Adriel was taking a break from training with her newest ally, the Shieldon she caught in the Gravity Caves. Being the only one who hadn't received any form of training thus far, Adriel decided to focus on her for the time being. Her Wartortle, the one with the most experience training with Adriel, was overseeing Wall's training and giving her some occasional advice, having gone through it first-hand.
The beach training was the same as always...Adriel erected make-shift targets out of sand, and the Shieldon would use those to practice her moves. It was crude, but effective. Of course, the Shieldon would rather bash her head against a wall all day, but she decided to try things Adriel's way. Little by little, she was improving. Her main weakness was that her offensive stats weren't very high...she could take hits well enough, but she wasn't able to dish out damage very well. Adriel planned on changing this as much as possible...starting with improving her accuracy.

Once again, Thomas hugged Clay his Tauros. And it really was his. His parents had been able to send it to him from their farm as a gift for him. No real special occasion, they had just felt like Thomas would enjoy seeing one of his old Pokemon. And he did. The only problem was, Clay wasn't a big fan of all of Tom's new Pokemon. It felt replaced, especially whenever Tumtum was out. He was Tom's main guy back on the farm and he was simply replaced now? By something that could eat everything on the farm in mere seconds!
With the Tauros out, Thomas as walked with Suma on his opposite side, and Regal flying overhead. For being a Pokemon Thomas received in a trade, Regal the Wingel hadn't been used too much. Maybe the group could get in some training today, which would be nice. As Thomas kept walking along the beach, the young farm boy spotted someone and her Pokemon out by the water. She looked familiar, like he had seen her even before school . He knew he had seen her a few times around the school, but her name was escaping him. That was annoying...
Wandering in her direction, he would greet her when he was close enough.

As she heard someone greet her, Adriel blinked and looked around a bit. She didn't notice him approach, but it only took her a moment to find him. There was something about Tom that seemed familiar, and it wasn't just from seeing him around school...however, she couldn't quite put her finger on what it was. Nevertheless, she pushed it to the back of her mind for now.
With a smile, she responded "Hey there...um...Tom, right?" She was actually quite good at remembering names, even if she hadn't met the person whose name she was remembering. All she needed was a name and a face. Her Wartortle looked curious to the three Pokemon at Tom's side, while her Shieldon seemed less interested. Adriel herself turned a little pale upon noticing the Wingul, and she backed away some. Despite her nervousness, however, Adriel spoke "S-so...what brings you out here?"

As Thomas and his group came closer and the girl replied back, the voice triggered something for Thomas. Not old dormant memories, but just something that reminded him of who it was. Adriel. "Yep, and you're Adriel, right?" he asked back to her. He then remembered back to his friends mention Adriel and her fear of Bird-like Pokemon. That may have been why she reacted in such a way that she did. Thomas looked to Regal, then muttered an apology to him before taking out the Pokeball and returning him.
Suma glanced at the Pokemon the girl had out and focused more on the Wartortle. Compared to the Shieldon, it seemed like it'd be a tougher opponent to train againt. That was, if his trainer wanted to do some training today. Suma did, he loved it. And he wanted to become a Hariyama some day too. They were so strong. "As for what brings me here, mostly out for a walk, maybe some training. Yourself?"
Clay, on the other hand, just looked at all the small Pokemon around him. When it looked at Adriel, his head tilted. She seemed... familiar. He remembered a little girl, not one of Tom's little sisters or Cora, but another. She didn't visit often, but he was good at remembering people he had seen. And this girl seemed very familiar. He took a few more steps in front of Thomas then looked at Adriel, his eyes narrowing. Sniffing, but staying a bit further away from her to make sure her Pokemon didn't think of him as a threat. When he got her scent, he took a step back, and his eyes softened. Clay stepped froward again and gently bobbed his head at Adriel, know figuring out who she was, knowing she was that girl he had met all those years ago.

Adriel let out a sigh of relief, growing more comfortable as the bird disappeared from her sight. "...sorry about that...in case you hadn't heard, I don't do very well around birds. It's something I'm working on overcoming, though." She felt rather awkward about the whole thing, but she was at the point that she was more or less used to the idea of everyone knowing about..as opposed to when she tried (and failed spectacularly) to hide it.
When he returned the question she asked him, she nodded "Same thing, pretty much...training the newest member of my team." She motioned to the the Shieldon as she spoke. As the Tauros seemed to check her out, she blinked. Yet another nostalgic feeling that she couldn't quite explain. Finally, it reached the point that she couldn't help but ask. "...okay, I realize this is coming out of nowhere, but do I know you?...and I don't mean just from this school...'cause...I could swear I've seen this Tauros before, except the last time I saw one was when I was a little girl. And...normally, something like this would bother me, but I'm getting the same feeling from you..." She felt weird asking something like that out of the blue, but it finally reached the point of bugging her enough to where shouldn't couldn't not say something.

