Tere had made it to the academy just fine, except that now she had to take some kind of test to get her starting Pokemon. Sighing, she walked toward the lab with her hands in her pockets. This was going to suck, she knew it. Making it to the automatic doors, she peered up at them. This was not very appealing, but... Shaking her head, she removed her hands from her pockets.
'This place got me away from that woman. I'd better be grateful and at least give them the impression I'm glad to be here,' she thought and walked through the doors as they opened. Looking around, she made a face. It was so... white. Like snow, she imagined and her face split in a faint smile. Yeah, snow.
Looking around the room, she wondered just how difficult this battle would be. Her mother had never really trained the Pokemon she bred, so she had little idea of how to get through this. At least she knew something decent about Pokemon. Hopefully this wouldn't be all too difficult and she could go take a nap before class...

"Alright, new Examinee? Obvious. Go get a pokeball from the tray over there and follow me."
Tao was currently flipping over a...romance novel as he entered the Lab, unfortunate enough to find someone waiting for a test. Might as well get this over with...properly. He did get Booty called last time.

Tere's response would've been something to the effect of 'yes, sir' but he continued talking even before she was able to respond. Blinking, she turned to look for the tray which he spoke of. Walking over, she looked over the Pokeballs. Reaching out, she picked up one from the left side of the tray and turned back toward Tao.
"Got one," she offered so he didn't need to look up from the book. Peering at the ball in her hand curiously, she resisted the urge to press the button as she followed after him.

"Good for you Student. What you just got was a Nidoqueen."
Tao greeted happily before turning his face into a scowl and snapping the book shut. Dropping the pokeball that he had, well, what came out was a Nidoking.
"This is mine. Now, the two of you follow me. We're not using the usual arena for testing."
Walking down the hallway, Tao and his Nidoking exited the lab before heading out to the rockiest place Tao could think of that was the nearest to their location.
"Alright. I'm sure you know that fighting isn't always just about strength. So we're fighting here, where we get to use our brains. Hope you know what you're doing."
---
You attack first. No moves outside of level-up ones, which means no TM/Egg moves and good luck.

As she was told what was in the Pokeball, she nodded. However, she waited until they were at their arena of sorts. As she looked around, hearing his words, she grinned. "Yes, sir." Releasing the Pokemon from its ball, she looked over the two Pokemon. Taking a deep breath, she shut her eyes for a moment. She knew the type match up wasn't that great for either party, but there was a bit of danger.
"Alright, Queenie... Use Tail Whip." The Nidoqueen immediately turned to cutely waggle her tail at the purple opponent. "Now try to get a height advantage by climbing on top of that outcropping," she instructed. Tere was lazy... not stupid.

"Nidoking, Focus Energy then follow up with Earth Power! If she falls down, rush her."
Tao ordered his pokemon, lazily looking at the fight happening. The tail whip proved to be ineffective as Nidoking closed its eyes momentarily and focused on the battle at hand, a faint yellow glow erupting within him. Just as soon, with a tremendously strong stomp, an immediate eruption started to explode just beneath the outcrop that the Nidoqueen was on.
"Hn. Minus 15 points."

Tere was a bit annoyed by the negative she seemed to start off with, but she said nothing. She expected a Ground-type attack and she knew it would be bad if that hit. "Knock it back with Superpower!" Most of the damage was avoided simply by the force of the attack. But she could tell it wasn't entirely a success when the Nidoqueen landed back at the same level as the rest of them.
The girl chewed her lip slightly and shook her head. "Body Slam," she ordered, hearing the order for the Nidoking to charge in the current case.

"Nidoking, Counter it with Body Slam and throw her in the air with Megahorn!"
Tao ordered his Nidoking to take the brunt of the damage with Body Slam, his opponent now damaged slightly from the stronger move known as Earth Power. Also, the Super Power seems to have weakened his opponets Pokemon.
"Minus 5 points."

Tere supposed she should be grateful for the smaller amount of points being taken from her this time. At least now she knew she hated this species now... With a badly-hurt Pokemon in the air, there was little she could do now. Frustrated, the girl closed her eyes and tried to imagine all the moves this Pokemon might know. Of course! She'd only been thinking of the Nidoqueen itself.
"Distract him with Toxic Spikes on his head." She knew the attack wouldn't be worth anything beyond that but it was something. "Then..." Concentrating, she groaned. She'd have a headache after this but if only she could get some of those points back... maybe she wouldn't be a total failure.
"Flatter! Then land with an Earth Power." Hopefully the confusion would override the enhanced stats long enough for her attack to hit.

"Nidoking, run below her and brace yourself!"
Tao ordered his Nidoking who obediently followed. The toxic spikes, barely scraping along his hide as it ran over towards the landing area. It's eyes were closed, just to make sure that the toxic spikes wouldn't hit them and thus the Attract was made useless.
As the Nidoqueen landed, Nidoking was practically next to it, engulfing both of them within the power of Earth Power. Damaging both severely.
Tao smiled, he knew that they both had little power left, and in no possible way can the Nidoqueen dodge this attack.
"HORN DRILL!"

As the Nidoqueen fell to the ground, the girl cursed under her breath. Sure, she hadn't exactly expected to win but that was a complete disaster. Grumbling, she lifted the Pokeball again to return the poor dinosaur-like thing. "I should thank you... I now realize I don't particularly enjoy Poison-types. Particularly these two Ground-types," she grumbled looking at the Pokeball in her hand.
"I don't suppose effort counts for anything? Nah, I didn't think so. You guys should consider teaching these beasts something ridiculous... Like breeding one with Iron Tail." It wasn't a super effective advantage, but it would've been something. Nidoqueen had such a disadvantage without a horn and less body mass.

"Plus 5 points for Smart-Assity. Yellow Dorm for you."
Tao was feeling generous and picked out three random pokeballs from his pocket.
"Here are your choices, A Sandile, Lickitung or a Koffing."

Tere blinked but didn't argue. Awesome, she wasn't at the bottom at least. As she was given her choices, she made a bit of a face. Difficult choice... She knew she didn't want the Koffing from the earlier battle; she was going to try and avoid that type. Sandile was dual-typed with a lot of weakness but equally as many resistances. The Lickitung, as most Normal-types, was resilient and had a good range of moves it could learn.
Not wanting to make Tao wait, she sighed. "I'll take the Lickitung," she decided, reaching out for the Pokeball. Then she peered up at the man curiously and gave a faint smile. "Thanks."
