As the rocks began to settle, Arcen looked up, away from his Zubat, for the first time since seeing her about to be clobbered by a Golem. His eyes darted anxiously from rock to rock, searching for his Pawniard. He stumbled to his feet, still clutching Alacer to his chest, and called out, "Rasoir?!" Several moments later, the steel type reluctantly came from his hiding place, still looking wary. Arcen, relieved, told him, "Good job fighting out there today. And quick thinking, hiding behind that outcrop." Alacer trembled with jealousy, feeling the praising tone in her master's voice, and clicked angrily, struggling to get out of his arms.
Surprised, Arcen looked down at her, and held her tighter. Gently, so as not to crush her, but tight enough that she couldn't escape. "Easy girl..." he murmured. She relaxed slowly, as she realized the tense feeling in his arms as he held her were not from his usual depression or anger, but from concern and care.
He turned towards Rixie, Rasoir walking at his heel, and knelt down by her side. "Are you alright?" his voice was terse, as he covered up the soft care that he had let Alacer see for the first time. He wasn't ready to let the whole world see that he was beginning to soften. Shooting a grateful glance at Laz, he realized just how much he actually owed to the red-head. Laz was becoming something of an idol, if not a god, to Arcen.

"Oh Phooey."
Lu Fei moaned as he saw that there were no longer any available pokemon to be caught. He wasn't interested in some red head who had this kick ass looking pig and that over grown seely thingy majig. With a huff, the Silverette was now in a bad mood and decided to hang around, sulking for god knows why.
The Oshawott went back to the trainer before patting him on the shin and methodically climbing a rock so that he could leap to his shoulder and play with his master's hair again. It was always a fun past time for him, making weird faces with his Master.

Rixie stared at Arcen with wide eyes. He actually asked her if she was alright? Was this even possible? She scrambled onto her feet, Slate moving between them suspiciously, still not too fond of Arcen. "If you make her cry again I'll gore you through..." he growled. Petal quivered and hid behind Rixie, not liking this new, vicious side of the one that she knew as 'Daddy'.
After a long moment, Rixie ran her hand along Slate's back, telling him that it was okay, and she said, "I... I'm... fine." She gestured towards the Zubat, "And Alacer? Is she okay?" It wasn't until the Oshawott swung around onto its trainer's shoulder that she remembered they were not quite alone. Glancing towards the others, her throat went dry. Hoarsely, she said, "I was just... looking for some fire pokemon. Maybe we can... go on together?"

"Well, our job's done. We should probably get something to eat."
Laz commented as he got on his Crobat again and pretty much ordered it to soar into the sky. As the ground beneath began to distance itself, they knew that they were okay for flying. Making sure he wasn't noticed by the female of the group, Laz gave a two finger salute to Arcen before heading off into the Horizon.
The Crobat was grumbling again, about it not getting into a better fight this time around to prove that he can really drown the world in his poison and conquer the world. It decided not to fuck around at least, lest Laz introduce him to Vulcan's fires again.

While Rix & Arcen seem to drift away from everyone else, everyone else pretty much disappears. The Volcano doesnt seem as heated as it was before, seeing as how the trainers hadnt come across any pokemon. A few paths appeared, three to be exact. One of them going higher up onto the mountain, straight a head, and also back towards the start of the mountain. Your choice.
Summarize:
- Rix & Arcen are alone!
- 3 Paths, Your Choice!
- Blegh, good luck.

Arcen smiled at her quiet request, and nodded slowly, "It would be an honor to make your company, in fact." He glanced at the swiftly flying Golbat. Laz had told him to come meet him here for a training session. It seemed that he would be getting more than just training in pokemon battles. Thank you, Laz. he thought silently.
He turned to look at the figure of the leaving Lu Fei and said, "Are you sure it's okay if we just go off without him? I'd like to spend some time alone with you too but not if it's going to make anyone feel bad." He inhaled sharply, ready to feel her withering comment. He would then smile to himself, not letting it show on the expression of his face: he really was coming to finally understand the unpredictable breeder.