"Ya, figured as much when I saw your reaction" Thomas stated back, when the girl mentioned about the bird. He nodded when she added that she was working to better it. That was good, and it showed how determined the girl was. She new her fear and wanted to overcome it. "Best of luck with that. If you ever need to see how you've come, I've got two birds, both friendly and wont bite" he told her with a little nod. He was always willing to help.
When the conversation shifted to training, it quickly changed once more. With Clay's overly friendly attitude toward the girl, it seemed both Thomas and Adriel were made to ponder the past a bit. When she asked him if she knew him, he paused and thought. A small hmm escaped his lips and a thoughtful look appeared. She too seemed familiar, as if they knew each other from before school. "Hm, not unless you're from Hoenn and have visited the Faye Ranch before" Thomas stated. At the mention of visiting the Faye Ranch, Clay shook and looked at the girl. "If not Hoenn, the Faye's have Ranch's all over the place, Johto, Kanto....Sinnoh. We're a big family and I travel a lot...What's your last name? Maybe you're a regular to one of my cousins in some region? I spent a few weeks each summer with Clay in those regions" Thomas questioned, starting to get the feeling that yes, they had known each other when they were younger.

And that did it. The moment Tom mentioned a ranch, memories came back to her all at once. "...whoa...now that you mention it, there was a ranch by that name in Johto. One of my moms was a breeder, and she always went there to get supplies. Sometimes I went with her, and got to play with the Pokemon there...I occasionally saw a boy there too, though I never really talked to him..." Then it finally clicked "...so wait! That was you, wasn't it?!"
All of it was hitting her at once...the memories, and the reason why both Thomas and this Tauros seemed so familiar. "...holy crap that brings back memories...but yeah. My last name is Sorano...Elena, my mother who was a breeder? She had her last name changed when she moved in together with my other mother, Alicia. And, when they adopted me, I was given that name too." Adriel then nodded "Heh...small world, eh? Come to think of it...isn't the new Exploration Teacher...what was her name again?...anyways, she's your sister, right? So does that mean she was usually there with you? 'Cause...for some reason, I hardly remember her at all."

Thomas nodded to the girl as she spoke. He hadn't noticed it, but by mentioning that the Faye's had Ranches everywhere, he was given a slight feeling that his family was something like the Joy and Jenny families. Well, minus the fact that not everyone in his family looked the same.
The young Faye hadn't heard the exact words the girl said, mainly the part that would inform him that she had two moms, but he heard the other parts. He nodded to it. "Ya, Aunt Elsa and Uncle Jack only have daughters, so if you saw a boy, it was more than likely me" he laughed. Clay knocked his hoof onto the ground and then sat down in front of the two trainers and let out a happy sigh. Thomas listened as the girl gave her last name and continued on.
"Haha, I know what you mean" he remarked to the memories comments. And then came the last name: Sorano. And then her moms name, Elena and Alicia Sorano. The Faye's in Sinnoh had a large of 'Sorano's' that came by quite a lot, but that obviously wasn't this girls family. "Very small world. I'll have to tell Aunt Elsa about this. Maybe your moms will be coming by for some supplies sometime soon" he stated, then heard something about his sister. "Ya, that's Alice...Um, if I were you, I'd watch out for her. She kinda...can get aggressive and lust-y around young girls....Actually, come to think of it, she gets like that around any female...." he stated, drifting off. But then she asked again about her and Thomas snapped back into it. "Nah, she never liked staying put. She was often out exploring. I know, that's surprising for an Exploration teacher" he joked.
"She really liked just...going anywhere and everywhere" he added, before looking to the girls Pokemon. "They look a little ancy, like they want a battle" Thomas commented. "Sorry for the off topic turn, but what would you say to a battle?" he offered.

