast stream of blue and white energy escaped his now opened mouth. Aimed right at Zeal, the Icy Wind moved from Kuma quickly.

The Cubchoo wasn’t even poisoned. The attack missed but at least the magical leaves hit the opposing pokemon. That was good so far. But, the Cubchoo was an ice-type was an ice type so Sage had to be careful with the pokemon. Damn. Sage watched as a chilled icy wind headed toward her Bayleef and ordered Zeal, “Light Screen now!” as Zeal put up a light shield that would cut in half the damage for a few turns. He endured the ice-type attack as he was being pushed back a bit. Once the attack finished, Sage ordered, Zeal, “Synthesis” as he glowed green and healed most of the damage done to him. Sage continued, “What about this? We make a bet on whoever wins this battle. What do you think?” She paused and continued, “If I win, you come on a long shopping spree with me.” What about you?” For some reason, Zeal looked suspicious probably because Sage had made a bet with another trainer and starter a relationship with him but they had broken up. He had admired Vulcan and probably missed him. Sage was trying to forget Laz but she making a bet during a battle, made her remember how much she hurt him. Damn.

Second
Go Tom curse under his breath as Sage went on the defensive. He figured he'd need to be more on the offensive now. Her going on the defensive turned the battle into his favour. It allowed him to be the attacker. This was good, since he had the type advantage, against something that was a stage higher. He began thinking of what he could do. He had an idea of a high risk move, and thought about using it. As he thought, he heard Sage call out to him. Hm, a bet eh? He couldn't think of anything good that he wanted, so he went with a somewhat cliche bet. "Hm, if I win, how about you treat me to lunch or a dinner?" he stated with a little smirk. It was all he could really think of. Snapping back into the match at hand, he decided to go for it. "Kumajiro, Hail" Tom ordered. Kuma turned to look at Thomas and nodded before firing his ice into the air. The sky began to get cloudy...and then it came. Large balls of hail came down onto the battlefield, smashing into the ground and all around. Luckily Cubchoo was an Ice type, so he was able to avoid Hail's harmful effects, and his Snow Cloack ability would also make it easier for him to avoid damage. Tom, now, just needed to give him time to relax after using the powerful move.

It wouldn’t hurt to make a bet or two every now and then. But, a bet had led her ex-boyfriend and her to begin going out and that said bet had led to a very passionate and deep kissing session. She wasn’t so sure if anyone could top that experience. She felt relieved that Thomas had not asked for a kiss in the bet. It would bring back unwanted memories that she was trying to forget. Why did she ask for a bet in the first place? She shook her head and thought she was a bit conflicted and maybe even bi-polar. She was joking around with Thomas and now she just felt depressed.
But damn, his Cubchoo just used Hail and that definitely was not a good sign at all. That attack would block almost any attempt at Zeal healing fully or even a full-powered Solar Beam. What was she to do now? She watch worriedly as the air began to feel chilly and getting more and more colder by the second and icy hail began to fall to the ground and some of them were about to hit her beloved Zeal. Sage yelled, “Zeal dodge to the left! Right!” as Zeal leaped to the left seeing a large object crash down to the ground next to him and another one was about to hit him. He wasn’t able to dodge in time and was hit as it rocked him and knocked him to the ground. Damn. Sage called out to him, “Zeal get up!” Please be okay. Sage ordered, “Get up!” though she was still worried. Zeal wouldn’t give up yet. He couldn’t. Knock him to the ground and he’ll get back up.
She widened her eyes seeing him struggle to get back up, “Come on!” And she heard Zeal with newfound determination, “Bay!” She smiled warmly at him and was relieved to see he wasn’t totally out of the battle. But how long would that last? Sage ordered, “Come on Zeal! Synthesis!” as Zeal glowed green and healed himself once again. But unfortunately he didn’t as much as she wanted him to. There was hardly enough sun to heal himself with. Hail was blocking her chances. Was he slowing down? He was walking up slower than before. That was hardly unexpected. Ice type attacks and moves would take a lot out of Zeal. But he appeared to recover fast from that slow rut and fortunately she could tell him to attack, “Keep light on your feet! Razor Leaf!” as Zeal began moving in different directions to regain momentum in the battle and all the while, Razor like leaves began zooming toward the Cubchoo. She hoped the attack would hit and hoped ice type attacks could be avoided—but that was unlikely seeing that the Cubchoo was purely an ice type pokemon.

