Michael hadn't been away from his group of mice-like Pokemon for more than a few days, but he missed them a lot. Hell, even after just being away from them for a day caused him to miss them a lot. Sadly, now that he was at the Pokemon Academy, he wouldn't get to see them again for awhile. Maybe he'd be able to make a trip home at some point to see them....maybe.
Getting into the school, Mike looked at his map. He still had some distance to go to get to the lab, unfortunately. With a little sigh, he sped up a bit. He didn't want to be late for his test.
Rushing a bit down the hall, he made the turns needed and soon stopped in front of the lab. Pushing the doors open, Michael looked around, arching up an eyebrow. "Hello? Anyone here?" he asked tentatively. Taking a few more steps in, he sighed. "Um...It's Michael Kord....I'm here for my test?" he called out, not sure if he was early or late....or just in the wrong place.

Good morning world. How are you today? That's wonderful. Oh, me? Funny you should ask. I'm actually feeling... Nervous.
Kasia dreamily stared off into space. She missed her kitten already, but she fervently hoped she could get a new one sometime during her stay at the academy. She was shaken gently from her reverie as they arrived at the island. Nothing was as it used to be. This was the end of the beginning. From here on out, it's a new chapter. She walked quickly, hoping to arrive at the lab which she had been told to report to before she was late. She wondered what was in store for her. Perhaps they would be willing to tell her before actually sending her back on her way out into the campus? Who knew...
The lab came into view and she hesitated. Not without her doubts, she finally stepped up to the door and pushed her way in to see what awaited her. Someone was already there, standing facing away from her. She had to admit... from what she could see, he was quite good-looking. A bit short perhaps, but the blonde hair and his form appealed to her. She hoped that he was, as she suspected, another student, and not actually the person who was in charge of sending the new people off to their dorms... That would be awkward.

Luckily for Kasia, someone would step up to the to of them, alleviating her concerns about whether or not Michael would be the one giving them their test. It would instead be Elena Roan, the Battle Tactics teacher. She was pulling double duty...during her time off when she wasn't teaching her class, she decided and volunteer and help out at the lab. Her role was simple. Test the students to see which dorm they were most suited for.
"Welcome, both of you, to the Pokemon Academy. I am Elena Roan. I teach Battle Tactics at this academy, and, on this day, I will also be providing your placement tests...so there's two of you, then? Very well. If you would follow me." She immediately began walking, assuming they would follow, until they entered a room. In the room was a battle arena. Handing the two of them each a Poke Ball, and a small card. Inside Michalel's Poke Ball was a Simisear, while Kasia's contained a Typhlosion.
"Very well. The rules of the test are as such. The two of you will battle me using the Pokemon in the balls I just gave you. The cards I just gave you list some of the moves that the Pokemon can use, in case you're unfamiliar with the Pokemon you're using. Depending on how well you do, you will be placed in one of the dorms. Also, should you lose, don't worry. Failure does not automatically result in being placed in the lowest dorm." And with that, Elena sent out two Pokemon of her own, a Hariyama and a Gallade. "You two may have the first move. I pray you will not disappoint me."
Michael's card: - Flame Burst - Bite - Shadow Claw - Dig - Amnesia
Kasia's Card - Lava Plume - Crush Claw - Toxic - Smokescreen - Wild Charge

Michael wouldn't admit it, but he was getting a little antsy having to wait. He really wanted to get this test on the go so he could get his first Pokemon and his dorm. And when he heard the door open, he hoped that this would be the instructor. But when he turned around to see the person, he noticed it was someone who looked a bit younger than him...but also about a half foot taller. He nodded to the other and gave her a little smile. He was a bit surprised to see another here with him, but he didn't mind too much. Maybe he'd get to go against her as his test. That could be fun.
"Hey, it looks li-" Mike began, but stopped talking when the teacher walked in. Going quiet, Michael turned around and nodded to Elena, who proceeded to give both him and the girl a Pokeball. This was followed by a card and the teenager examined it. Tossing up the Pokeball he was given, he heard the Simisear call out. Blinking, he looked at the list.
He watched the teachers Pokemon, and his mind began figuring out the typing's and the types of moves on his card. With a little smirk, he didn't wait for the other student to act. "Simisear! Use Shadow Claw on the Gallade!" he ordered. The Simisear nodded and his right fist began to shine in a dark hue. Charging at the Psychic/Fighting type, it aimed to hit him with the Ghost attack.