A heavy blush came to her cheeks. It was amazing, how far they had come. Both of them. She still remembered the day they met. It seemed like it'd been so long, even though really it hadn't been. The way he spoke to her now, as opposed to how he used to, proved the difference.
He had been right to tense himself for the retort. And indeed it came. "Are you kidding? He doesn't need to come with us! Arcen, what the hell is wrong with you?!" Moments passed, and she bit her lip, her gaze falling to the ground. When her eyes met his again, they had lost their furious glare and had taken a dark glaze. "I mean... don't you... want to just go, just you and me?" After a heart-stopping moment, she said, "I'm going up that path, up, towards the volcano. Towards the fire. I... would like it if you could come with me."

He pretended to be hurt by Rixie's words, but really the only thing on his mind was the sheer thrill of being able to understand and predict the girl's actions. This was wonderful. This was power. When she looked at him again, this time with the sad look in her eyes that he was growing accustomed to, he nodded slowly, "Of course I'll go with you. I'd go anywhere with you." He feigned being flustered, knowing that it would amuse her and most likely lower her guard. Stumbling over his words, he said, "I mean... Can't have you wandering around out here alone. L-Let's go." Taking off, with the palest tinge of pink on his face, he strode up the path.

Heading upward towards the more volcanic part of the area, you seem to be having a nice leisurely stroll. Suddenly you hear a charging of pokemon! As they seem to be charging in your direction, you notice them all coming in your direction. It appeared to be two numel, running towards you! The two came to their grinding halt just before you. They didnt want you to go pass them. "Num." The both said to you with smiles. They seem friendly.

Rixie stared at Arcen for a long while. She was still scared that he was just trying to manipulate her again, but she wasn't sure what she could do about it. Just as she was attempting to come up with a way to find out what exactly was going on, two Numels came up seemingly out of nowhere, snapping her out of her reverie. She smiled at them. They seemed quite friendly. Most of her pokemon had been put away by now, except for Slate. The stony pokemon let out a friendly greeting.

Arcen wanted to just press on past the Numel, but when Rixie stopped and began to interact, he felt that he had no choice but to stay and watch what happened, and lend assisstance if it was needed. She didn't show any inclination of wanting to catch them, and he rather doubted that she actually wanted to catch one of the Numel. Then again, she always did manage to surprise him, even now. It was likely that she simply couldn't ignore a friendly approach from any pokemon. He smiled inwardly, thinking how different the reaction would be if they were people.

The two numels would both smile & nod, saying hello back to the rock type pokemon. Despite being a monstrous looking pokemon, it was rather friendly and gentle towards them. The two would stare at the creature & also smile at the two trainers. "Num." They waved their little legs.
Summarize:
- The numels said hi to Ryhorn
- They said hi to the trainers.

Rixie beamed at the two little Numel and she stepped towards them. Kneeling down beside them, she murmured, "You two are such friendly little guys. D'you think that maybe you'd be willing to come along with us? I can battle you if you want. But only if you are willing to come with me." Unsure of how much they'd understand, she withdrew a pokeball and held it out to them in the flat of her palm, eyes shining as she gazed at the Numels. Rixie realized that she might have been too hasty. She half-expected them to run away and she felt a twinge of fear at the thought, but she still let her hand out towards them. She felt that she might have been too hasty.

Arcen felt unsettled as he watched Rixie attempt to coax the Numel to come with them or fight them. That didn't seem quite right... Shouldn't a trainer be trying to capture the pokemon? Not talk it into being captured? He didn't care all that much. A Numel would be nice, but he could think of fire pokemon that he'd rather have. Even if they ran away, he already had plans to head further up the mountain and find more fire pokemon. Something more awesome than the Numel.

The numels would both back away & make room for battle, after a cheerful nod of accepting the challenge of a battle. One of the numels however would wander off too far into the distance & disappear. The other numel would stay in place, ready for a fierce battle. If spat a few flames into the air, that would all fade quickly seeing as how weakly charged the fire power was. It would smile and wait for you to get into place.
Summarize:
- One of the numels disappeared
- The other is waiting for you.