As Tom spoke about his sister, she nodded...and couldn't help but blush brightly when he brought up her "habits" around young girls "...I...I see..." the next part was muttered under her breath, only barely loud enough for Tom to hear "...that would explain it..." Alas, she quickly pushed the mental images out of her mind, just in time for her to catch Tom's comment regarding her Pokemon, followed by a challenge to a battle.
Indeed, her Wartortle was itching for a battle, just as the Makuhita had been. She looked quietly to the Water-type and nodded "How 'bout it, Flood. It's been a while since you've been in a proper battle." Though she remained calm as she nodded in agreement, her thoughts were basically to the effect of 'FINALLY! I THOUGHT THEY'D NEVER ASK.' As such, Adriel nodded "A battle sounds great. Look's like my Wartortle is rarin' to go." The Shieldon let out a jealous huff, and Adriel blinked "...how about two Pokemon each? Wanna battle one-on-one Or a double battle?"

Noticing the girls blush and hearing her muttered words, Thomas didn't try to poke at those. They seemed a bit...personal. He hoped, however, this girl wasn't thinking about trying anything with Alice. Alice...didn't have any problems being with minors...nor did she have problems letting people know about it. But, then again, if that was what the girl was thinking about, he didn't have much of a say in it. People could do what they wanted. Maybe I should warn her? he thought in his head. Given the mutter and blush, it was clear and easy to tell this girl was, at least, bisexual, if not a lesbian, much like his sister. So thinking about warning her wasn't just a crap shot guess of her orientation, but a simple deduction.
At her comment back about the battling, he nodded with a smile. Shieldon and Wartortle. Good two Pokemon. Thomas wasn't one for outright type advantages against people, he liked even matches. Unfortunately the closest he had to making this all even was Regal matching up against Shieldon, but Adriel was scared of birds. That, in itself, was an advantage. One Thomas wouldn't exploit.
He looked to his Makuhita then pulled out Oshawotts Pokeball. "Suma's always looking for a fight, and Trip could go for one too" he stated, releasing his Oshawott. Trip pulled off his scalchop and struck a heroic pose as he came out of his Pokeball. "And how about one against one, when one faints, the next comes out?" he offered, nodding to Trip. Trip scuttled forward, to take centre stage first. Thomas called Suma and Clay back, so they could give the battle some space. "If you think this is a good set up, I'll let you have the first move" Thomas offered, ready and waiting.

Adriel nodded. Even though she was fully aware of the type disadvantage she would be at while battling with her Shieldon against Tom's Oshawott, both of them wwere still up for the challenge...if they were lucky, a well-timed Protect or two might help them win. But Adriel would have to worry about that later. For now, the fight was a bit more even and straightforward. Her Wartortle would be going against Thomas' Makuhita.
Upon listening to Tom's idea for the rules, she nodded quietly. "Sounds good to me!" Then, with a smile, she looked to her Wartortle, beginning once the other Pokemon were out of the way. "Alright, Flood! Let's start it off with a Rain Dance, then follow it with Aqua Tail!" The Wartortle nodded. A small orb of water-based energy formed between her paws, which she immediately launched into the sky. Almost immediately, a downpour started. For anyone who wasn't a Water-type, this could be bad. Then, a large amount of water began swirling around her large fluffy tail. Charging toward the Makuhita, she, once close enough, made an attempt to strike with the tail.

Thomas would have tried to make the type matching against the Shieldon a bit more even, but he hadn't brought anything to match against it very well. Though, Wingull would have provided an even fight, Adriel was terrified of birds, and that, in itself, would be an unfair advantage. Thomas wasn't one to fight like that. It was cheap and not very mannerly...That was probably why he wasn't going to become an amazing trainer: he wasn't willing to exploit peoples weaknesses.
When the girl told Wartortle to go out for the battle, Thomas nodded to Suma. The Makuhita smirked and punched his glove-like hands together. And as he waddled onto the field, the Rain began to come down. Suma scowled and muttered to himself. He didn't enjoy the rain. Fortunately for him, however, his trainer was smirking. He was glad the Wartortle was using a move that would get in close. "Hold your ground Suma. When the Wartortle gets in close, use Vital Throw" Thomas ordered. Suma stomped the ground, causing the now muddy ground to splash up dirt. When Flood's tail gave him a water smack across the face, Suma made a rough grab for the fluffy tail and went to throw the Water Pokemon backwards.