Kasia was relieved to see that they would be fighting together. When he smiled at her, she blushed a bit, but she snapped out of it as soon as she heard the door opening again. Wishing that she could have heard the rest of Michael's sentence, she whirled around, her hair bouncing over her shoulders, and tensed up when she saw the teacher walk in. Elena, she said her name was.
She snatched the pokeball out of the air with the deft and grace of long practice throwing and grabbing balls of yarn when she played with her cats back at home, and read the index card. With a sinking feeling, she saw that she knew almost nothing about those attacks. Well, no reason to get worked up over something that she was already sure she was going to fail. She didn't mind getting placed low at all, just as long as someday she'd have her very own cat pokemon. "Go! Typhlosion! Give Hariyama a nice thick Smokescreen so that it won't be able to back the Gallade up!" she called out as she spun the pokeball out of her hand. With a flash of light, it appeared and instantly shot Smokescreen towards its opponents, mostly towards the Hariyama. A few stray wisps floated across Gallade's visage as well, and Kasia winced. It had really not been what she had in mind.

The Gallade was struck by the Shadow Claw, which did some damage and seemed to have a rather strong effect on him...or, at least, it would have, had the Gallade not erected a barrier at the last second to completely negate the damage. Elena smiled "Excellent use of Protect...I almost wish you were my own Pokemon." The Gallade smirked. She then looked to other Pokemon to see how they were faring.
The Hariyama had been surrounded with smoke, which cut his visibility a bit, making it harder for him to attack. With a smile, she turned to the Hariyama and shouted out her orders "Take aim at the Simisear! Use Brine!" The Hariyama set his sights on the Simisear, water swirling around his massive hand. With a powerful throwing motion, he launched the water at the fire-monkey. Elena watched quietly to see how the new students would respond.

Mike cursed his breathe. Even though he had hit, he hadn't hit with much strength thanks to the Protect. Quickly glancing at his card as the girl ordered out the Smokescreen, he figured he now had some time to think. "What would be good to use? Whatwhatwhat?" he questioned under his breath. He'd need something to work well along side the Typhlosion beside him. Looking to the girl, he gave her a friendly smile and a little wink before looking back to the Simisear.
"Quick! Dodge and use Dig!" he ordered. The Simisear nodded and jumped into the air. As he got into the ground, his backside was hit with the Brine. This stopped his digging briefly, but soon he kept going. "Wait for my order than hit the Gallade!" he ordered, letting the Simisear keep digging.

Kasia glanced at Michael when he murmured, and when he smiled she smiled back. She was just about to turn her attention back to the battle when she caught him wink. A bright pink coming to her cheeks, she gave him a sultry grin before flicking her hair back towards the battle. Feeling a bit rash from the sudden rush of blood to her head, she called out, "Back up the Simisear with Wild Charge on the Gallade, let's go!"
It would hurt the Typhlosion a bit, but it would hurt the Gallade much more. Plus, if she could sufficiently distract the Gallade, it would help the Simisear get in a clean shot with Dig. Typhlosion began to crackle with electricity as it shot through the spikes of its fur and over its flames, worrying them into flaring and sparking unevenly. It shot forward, gathering speed as it rushed towards the Gallade.

The Gallade was stuck by the Wild Charge, which knocked him back a bit, but he still had some fight left. Still, There was the issue of the Simisear using Dig...there was something she could do about it, but she chose not to resort to that...at least, not yet. For now, she would simply nod, as both of her Pokemon set their sights on the Tyranitar, since the Simisear had briefly removed himself from the battle.
"Alright, Gallade! Use Psycho Cut! Hariyama! Use Force Palm! Strike now!" The two of them nodded. The blades extending from the Gallade began to pulse with psychic energy, as he charged toward the Tyranitar. Once close enough, he'd make an attempt to slash him with these blades. As the Gallade made his attack, the Hariyama was close to follow. His large palm began surging with energy, and, once the Gallade was out of the way, he charged toward the Typhlosion, aiming to deliver an open-palmed strike.
[dice=10] "If the die lands on 1-3, the Typhlosion is paralyzed if the attack hits."