Rixie was saddened by the disappearance of the second Numel. She had wanted to have a double battle with Arcen, and if they won, they would each get one of the Numels. Maybe one would be male and one would be female, maybe they would fall in love like she had fallen in love with Arcen, and maybe watching their Numels be in love would help show Arcen what she wanted from him. After a moment, she shrugged, "Well, no use in crying over it." Brightening up, Rixie called out, "Come on out, Seashell. I need you again." Slate looked up with pride and joy as the Tirtouga appeared. He fought down an urge to rush out to her side, and instead forced himself to sit down heavily on the warm rock. "Let's just start the battle with Rain Dance!" Rixie knew that she shouldn't take it easy on the Numel, but nonetheless it felt cheap to start off with a powerful offensive attack. She wanted to make sure the Numel knew that the battle was starting, and this should provide the perfect cue.
((ooc: we can have just Rix post til the battle with the Numel is over))

While rain would pick up and begin to pelt the numel hard, you could hear it cry a bit. This numel was very afraid of water. Not knowing the typing of your pokemon, it didnt really know to flinch or run off like the other numel. "...Num..." It cried softly. Suddenly in the distance, a roar could be heard! It sounded monstrous & nearby. Oddly, the thunder clouds would seperate, while we watch the storm cloud disappear. Obviously, the pokemon was close enough to use sunny day to return the vulcanic area to its regular state. "Num..." The pokemon would cheer itself up a bit. Now with that pestering rain gone, it could attempt to put up a decent fight. The youngster would charge at the turtle pokemon, using a tackle attack.
Summarize:
- A pokemon nearby used sunny day.
- Nunmel used tackle!
So much for overpowering it

Rixie's eyes widened in surprise as the Sunny Day took effect. Noting to herself to not use Rain Dance again and risk pissing off the Sunny Day user even more, she said, "Alright Seashell, wait for it to get close then blast it with Aqua Tail!" As soon as the Numel seemed to be too close to dodge properly, Seashell sent a powerful gush of water from her tail rushing straight towards the Numel's face. She might take a bit of damage from the Tackle, but the heavy torrent of water would probably blast the Numel backwards a bit.

The water rushing straight for the poor fire type would smack it hard! Its tackle attack was too straight forward to attempt dodging, not to mention the range. As the water attack struck, the numel would be launched back. It had taken more than enough damage. "Num!" It cried! Its fear of water became strong. It would then slowly attempt to rise back to its feet & limp away. The youngster wasnt too experienced enough to take anymore than one or two moves, especially to the face.

- You hit it!

Rixie cried out, "Wait! I can help you!" She ran several steps after it, before noticing the look in Seashell's eyes: capture it! She nodded slowly, and she withdrew a pokeball from one of the numerous pockets on her pants, throwing it after the Numel. The red and white orb flew in an arc through the air, landed lightly on the Numel's back, and opened open to draw it inside. Rixie waited, with bated breath, for the pokeball to stop moving. She hadn't been completely sure if the Numel had been ready to be caught, but she was afraid of hurting it any more.

Though you nearly killed it, the pokemon was caught! Up ahead you could see a charizard! It didnt look too happy, but was yet to notice you. However, it launched a flamethrower that seemed stronger than a fire blast, into the air. Running is smart. In the other direction, towards the foot of the volcano, you'll see more pokemon.
Numel seems to be extremely afraid of water, beyond the average fire type's disliking of it. Numel is a male & very calm & joyous for the most part. It enjoys taking nice strolls through fields and just walking around. Its very young, but not a baby, and lacks battling experience. It has a jolly nature and simple ability. It thinks your a mean person, despite your friendly smile.
Summarize:
- You caught a numel
- 2 Choices.
- Powerpuff Girls had a great game.