Both Adriel and her Wartortle were caught off guard by the sudden throw...her Wartortle more so. The Water-type was launched into the air and hit the sand rather hard. Vital Throw was a risky move to use, but it paid off when used well, as both of them had just learned the hard way. Looking back, Adriel realized she probably could've used Iron Defense to lessen the damage...but oh well.Once she was back on her feet, the Wartortle nodded to Adriel, indicating she was ready to go. Looking toward the Makuhita, Adriel nodded "Fine then...if we can't get close, then we'll attack from a distance! Flood, use Water Pulse!" The Wartortle nodded. Between her paws, she formed a large orb of water...which was a bit larger than it normally would have been, due to the rain making it stronger. From there, she launched the orb at the opponent.

When Wartortle came in close and was tossed over Suma's shoulder, Thomas got excited. All right, both him and Suma were now full into the fight. It always took a good hit on his part before Thomas would get right into the match. He wasn't the most hardcore battler, but Suma was. Where Thomas needed to see his Pokemon was in the mood to battle before he himself invested in it, Suma was always in the mood to fight. But for him, he needed to feel like he could beat his opponent. Most Makuhita's sought out tougher opponents, and Suma was no different, but unlike others, he didn't like having any doubts.
When Adriel and Wortortle got back into it, Thomas made a mental nod to her. He had known already that she was probably going to switch it up to more ranged attacks. Most Fighting Attacks were close range moves, so if a trainer was smart, they'd try to keep up the distance. It sucked for Thomas and Suma though, because Suma was fairly slow, but hopefully he could still get in close. It was then, however, while Thomas was in thought, that the Water Pulse hit his Makuhita.
"Damn. Um, um. Oh! Suma, use your strength and push against the Pulse and get in close to use Arm Thrust!" Thomas ordered. Suma stuck out his arms and the water went from hitting his massive body to hitting his hands and dispersing. Spitting out some water, Suma waddled forward, pushing forward, ready to use his glowing hands to strike with the Arm Thrust.

They watched as the Makuhita made an attempt to push the Water Pulse back. Then, the attempt to keep it a long-range battle failed as the Makuhita, with surprising speed, closed in for a an assault with Arm Thrust. The Wartortle decided to brace herself and simply endure the attack, since she had an idea of what Adriel might do next. And indeed, she was right. Normally, point-blank range was the last place a Pokemon facing a Fighting-type wanted to be. But Adriel had other plans.
"Alright Flood! While it's still close by! Use Hydro Pump!" It was one of the most powerful Water-type attacks, surpassed in pure power by only two other moves. And this Wartortle had grown quite skilled in using it. Just as the Makuhita finished the punishing barrage of open-palmed strikes, the Wartortle opened her mouth and unleashed a massive high-pressured blast of water, which had so much force that the recoil launched the Water-type backward several feet. It was a somewhat risky move for her, to use, considering how it easily threw her off balance, but it was effective if used well.

Thomas wasn't surprised to see Suma push forward through the water. It was easy to tell he wasn't weak and a true Makuhita. Makuhita's rarely showed any sort of pain and Suma was a prime example of that. They always went against the odds, and considering he was going against a middle stager, he fit the bill well. Unfortunately, he was about to see the downside of their honour.
When he got in close enough to finally strike, he was sent flying back thanks to a Hydro Pump. "MAKUUUUU!" it cried out as it smacked onto the ground and rolled back a few feet. Thomas rushed to his side and knelt beside him. He was done. Damn.
Returning his Fighting type to his Pokeball, he spoke to it, telling it that it did a good job. Thomas then looked to his own Water type. Trip nodded and rushed out and quickly took up a position trying to stand as heroically as possible. He was ready to defend his friend, Suma. He'd do his best.

Adriel smiled as she saw the Makuhita go down. It was true, she had an overall advantage due to her Wartortle having evolved once, but the small Fighting-type had put up more of a fight than expected. However, something happened that not even Adriel (or her Wartortle, for that matter) was expecting. After the battle was over, the Water-type was suddenly enveloped in a bright light. I was too bright to see the actual transformation take place, but once the light dimmed, a massive tortoise with cannons on its shoulders stood in the Wartortle's place. Flood had evolved into a Blastoise!
Adriel was barely containing the squeals of complete and utter joy that she was tempted to let out. It's only natural to be overjoyed when one of your best Pokemon finally reaches it's final form. However, as happy as she was, the battle wasn't over. Thus, the newly evolved Blastoise stepped aside, and her Shieldon took the field. Adriel knew she was at a huge disadvantage, but she was confident that she'd at least be able to put up a fight. "Alright, Wall. Get ready! Tom...since I went first in the last battle, I'll let you have the first move this time around!" And with that, they prepared themselves for the next battle.
