Despite being able to advance to the second round he would have enjoyed being able to battle. Suma would have enjoyed it too, knowing him. Being a Fighting type, he always loved a good fight and practice, but he didn't get that chance. For the second round, Tom was using Tumtum. The little Munchlax was nervous but psyched. Neither Tom or Munchlax knew who they'd be going against, but they were prepared. Tumtum was a Normal type, and that meant he had a lot of TM diversity, and Tom had played to that. Tumtum was now able to deal with most any types that came up, just with Tumtum. As the two walked onto the field, Thomas stood silently and waited for his opponent. Hopefully he'd stand a chance.

The Pokemon: Kai, Huo, Celeste Sage took a deep breath putting her mind in the right state to battle with adrenaline beginning to pump through her veins as her excitement for battle began to heighten. She changed her clothes right before the semi-final battle to a dark blue crop top with a red scarf around her neck, blue denim short shorts showing her toned legs from training her body, and black flat shoes. Feeling her silver-blond hair flow with the breezy wind as she strutted up the stairs to the arena, she widened her eyes seeing her friend Tom on the other side of the arena. She had heard that her other friend Speedy had forfeited from the competition and that Thomas had won by default but she did not really expect to be battling him in the semi-finals nor had she really wondered who she was going to battle overall. She was still peeved that she had lost against him a while battle and she had a valid reason to be mad a bit since losing to him was her first loss ever. She just hoped that thought didn’t interfere with her battling him once again. Once she got to her spot to battle, she grinned giving him a wink, “Can’t wait to battle you Tom” and paused continuing with a challenging tone of voice, “It’ll be fun.” She desperately needed to win against Thomas to make up for losing against him last time. She looked down and saw a Munchlax? Those pokemon were like the slowest pokemon she ever met and saw. She hoped this could work to her advantage with her Starmie by her side. She took out a slingshot from her black backpack and her pokemon’s pokeball from her silver belt getting ready to launch it from the slingshot’s pouch. She was going to use her new slingshot in her last battle but she had forgot and remembered just now. Finally, she stretched the pouch tightly aiming her pokeball up high. Out came out her Starmie, Kai who twirled back down to the arena as at the same time, she caught the pokeball with her free hand and put it back on her silver belt. She used her Starmie multiple times as a Staryu and then as a Starmie so she trusted Kai very much enough to believe that they both could win. All she needed to do was keep herself in that mindset. She put the slingshot back into her blackpack and looked at her Starmie proudly, “We can do this!” Her last battle she won with power and now, she hoped she could win with speed this time. She was getting to be a close friend of his and in their first match against each other, they split it. Her Luca beat his Aquila, but Kumajiro took the cake when he evolved during the battle and beat her Zeal. Unfortunately, that win didn't seem to sit well with her. Apparently she wasn't used to losing. Thomas let out a small mental chuckle at that. It was kind of funny. "Neither can I. I think you still owe me that dinner too, Sage" he teased. Watching as she slung out her Starmie, he was a bit surprised by how she brought it out into the battle. But bringing in the Pokemon wasn't the important part. The important part was the battle. "Alright Tumtum. Let's start this battle with a Screech" Thomas ordered. Munchlax's large mouth opened, and soon an ear splitting cry came out toward Starmie. "Now, follow that up with a Thunderbolt" the farmer ordered. Tumtum closed his mouth, and began to shine with a yellow aura before firing off a strong bolt of electricity at the Water/Psychic type.

Sage answered him back casually, “Maybe. Besides I’m your friend, but on the battlefield,” and emphasized, “I’m just your opponent.” For some reason, it didn’t sit well with her that he had beaten her beloved starter pokemon. She wasn’t up for some small talk after all. She groaned hearing him order his munchlax to use screech, which made her close her ears tightly from that painful loud noise from that pokemon. She could see that her starmie had twitched hearing that horrible noise. It sucked that her starmie’s defense was lowered. But hopefully she could have her starmie use a helpful move to counteract that attack later on in the battle. When Tom had ordered his munchlax to use thunderbolt, she panicked since starmie was weak against electric type attacks. She automatically responded out of her panicked state, “Minimize! Dodge! Hydro Pump!” Her starmie glowed white turning to an almost unseeable size as it raised it’s evasiveness dodging the bolt of electricity to the side. Kai then released a powerful blast of water from the gem on the center of its body at it’s opponent zooming in faster and faster. 185 WORDS , TOM

But appeared after that, she went silent. That was a bit disappointed. He liked her voice, it was nice and soothing. Maybe beating her that one time really had gotten to her. "Aw, c'mon Sage, no need to go so quiet. Robbing the world from that nice voice of yours when you don't speak up" he told her. After the Screech and Thunderbolt combination didn't work as well as he had hoped, he knew he had to come up with a new strategy. Well, at least a defensive one now. When the Hydro Pump came, Thomas felt the need to try something he had been wanting to do for awhile; battling in French. "Tumtum, Boul'Armure!" Thomas ordered in French. Tumtum nodded, understanding the French perfectly. Thomas and his Pokemon had been training in both English and French, and it was now that Thomas was using it in a battle. The baby Pokemon jumped in the air and curled up into a ball, hitting the ground and then getting hit by the Hydro Pump. While in the Defence Curl, the Hydro Pump pushed him back, starting up his momentum. "BIEN! TRES BIEN! ROULADE!" Thomas stated excitedly. Using the momentum the Hydro Pump started and gave him, Tumtum curled around and rushed forward. While in the ball of the Rollout attack, he rolled quickly and went right toward the star shaped Pokemon.