Rah Rah Ah Ah Ahha Rom-
Tom was glad to see Kumajiro was still going strong after he used Hail. It was a strong move that Thomas wasn't sure about. He knew what it did, but he hadn't been sure if Kuma would have been able to pull it off or not. Luckily for Thomas and Kuma, he seemed easily able to use it, minus some time to breathe. The last thing Thomas wanted to do was overwork his Pokemon to the point where they wouldn't like him. The trainer had noticed the others smile and then emotional change when she agreed to the bet. He didn't want to pry into her personal life, since he only just met her, but he would be sure to ask if she was alright later. He wasn't a fan of being upset, and he knew others weren't either. He'd try to help out the best he could. He noticed Kuma's breathing get back to a regular pass as Sage attempted to make Zeal heal himself after he was struck by the Hail. Poor thing, it would only get a fraction of its health back thanks to the Hail. And when the Razor Leaf was ordered, Tom watched how Kuma would react. Thanks to his Snow Cloak ability, his evasion was raised and he easily dodged the Razor Leaf, his white body blending itno the Hail and snow to cover him as he moved out of the way. "Now Kuma, Icy Wind!" Tom ordered. But no Icy Wind came. Instead, a large cloud of white moved right through the area. Pelts of hardened white snow rushed forward toward Zeal and emerging from the white cover was Kuma...as a Beartic on all fours, firing out a Blizzard attack. Pushing upwards, he raised himself up onto his hind legs and let out a viscous roar before continuing his Blizzard attack. "K-Kuma?" was all Tom could stutter out as the bear landed on his fours, shaking his head as he attacked to cover mre area. RAAAAAH!!!

Damn. She watched as Zeal used Synthesis glowing green but unfortunately, it hardly healed him at all since after that, she sadly saw him stumble right afterwards. She really didn’t like the matchup since Zeal was weak against ice-type pokemon but later, she had to make sure she could work her way around that weakness. The Razor Leaf attack looked stronger as his attempt to do some damage but it narrowly missed the Cubchoo instead. It had seemed Overgrow had activated but it was all in vain since it missed completely.
Another ice type attack? He ordered his Cubchoo and she was going to return her Bayleef but she saw Zeal glare at her once she got out his poke ball out so she hesitantly put it back—for now. But the Cubchoo didn’t use the Icy Wind so she sighed in relief. She had to do something since this really was a bad match up and Zeal being stubborn was a bad idea. What the hell? She widened her eyes in disbelief seeing a giant cloud of white cover up the battle field and she had a bad feeling about what was about to happen. She horrifyingly watched as pelts of hardened white snow zoomed toward Zeal as she then yelled desperately, “Dodge it now!” but it was too late. The attack came crashing down at Zeal’s body as it threw at him down to the icy ground hard. It was too damn late. Too late. She could see the Beartic let out a loud roar and continue on his devastating Blizzard attack. She quickly got out her poke ball seeing her Zeal faint and returned him before he could be attacked again. She softly said, “You did a great job Zeal.” She put away her poke ball and addressed Thomas with a sad voice, “That was a great battle,” and glanced at the newly evolved Beartic and back at Thomas, “Congrats on your Beartic.” She was a bit sad that this was the first battle her starter pokemon Zeal lost and got really injured at but she’ll get over it sooner or later.

As Kuma kept attacking, Thomas could help but watch, slightly in disbelief. Kuma was usually a nice Pokemon and when he fought, yes he was fierce, but right now he was being far more aggressive than Thomas had ever seen him. He wasn't upset, in fact he was kind of happy to finally have a Pokemon who was intent on battling, he was just surprised.
Kumajiro was being a bit ruthless toward Zeal, but he soon stopped. He could tell the Pokemon could barely take anymore, and once he spotted the trainer pulling out the Pokeball, he was sure he had won. Thomas blinked as Kuma took a seat. When Zeal was returned, the Hail seemed to subside. "W-Way to go Kuma...didn't expect that from you" Tom confessed, returning him to the ball. Glancing to the other Pokemon still out, he noticed that Aquila had tucked herself in to Luca to keep warm. "That was a good battle, Sage, thanks" he smiled. Taking a few steps forward, Tom glanced around, then looked to Sage. "So, when do you wanna do that lunch now or later?" he teased lightly
