DJ smiled as he explored around the courtyard, finally getting a hang of making his way around the academy and already working through a few of his classes. He had almost a full team of pokemon already and had obtained a pokemon through his first trade. Not to mention it was just a few days after his most recent birthday and he had received a letter and package for his big day. The letter had his name on it and was addressed from his hometown, presumably from his sister Jessica. He opened the envelope, taking out the letter inside and holding it up to read.
Dear Rookie Brother,
I know you went off to school to become awesome like your big sis, and even though that'll probably never happen I admire the effort. So I thought my worthless little brother could use some help along the way. For your birthday I offer you this pokemon of mine, she's had some training with me and my pokemon so she's not completely green like you (well she IS green, but she's not a rookie, haha, you see what I did there?). But she has a hard time opening up so my pokemon have had a hard time training her. Maybe if you can help her out you'll have a shred of my awesomeness. I know you need all the help you can get if you're going to be a half-decent trainer so have a pokemon that has seen my awesomeness firsthand! Good luck worthless brother, I'll be looking down on you from the top!
Your Awesome Sister,
Jess
PS: I love you very very much
DJ blinked and smiled at the letter, shaking his head and chuckling softly at his sister's arrogance and bravado along with her aggressive and extravagant ways. He looked at the package, wondering what kind of pokemon she would leave him to deal with. "Probably got me a Magikarp or something." His face flattened as he stared at the box. "This pokemon is just like you worthless brother~!" He did his best female voice with a few effeminate motions and an arrogant aristocratic laugh. "... I'm glad no one saw that, I hope..."
With that out of the way he took the package in hand and opened it up, taking the safely wrapped pokeball out of the box. The ball was blue with black netting pattern on it, much different than the other pokeballs in his collection. "A Net Ball? Wow, never seen a pokemon in one of these before, sis must have went all out." he chuckled before tapping the ball open, releasing the pokemon within.
"SCYTHER!" The released pokemon called out, stretching its wings and bladed scythes wide, almost hitting the trainer and other things around her.
DJ fell back at the sudden entrance, staring in disbelief at the Mantis pokemon in front of him. "Holy crap... no way... Jess got me a Scyther!?" DJ gaped at his new pokemon. The Scyther shot a glare at him, recognizing him as her new trainer but not looking happy about it. She crossed her legs and sat in a meditating position, her back facing the boy as if ignoring him, hoping to get her training accomplished without any interaction with him whatsoever. DJ sweatdropped a bit as he watched the creature's cold attitude towards him. "Well... this is going to be fun." He chuckled nervously.