Sage scoffed at him for attempting to flirt with her especially during a tournament battle in which she wanted to win. She replied with irritation, “I’m not much for small talk. You already knew that from our last battle,” and emphasized, “I don’t flirt during a battle like you apparently do.” She felt disappointed in him. She was a pokemon trainer and battles for her, were always taken seriously. She didn’t like him in that way. Besides even if she did like him, she wouldn’t flirt with him during the battle. Maybe she would flirt before or after but never during a battle. Now that she had an actual goal, she began taking battles more seriously. She had grinned when her starmie had avoid the thunderbolt attack and had countered with it’s own hydro pump attacks and hit it straight on. But what the hell? Her opponent began ordering his munchlax in what it seemed to be French. Gosh. Now she had to guess what move Thomas would order his pokemon to execute. That was going to be irritating throughout the battle if he continued talking in another language. Well she’ll deal with it at least. Seeing the munchlax curl into a ball as the hydro pump hit him, she had a clear guess what that was well maybe; it looked like the move defense curl. Sage muttered under her breath, “Tsk.” She didn’t want to lose especially to someone who tries to flirt with her during a battle and seemed to not take her seriously. In that cause, she’ll come up with a strategy of her own sooner or later once she gets into the flow of things. Suddenly, she heard her opponent yelling something in French but once again, she wasn’t sure what he was saying. It looked like a rollout. Shoot! She needed to avoid that somehow. She automatically yelled out, “Double Rapid Spin” as her starmie did a much faster version of spinning in another direction looking like a traveling whirlpool avoiding the roll out attack that was aimed for Kai. Then Sage ordered as her starmie was in a good distance, “Bubble Beam Now!” as her starmie’s jewel glowed red and released a barrage of light blue bubbles zooming in faster and faster at the munchlax. 381 WORDS , TOM

Flirting? Him!? Flirting!? Thomas wasn't a flirter. At least, he didn't think he was. He wasn't bold enough to be so blunt. All Thomas could do was blink, unsure how to reply. "Uh, Sage...Calm down. I wasn't flirting, so don't tear my head off, k? Thanks..." he retorted, with a heavy sigh to show he wasn't impressed with her constant down-talking tone she seemed to have with him. "And, y'know...anytime you feel like it, I'd appreciate you stop talking down to me like I'm some child" he added, irritation in his voice. After he missed again, Thomas cursed in French. He began to think some more and noticed the Bubble Beam coming to his starter. Tumtum was still rolling, and luckily, rolled out of the way of the bubbles. Thomas needed to think of something now. He needed to do something. "Tonnerre!" he ordered. Tumtum sprung up from the Rollout and prepared himself. He then waddle-ran forward, releasing the Thunderbolt attack. "Maintenant, Léchouille!" Thomas added. With any luck, Tumtum would get close enough thanks to to the Thunderbolt in order to use the Lick that Thomas ordered after it. [dice=1] 1, Thunderbolt Paralyses if it hits, [dice=10] 1-3, Lick Paralyses if it hits.

Sage glared seeing her starmie’s bubble beam attack miss since the irritating munchlax rolled away from kai’s attack. She bit her lip hearing Thomas ordering his munchlax once again, in French. This was getting really irritating and repetitive. It wasn’t cool that he could understand everything she was saying but she couldn’t understand anything of what he was ordering his munchlax to do. Ah shit, it was another thunderbolt attack. She clenched her fists and as the thunderbolt attack came closer and closer, she knew she needed to save her starmie fast and quick. She immediately ordered, “Light Screen Now!” as kai’s gem began to shine forming a hexagonal blue screen that would half the damage from special attacks. With a sense of urgency, she yelled, “Charge toward the Munchlax now!” The thunderbolt had hit her starmie making it suffer some injury but she needed kai to be the offensive somehow. There had to be a way. Kai seemed to have a hard time moving but fortunately after some seconds, her starmie wiggled away from it’s spot and began spinning toward the munchlax. She breathed a sigh of relief after holding her breath seeing her starmie not being able to move. Then she heard Tom his munchlax, to do uh something but then she realized what he was ordering his pokemon to do after a few seconds seeing the munchlax stick out it’s tongue. Damn French, every second counts in a battle and she just wasted a few of those seconds figuring out whatever move that was. Ugh, wasn’t there someone who could tell him not to speak in french? It just didn’t seem fair. Before the big tongue touched her beautiful starmie, it dodged the attack and relieved she ordered, “Icy Wind now!” Just had dodged the lick attack from a short distance, Kai launched a beam of wind of sparkling blue snow from it’s gem toward its opponent zooming in closer and closer to its target so if it hit, munchlax would be slower. She hoped that her starmie would be lucky enough to be able to move once again. -- WORDS , TOM
