Akira let out a heavy sigh as she quietly approached the lab, each footstep seeming to grow more hesitant. She was quite nervous, which for her, was nothing new...and yet, it wasn't often that she take such a humongous step in her life. Her mind raced with thoughts of training, exploring and battling...it made her extremely nervous and excited at the same time. After all, she was about to receive her first Pokemon.
As she walked up to the door, the butterflies in her stomach seemed to multiply several-fold. She took a step inside and looked around quietly, and saw a few aides who appeared to be busy with whatever it was they were researching. Though it made her slightly curious, this was the last thing on her mind at the moment. Instead, she waited for a bit until someone noticed her. When that didn't work, she eventually decided to call out in a rather timid "E-excuse me! Uh...sorry to interrupt...b-but I'm here for my test..."

Alice let out a yawn before walking into the Lab. Another day, another Lab to do. She didn't mind it, she just would have liked to have slept in some more, it was too early. Not to mention, this Lab happened to interrupt her cuddle time with Elena. The two were going slower than Alice usually would, but it seemed, to Alice, that Elena was worth it. She didn't want to make the woman uncomfortable, so she would respect her and what she wanted.
When she entered the Lab, she blinked at the much taller girl. Wow, quite tall. Even with her heels on, the girl was still taller. Coughing lightly, Alice drew attention to herself. "Bonjour young lady. I am Alice Faye, the Exploration Teacher, and the person to be doing your Lab. It's just a bit further in this room, follow me" she told the girl, leading her further into the room. Revealing a pool, Alice handed the girl a Pokeball containing Seaking in it. She also handed her a piece of paper that listed fives moves (Poison Jab, Peck, Tail Whip, Supersonic, Water Pulse). Taking the opposite side of the pool, Alice sent out a Lumineon. "When you're ready, you may start"

As Alice lead her to the arena and handed her a Poke Ball, Akira was noticeably confused. She wasn't the sharpest knife in the drawer, so it took her a moment to figure out what was going on. However, something in the back of her mind finally clicked, and she was able to catch on fairly quickly once it did. "Oh...so we're going to battle?...okay." She sent out the Pokemon inside the Ball, and looked it over.
"Eh?...that's...a Seaking...right?" She let out a sigh "I was hoping for a Fighting-type..." She quietly looked over the card that was handed to her. She didn't know very much about Water-type Pokemon...except that Water Pulse wouldn't deal much damage since it was the same type. She did see one move that looked familiar, though, having seen a lot of challengers try to use it on her father's Pokemon at his Dojo, so she decided to go with that...and issue the order in as meek and timid a voice as possible "...um...could you use...Supersonic, please?" The Seaking, though noticeably perplexed by the weak order, followed through nonetheless. Letting out a high-pitched screech, it sent thought-scrambling soundwaves flying toward the Lumineon, in hopes of confusing it.

"Oui. This battle will help determine where you belong in terms of dorms" Alice explained when the girl finally spoke up. When she heard her speak again, Alice let out a small sigh. So she was dealing with a specialist it seemed. "Well, don't worry, you don't get to keep this Seaking after the battle. But please, don't use that as an excuse to run the poor Pokemon to death" the teacher added.
"C'mon, don't be so shy. Actually mean it when you want them to do something" Alice commented. The Lumineon didn't wait for Alice to tell it to swim away from the Supersonic. "Good move, now use Gust" Alice ordered. The Pokemon's cheeks swelled, then it exhaled a burst of air under the water, causing the water to ripple.

Akira nodded quietly as Alice spoke to her regarding being more confident "S-sorry...I just...I'm really nervous..." Nonetheless, she made an effort to snap herself out of it and focus on the battle. She watched as the Seaking was hit by the Gust, and she quickly referred to the card she was given. Poison Jab...that move sounded promising. "A-alright...Seaking...use Poison Jab!" Her voice was still a little nervous and shaky, but it was an improvement. Either way, the Seaking charged at the Lumineon, its horn glowing with a bright violet aura.

"No need to be nervous. I don't bite....much...though Elena may argue that" Alice teased giving the girl a playful little wink. Despite the teasing, she was serious. The girl needed to be a bit braver. More bold. Especially if she wanted to be a Fighting master. They weren't the type to listen to people who were weak. Or, at least, had troubles showing they were the one giving the orders.
After Lumineon was hit and Poisoned, Alice thought briefly. She needed to do something. "Lumineon, use Silver Wind!" Alice called out. Coming off of Lumineons now glowing fins, a silver crescent shape came rushing off of it, toward the Seaking.

The Seaking was able to avoid the Silver Wind, causing a sigh of relief from Akira. Referring once more to the card, she nodded...and proceeded to make her first mistake. "Alright, Seaking...use Tail Whip!" The Seaking nodded, and proceeded to...turn around and wag its tail fin at the opponent. Granted, that was what Tail Whip was supposed to do, but the name lead Akira to think it was an actual attack...it didn't help that there were no Fighting-types who actually learned the move "...w-wait...that's it?"

Alice couldn't help but let out a small giggle when the girl didn't get the move she was expecting. As amusing as it was, it showed Alice enough to know where the girl should be put in terms of Dorms. That meant she could halt the battle and let the girl start her time at the Academy. She pulled out the Lumineon's Pokeball and returned it. "Alright, that's good" Alice began. Walking around the pool, Alice handed the girl a Black Sash and held out three Pokeballs. - Wynaut Wynaut pick me? - Pinsir Imma Pinsir bum - Lickitung ....I don't need to say anything

Looking over the choices, Akira was noticeable disappointed, once again, by the lack of a Fighting-type. It wasn't that she disliked other types of Pokemon...it's just that Fighting was what she was most familiar with. And by "familiar with" we mean "knows anything about them whatsoever". This was made obvious with her rather blatant mistake regarding one of the most common support attacks known to man. But because no Fighting-types learn that move, she was completely clueless about it.
It wouldn't have been a stretch to assume that, had she taken this test with a Fighting-type, it would have gone very differently. Of course, this was probably good for her, whether she realized it or not. Either way, after some consideration, she nodded "...well...I remember someone telling me that Pinsir learns a lot of Fighting moves...so...I guess I'll choose it..." At the time, she had no idea just how right she was. In all honesty, she was only picking it because it was the least undesirable of the three. Then she looked at the sash "...this...means I'm in the black dorm?...alright. Thank you very much, ma'am..." And with that, she was off. Presumably to the library so should could figure out what her Pinsir was capable of.