After she smiled, and he winked, Michael was positive he saw her start to blush. My my, did he do that? Perhaps coming to this school really was a good idea. Just having this match with this tall girl beside him had gotten him to be a bit bolder and more open. Then again, it could just be something about the girl.
He was happy when she got the Typhlosion to back up his[/s] Simisear. He didn't order the Monkey-like Pokemon to attack yet, as he was waiting for the girls Pokemon to do what it was ordered to do. And after he did what he was ordered, the others were ordered to retaliate. Michael waited briefly. He wanted them closer to the Typhlosion. "NOW, DIG!" he ordered. Simisear jumped out of the ground toward the Gallade, aiming to use Dig, using his head as the ram to smack against the Psychic/Fighting type.
"Quick and defend the girls Typhlosion. Use Shadow Claw again while you're close to the Gallade" he ordered, not wanting the girl to lose. The Simisear huffed at the work it was putting in, getting tired. He weakly drew his arms back and it glowed darkly and it swiped at the Gallade.

As soon as she heard the teacher telling both of the pokemon to attack, she cried out, "Typhlosion! Get outta there double-time!" It instantly landed on all fours and scrambled away as fast as it could, easily avoiding Hariyama with its superior speed. "Get behind the Gallade, and use Crush Claw while it's focused on the Simisear!" Kasia gratefully glanced at Mike. That Shadow Claw seemed like it should slow down Gallade at least a bit, which would be helpful. She could see that Typhlosion moved fast, but she wasn't sure if it was fast enough to out-manuever that powerful Gallade. The pokemon came to a stop just behind the Gallade, rearing up on its hind legs and lifting its gleaming claws up in the same smooth motion as it prepared to strike down with Crush Claw.

The Hariyama looked bewildered as his attack was dodged, and his balance was thrown off, resulting in him being unable to assist the Gallade as he was struck with three attacks. He went down, and Elena nodded. Returning both of her Pokemon, she called out to the two of them "Very well! I see that you both have great potential, and are able to work well together. The both of you have impressed me...and that isn't easy." She then looked to the side "Musashi! Hanzo!"
As she called out the names of her own personal Pokemon, a Samurott and Bisharp appeared, each holding a yellow belt and a case. These cases held three Poke Balls each. Elena nodded "Very well. Both of you did well enough to earn the Yellow Rank. These are the belts that prove you are of that rank. In these cases are three Pokemon. Both of you may choose a Pokemon from these cases. You only get one starter Pokemon, so choose wisely."
Michael's case:
Kasia's case
Elena smiled. "And with that...I wish you both well in your endeavors as students at this academy. And if you ever need help with battling or training, feel free to seek my advice"

Kasia's heart leapt with joy; she'd be in the same dorm as Mike! She turned, a bright red coming to her cheeks as she looked at him more carefully, stealing glance after glance whenever she thought he wasn't looking at her. Sure he was a little shorter... but that made it all the more fun for her. She took the belt and the case of pokeballs, forcing her attention away from Mike just a moment to look at what pokemon she had.
Sandshrew? Her face quickly paled and she nearly dropped the case. Even while in a pokeball... She gingerly took the case in the other hand, holding it a bit away from her face. Spoink? Hm... tempting. The beautiful pink pearl on its head would be great for coordinating, if she decided that she did want to go with it. Stunky? Her heart skipped a beat. It looked like a cat! Happily, she picked up the last pokeball and glanced excitedly towards Mike, waiting to see what he would choose.

A New Friend
In Person and Pokemon When they were told about their dorms, Mike felt his face go bright red. Sure he had been a bit bold and quite confident earlier when it came to remarking about the girl beside him, but he didn't know they'd get into the same dorm, and presumably, the same room. And when he looked over to her, he tried to hid his blush, despite being sure he saw her blushing too. He looked at the balls and took what was handed to him. When he looked over to what she had been given to choose from, his eyes widened. "Aw, a Sandshrew. Wish I had gotten that one" he told the girl, noticing her taking the Skunky. He noticed the slight cat-like appearance to it, but it wasn't enough to make him make any really big deal about it. As he looked to his list, he noticed the Buneary ball. It wasn't the most rodent like thing out there, but it was closer to the cactus and the...bug thing. He grabbed the ball and let out the female Buneary who instantly hopped up and hugged his head. "Buneary!" it seemingly swooned. With a laugh, Mike gave it a pet. "My my, aren't you the little affectionate thing. I think you and I will get along great, Lola" he said to the bunny before looking to Kas. "Shall...we go to our dorm..since we'll be rooming together and all" he suggested with a blush, before heading off with his new Pokemon and roommate.
