Velyn relished in the heat as he pushed himself up towards the mountain. His face was just beginning to gain the healthy glow of working out as he clambered over another boulder, surprisingly nimble for his height and thick muscles. He kept Whistle in her pokeball, not wanting to tire her out. She would need all her strength when they were ready to battle.
He made sure to not get too close to the top of the volcano. The last thing he needed was a firey pokemon descending down on him and burning him to a crisp. No, for now, he'd have to stay towards the bottom of it and hope that he wouldn't encounter any fire pokemon. If he did... Well, running wasn't what he did best... but he would probably run a hell of a lot faster with a fire-breathing pokemon at his heels.
Feeling tight knots bunching and clenching in his stomach and in his fists at the thought of a challenge, Velyn sprang up and onward, searching for any sign of pokemon that he could potentially battle and perhaps capture. He was warmed up and pumped up. It was a pity that this battle would be between Whistle and a wild pokemon, not between him and a wild pokemon... cause that was just how ready he was.

The Volcano would be a risky place for someone with a Grass/Bug Pokemon. Two out of the three types that were there could easily beat that type of combo. But then again, two of those three could also be beaten by that combination. It would be very hit or miss. The ground around the trainer began to shake and rumble. It all soon stopped however, and popping out of the ground a few feet away from him, a Drilbur came out of the ground and scratched it's head. It was looking around, trying to spot something.

As the ground began to move and shift, Velyn felt a churning in his stomach. Was it an earthquake? But wait... no! It was a... a... something! A pokemon at any rate. And it was pretty darn close to perfect! Close enough for him. He looked it up and down as it clambered out of its hole. "Hey there," he said cheerfully. "What're you looking for?" He carefully walked around the mole-like pokemon, positioning himself close to the hole, before kneeling down so that he was closer to its height. It was pretty small still, and even when he was kneeling, it barely reached to his knees. He added, more softly, "I want you to meet someone. Whistle, come on out." The Sewaddle appeared and gave a cute smile to the Drilbur.

Still looking around, when the voice came up, the Drillbur looked back to where it came from. It was a bit shocked to see a human so bold to talk to it. His shock turned into surprise when the Pokeball flashed open. It stumbled back a bit before looking at both. "BUR!" it called out, digging his claws into the ground. Flinging them up, he tossed some mud at both the Sewaddle and the trainer It had sprung a Mud-Slap attack at both.

Whistle made a loud, shrill noise of shock and anger, and Velyn threw his hands up in front of his face to shield it from most of the mud. Spatting dirt from his mouth, and rather angry now, the sting on Velyn's hands and arms was nothing compared to the sting on his pride. He'd just been splattered wtih mud. Disgusting! What would his mom say if she saw him now? Whistle, who had less success in blocking the mud, gave a small, unhappy whimper.
Velyn glared at the Drilbur. Now this was personal. "Whistle, use Razor Leaf!" She gave one last angry huff before pulling herself to her maximum height (a whopping 12 inches) and sent a barrage of sharp leaves hurling towards the Drilbur.

Drilbur had expected his attack to hide his escape somewhat better than it had. While he could have burrowed into the ground again, he had foolishly tried to run after attacking. He hadn't heard the attack called, and thus was smacked square in the back of the head, critical hit, with the Super Effective move. He fell to the ground and face planted hard. "B-Buuurrrr" it groaned, face down in a puddle.

Velyn stared, surprised, at the pokemon who simply keeled over. It seemed... too easy. Still, he didn't want to hurt the poor thing any more than necessary. "Alright then... Go pokeball!" As the pokeball flew towards it, he murmured to the Sewaddle at his side, "If this doesn't work... be ready to use String Shot on it so it can't get away so easily."

CONGRATS! Drilbur was caught! He has the Sand Force ability and a Hasty nature. This Drilbur can be a bit complicated. He's not a big fan of people being so bold when they approach him, but he's friendly. However, when surprised, he will quickly attack and lash out.

Velyn found it difficult to believe that this capture was real and done. He walked towards the pokeball, slowly and carefully, still unable to comprehend the fact that this Drilbur was now his. At last, he turned to Whistle with a jubilant look on his face. "Hey, Whistly, we got a new friend!" He took several large steps towards it, and knelt down, picking up the pokeball carefully in his two hands. After a long moment, he turned to show it to his Sewaddle.
"Se-sew!" she chirped happily, agreeing with her master. She proceeded to crawl over to the pokeball which was still lying still on Velyn's hand, and she eagerly pressed the button to release the Drilbur, wanting to meet him properly now that he wasn't attacking her. "Hey there," she said with a happy smile, bowing her head to the Drilbur respectfully. "How are you feeling?"
The Drilbur groaned softly, seeming a bit unsteady on his feet. Then he proceeded to scowl at Whistle, still not liking how she'd used Razor Leaf on him. Velyn swallowed heavily. Perhaps this was... not the best of things to do right now... "Okay now, everybody just... relax. Let's all just go back into our pokeballs and head back to the dorm, mkay?" Without waiting for any real answer, he pulled the two pokeballs out and returned his pokemon. Both of them. Smiling to himself as the tension died away, leaving the still warm, fuzzy feeling alone, he headed back for the dorms.
