History:
Mother: Adrianne Lansing, Pokémon technologist and scientist. In coma.
Father: Julius Lansing, Pokémon researcher, scientist and Professor of Pokémon History.
Brother: Wilbur Lansing, Seventh Grade.
Rose had a pretty normal life for the first few years. She initially lived in Goldenrod city where her mother worked for Ashford Enterprises, producing Pokémon Technology. Her mother headed the Research and Development Department, while her father worked separately, researching Pokémon and their DNA. Rose was much friendlier as a child and had a few good friends. She grew up in Goldenrod city with her little brother. When Rose was very young her parents had enrolled her in many classes, so she is practically an all rounder. At the age of twelve, she went out to explore the Johto region on her own, for some practical experience. Even as a young girl, Rose had made up her mind to become one of the great Pokémon trainers of the world. However, everything changed after a few months. Rose was called back before her adventures were just beginning. The reason? Rose’s mother had been seriously injured while working in a lab. Due to some miscalculations on the part of one of the workers, there was a huge explosion. Rose’s mother had been rushed into the hospital due to serious brain damage. She entered into coma and stayed like that for a year and a half.
The blame for the explosion was put on Rose’s mother by some families who also suffered because of it. Even though the company said that it was because of a system malfunction, Rose was treated badly by the other kids whose parents had suffered as well, a few of them being her own friends. This experience hardened Rose and made her more unsocial. Rose also discovered that she could mull over her problems in small confined spaces, because it made her feel safe. She never shared her problems with anyone else, let alone cry in front of anyone, preferring to retreat to the broom closet in their house whenever she felt like doing any of that.
The explosion came as a major shock to Rose and her family. They never expected anything so drastic to happen. Rose became a bit more vulnerable and in order to hide it, created a barrier, blocking out most emotions. She put up a strong front, protecting her brother and did her best to take care of him. Her father worked hard day after day, paying for the hospital bills and putting up a strong outward appearance as well. Rose did her best to support her father, who tried to appear happy for his children.
After her mother recovered, they realized that the accident had also affected most of her memory. She needed to be hospitalized for a few more years. Rose’s father decided that it was time to move to another city. The whole family shifted to Snowpoint city in the Sinnoh region, where Rose’s father took up the job of a History professor and her mother remained in the Snowpoint city hospital. Rose failed to make any friends there. She spent her three years in Snowpoint city, taking care of the house, her brother and going to school. Finally, her mother was discharged from the hospital; however she was very weak. Her father decided that now it was time for Rose to get a proper education, and sent her to the Pokemon Academy.
