"So, you really think this bogus Academy will give you a spine?"
"I don't know dad, will me leaving get my room turned into a bowling alley?"
"You know it" Mr Silverman laughed heartily, slapping Tyler hard on the back so he stumbled forward. Ty just frowned.
"You could at least pretend to care, you know" Tyler said, adjusting his bag after it was skewed out of place.
"That won't make you do anything for yourself if I hold your hand the whole way, boyo"
"You make me do EVERYTHING by myself unless it'll..... nevermind! But I'm not going there just to become like you... I'm going to become my own person" the teen said firmly, causing his father to frown.
"Oh, are you now? We'll just see how the pansy path you stands up in a real battle when you get back, now won't we?" Mr Silverman sneered. Tyler looked down, then glanced up.
"I will battle you, dad.... and I'll win.... because I'm driven to see how how good it'll feel to wipe that smug grin off your face"
Mr Silverman chuckled. "Well then, get strong and we'll see, shortstuff. And Tyler.... don't do anything stupid, I don't want to find out you got killed first day for incompetence" he chuckled, giving his offspring a shove towards the train.
Ty didn't even bother to wave, just gave a curt nod and silently left, leaving his father and his old life behind. He was tempted to say that old parently "Love ya" to him, just in case he did royally screw up, but chose not.... it'd be thrown back in his face surely. But within Ty was a grim determination, to actually impress his father by beating him down in their battle when he returned... because beating him and becoming his own person, free from his domineering would feel wonderful, he just knew it.
Tyler's head was a whirl of thoughts as he disembarked the train to Pokemon Academy, sighing to himself. First steps of his new life, at least, for the duration of his say.... but he was determined not to emerge the same young lad who had gone in to this place, he was going to come out smarter, stronger, and all around better, he was sure of it!
After several minutes of getting his bearings and navigating the area, Tyler pushed open the door to the labratory area, where he would supposedly be tested and recieve a dorm assignment and his first Pokemon... he found it odd he would recieve, not select, but perhaps that would be part of his education of how to adapt to what life threw at you, as it were?
"Uh, hello? I'm here to take an exam?" he asked a bit quietly into the seemingly-empty room, not sure if anyone else was even present.. hopefully this wasn't a free day where no testing took place, nor that he was totally in the wrong place to begin with, that'd be rather humilating and sent a rather bad first impression...
