To say that Arabella was disappointed with her egg from breeding class was a bit of an understatement. Not that she had a problem with a future Gyarados, but she could go to nearly any stream anywhere in the world and catch a Magikarp.
Anyway, that might have been one reason that she was once more hiking up the volcano. She remembered those Growlithe she'd seen the first time she'd come up here, and though nothing had come of that, she hoped to maybe find them again. Especially the leader. He seemed organized and tough, and that was something Arabella could respect.
Junior walked along next to his trainer, his tail dragging. It was way too hot to be doing this again, and he had let Arabella know how he had felt about the suggestion by shocking her. She still hadn't listened to him, just called him spoiled and that they needed another Pokemon. Then she'd hugged him and before he knew it, there they were again! He just wished they'd go somewhere cooler...

As usual, the volcano was hot, humid, and annoyingly hot today, it almost felt as if it had been much hotter than usual. Perhaps it's just your imagination.
Speaking of imagination, look at that pretty pond right there. Wait, no, it's a mirage.
In any case, there really doesn't seem to be anything of interest here besides a couple rocks and the overly-used fork in the road. You could stay here and look around for something, or just simply move on. It's HOT.
Possible directions are north, west, or east if you decide to move on.

Junior was tricked by the mirage. His eyes widened and his tongue stuck out as he ran forward to begin lapping up the water...Only to yank backwards and screech in horror when his tongue started to burn against the hot ground. Horrified, Bella ran over to him and picked him up, unscrewing the cap on one of the four bottles of water she'd brought, and helping him get a drink. He stared at her like it was all her fault.
Of course, he hadn't been quiet, and surely something had overheard his screams?

<Mod Post> Something was indeed startled by the sudden movement and the tortured, pained yells of the Shinx. A couple violent growls, followed by a screech were heard, followed by absolute silence. Something seemed to have been happening in the east-bound path, and it didn't sound pretty at all.
Possible directions are north, west, and east. Something seems to be going on east-bound. You can check it out or take another path.

As soon as Junior heard the commotion, he shut his eyes. "Let's not go that way." He muttered in pokespeak. Of course, Arabella couldn't understand what he'd said.
"Let's go, Junior. You know Coralie would never forgive us if we didn't try to find out what's going on." Arabella scratched behind the young Shinx's ears, and he softened, nodding once. He liked Coralie, she brushed him and gave him lots of cuddles and pets.
Setting the Shinx back down, Arabella headed off along the East path.
