Dex approached a large set of double doors. Not only did the sign read “Laboratory” but even the style of the door created a technical setting. Pulling his gloves up to a tighter length, Dex was about to press against the doors, but before he had the chance the doors glided apart. Dex grinned, tightened his pony tail and brushed down his jacket quickly before entering. The room was paved with shimmering white tiles, while a simple set of chairs were aligned perfectly along the left wall. Opposite the chairs, on the right side of the room, was a large locked wooden cabinet.
Dex glanced around. He didn’t exactly know where to go from here. He was aware that he was supposed to be here in order to get his first Pokémon thing. However, the double doors at the end of the hallway appeared to be locked. It seemed he only had 2 options. Leave, or sit here and wait. Dex certainly wasn’t going home. So with a shrug he took a seat along the wall.

A man dressed in black walked in from the doors on the other side of the room. His red eyes looked past his dark shades to the new student. The man seemed to be evaluating him to see if the boy was even good enough to attend this prestigious school. He glided over to the large wooden cabinet and pulled out a key. After unlocking it, he reached in and grabbed a tray of Pokeballs. Not paying much mind to the student, he closed the cabinet and turned to walk to the doors he had entered from.
"Follow," he commanded the boy. On the other side of the doors there was a large field. The ground was covered in sand and there weren't any trees nearby. "Choose one Pokeball please," he told the boy as he held out the tray.

Dex didn’t have to wait long, which is good because he gets rather impatient. Dex examined the tall male. Judging by the way he dresses, and the serious appeal he had, Dex just assumed he was one of the people in charge. The male walked over to the cabinet and pulled out a key before unlocking it. He grabbed a tray of Pokéballs and locked the cabinet once again. He took a sharp turn to the doors before commanding Dex to follow. Dex casually arose from the chair before dusting himself off again.
He followed the strange man passed the, now unlocked, double doors. Revealed to Dex was a vast field, covered in sand with a distinct lack of trees. Dex wasn’t sure what was happening, but when he was asked to choose a Pokéball, in silence he seemed to instantly reach for the center pokéball.

The man walked away after Dex picked his Pokeball. He casually strolled to the other side of the field and looked back to the new student. "Release your Pokemon," he ordered. When Dex released his Pokemon he would see that it was a Sneasel. The tester would then set the tray of pokeballs down beside him. As he leaned up, he would grab one of them randomly and toss it out onto the field. A Quilava would now take the field.
"You get the first move."

Dex stood still and watched the man as he strolled to the other end of the field. He looked over at Dex and told him to release his Pokémon. Dex stared at the Pokéball for a minute. He didn’t know much about Pokémon, but luckily before arriving, Dex had the common sense to study attacks and battling. He casually tossed the ball out onto the field. The dual coloured orb hit against the floor and rebounded into the air. Upon reaching a high enough altitude the ball burst open with a large chunk sound and a bright flash of white light. The light faded to reveal a small black Pokémon. Sneasel, the ice type Pokémon.
Dex grinned. He was glad he got a Pokémon, that not only had high amounts of speed, but he also knew the name of. The tester then picked up a pokéball and sent it out onto the field. A small greenish Pokémon with flames appeared. Dex had no idea what the Pokémon was, but judging by the look of it, it was clearly a fire type. Dex looked concentrated, and was sure this was some battle test. Dex nodded when provided the first move.
“Sneasel, use agility!”
The sneasel seemed to multiply, when really it was just moving at a quick pace from side to side, ready to attack or defend upon command.

The man calmly watched the boy. His eyes weren't on the Pokemon, but on the student. The man shook his head. "Tsk..." he muttered. "Quilava please execute Smoke Screen," he called out. The flame Pokemon nodded as dark mist flew from the area where his flames erupted from. Soon the entire field was covered in a dark cloud, making Sneasel's agility rather useless since it couldn't see.

Dex remained calm as the dark mist completely engulfed the field making it next to impossible to see. Suddenly Dex was struck with inspiration. He knew how he could eliminate the smoke screen.
“Sneasel, Eliminate the smoke with Icy wind!”
The Icy wind might not do much damage to quilava, but will lower his speed and clear the smoke! Now with the smoke gone and quilava slower Agility has a use again. Sneasel nodded before puffing its cheeks and releasing a huge puff. A chill icy wind flew out from Sneasel’s cheeks, and spread across the field.

Out of the icy wind that Sneasel blew, Quilava appeared, running full speed at the other Pokemon. "Flame wheel," ordered the tester. Suddenly, the Quilava shifted from it's usual body to a wheel made of complete flames. The Pokemon had used the smoke to get closer to Sneasel, close enough that when the smoke was blown away he could attack.

Quilava emerged from the cloud of ice. Dex knew it wouldn’t be very effective, but he never expected it to be so useless. At least it eliminated the smoke screen. The quilava was fast even with a lowered speed. Taking this flame wheel head on would obliterate Sneasel. He had to avoid it and strike back. Fighting a fire pokemon head on is pretty much a lost match, but with such little time to think Dex could only hope to keep Sneasel alive for the time being.
“Quickly, leap over the wheel!”
Sneasel reacted expertly with a swift leap over the wheel. The wheel scraped Sneasels feet, but Sneasel withheld the pain. Sneasel landed behind the quilava.
“Hit it with a faint attack!”
Sneasel seemed to disappear before quickly reappearing behind the quilava and letting out a harsh punch. Quickly after attacking Sneasel leaped backwards to remain distance.
“This match is getting tough….”

The pokemon took the hit then turned toward the Sneasel as it was jumping. "Use flame thrower," commanded the Tester. The Quilava released a torrent of flames toward the Sneasel as it leaped through the air. The tester was being far to hard on the new student, but eh.

As Sneasel flew through the air the quilava released huge breaths of flames which flew in his direction. This examiner was so tough, and chances of victory looked slim. Dex’s eyes widened, a hit from the flamethrower and it would be all over. Even if it wouldn’t work, Dex couldn’t just let Sneasel take incredible damage from a head on flamethrower.
“Sneasel, use quick attack downwards to the floor!”
Sneasel seemed to instantly zoom downwards slamming into the floor in a ducking position as the flame blew overhead.

Too bad there was nothing for the Pokemon to jump off of.
The fire hit the ice pokemon and KO'd it.
The tester returned his Quilava and walked to the center of the field. "Return the Pokemon please," he said calmly. The man held his hand out for the student's Pokeball. "You will be assigned to the Black Ranked Dorms." [/blockquote]

Dex let out a long deep snarl. Sneasel was completely knocked out. Not only that but Dex was going to be placed in the black ranked dorms? Honestly he wasn’t that bad, he bet that if they had each others pokemon Dex would of one. The type matchup was totally unfair. Dex returned the Sneasel to its pokéball and handed it back to the examiner.
“Thanks?”
Dex muttered as he left the room.