Arcen's blood froze when he heard the first roar, and when he saw the Charizard, thrills moved up and down his spine. A Charizard?! He had to have it. It seemed like it didn't see them yet. This was the perfect chance. He rushed to Rixie's side, offering a quick, "Congratulations. What do we say we tackle the next challenge?" He pointed with one hand towards the towering Charizard as it spewed flame from its mouth. The fire lit up Arcen's face, both literally and figuritively, with delight.
"I have a strategy. We can use Alacer to distract it by flying around its head, and then we have all our pokemon use the strongest attacks they can against it. Seashell can pull off another Aqua Tail, or maybe Hydro Pump if you think she's strong enough, and I'll have Rasoir use Guillotine. Slate, Petal, your Emolga, and whatever other pokemon you have can spring their biggest, wildest attacks to cover them." Arcen's eyes shined with true excitement, not the usual, glimmery look that was his faking excitement in order to manipulate those around him. This was his chance. How proud would Laz be if he came riding in on a Charizard of all things?!

Rixie stared at him with disbelief. "You want to launch a surprise attack? But look at it! It's in distress. It needs our help!" Without another word, Rixie started walking towards the Charizard. Cursing quietly, Arcen hid behind some rocks so that the Charizard would at least not see him too.
"Hello? Are you okay? Why are you in pain?" she called loudly, giving away her position. "Look! I mean you no harm! I just want to help!" She slowly took out Seashell's pokeball, and recalled her, well aware that the mighty, dragon-like pokemon would probably be uneasy with the Water type around. Slate fell back behind her, and bowed his head respectfully, "Please believe me. When my trainer says that she only wants to lend assisstance, she means it. We want to know what is wrong."

Its eyes would sparkle. The dragon like pokemon would look down, only to find itself mysically enchanted by the beautiful face of Arcen's. But some girl was there too! Trying to still her man too! The charizard launched a flamethrower your way. It was pissed that you were near Arcen. It didnt seem to hear what you said at all. The dragon like pokemon would then take off into the distance.

Upon realizing that the Charizard was pissed, Rixie dove for cover. Rushing back towards the nearest boulder, Slate helped shove her along, then hid behind it with her. Just in time. The flamethrower came faster than she had anticipated. Luckily, it seemed she was now safe. At least the Charizard had left quickly. She sighed, wishing that she could have done something to help instead of something to make it all worse. Oh well. She turned towars Arcen miserably and said, with a downcast face, "I guess you were right. Maybe trying to talk to it was a stupid idea after all." After a long moment, she shrugged, "Let's just... start heading back down the volcano."

While you watch the char disappear iin the distance & head down the hill, you see a bunch of boulders sitting around in an odd pattern. In the center rested a strange pokemon. It was a baltoy! "bal..." You could hear it calmly whisper, as you came closer. The pokemon would suddenly surround itself with small pebbles & stones that appeared to be covered in a pink aura. They would all slowly drop to the ground. The aura would fade as they all dropped onto the ground, making small noises. The baltoy seemed a bit down...

Arcen shivered at the intense, burning gaze that the Charizard gave him. He could guess where that look was coming from. A flutter of hope rose within him. Could he possibly get the Charizard to come with him without battling? But then the look on her face darkened, and he watched with horror as Rixie darted out of the way. Sadness took its place as he watched the Charizard take off. For a few moments, he almost wished that he hadn't brought Rixie with him. Then again, where would he be if that Charizard decided to keep him as her own little pet? He sighed. Perhaps it all happened for a reason, after all.
He followed her down the hill, until they reached what appeared to be a small psychic pokemon. Deciding to take a cue from Rixie and see if her way of "capturing" pokemon worked after all, he walked up to it, careful to make no sudden movements. Kneeling down, he gave it a small, sympathetic smile. "Everything all right? You seem to be having some trouble."

Baltoy would stare at the boy, with a blank expression. This human.. cared? How kind, but that wouldnt change the problem just yet. The baltoy nodded and began to use the move once more. Arcen nodded slowly. "I think I know what move you're trying to do. Try to have more confidence in yourself, and maybe it will come easier." He didn't know too much about how to give advice to Psychic types, but he tried to remember what he'd learned when he had been teaching himself how to play chess. "Just believe in yourself, and concentrate. Focus from the depths of your mind. You have the power in you. Just believe in yourself." He waited, still knelt down beside the Baltoy. Perhaps, he saw something of himself in the small pokemon. Struggling to master the powers of the mind.

The spinning top pokemon made a slight smile of some sort & lifted its tilted head of shame & disappointment. It nodded, having heard the advice.
