So, everyone here knows that Pokemon can be afflicted with one of several different status ailments, right? These ailments (Burn, Freeze, Paralysis, Poison, Sleep, Attract, Confusion and Curse) are usually the side effects of various attacks Pokemon can perform. Sometimes they're the main focus of said attack. Some attacks may also cause your opponents to flinch. But we already knew that.
So what does this gave to do with dice? Well, one of our members (Lily Reynolds) provided up with a kick-ass code that gives us access to the 'dice code'. To use this code, you simply type in [dice=10*] (without the asterisk, obviously) at the bottom of any post where your Pokemon has used an attack that can inflict a status ailment.
Now, there are two different types of moves that inflict status ailments. There are moves that are strictly used to inflict an ailment (i.e. Thunder Wave, Sleep Powder, Attract) and moves that can inflict a status ailment as a side effect (i.e. Gunk Shot, Flamethrower, Thunderbolt). Attacks like Thunder Wave and Sleep Powder will not use this dice function. If it hits, it inflicts unless an immunity or ability comes into play. This dice function will only be used to calculate the second kind of attack.
To calculate whether an attack like Flamethrower or Gunk Shot will inflict their respective status ailments, all you have to do is type in the dice code at the bottom of your post, as stated above. Each of the ten 'sides' of the dice represents 10%, collectively. So if your attack has a 10% chance of inflicting a status ailment, your attack will only inflict that status ailment if your dice rolls a 1. If it has a 20% chance, rolling a 1 or 2 will inflict the ailment. If it has a 30% chance, rolling a 1-3 will inflict the ailment. And so on and so on.
Here's a brief example.
Prisoner B uses Gunk Shot.
Gunk Shot has a 30% chance of inflicting poison when it hits. So we roll the dice.
If the die rolled lands on a 1, 2 or 3, the opposing Pokemon will be poisoned if they are struck by the attack. If its lands on a 4-10, they will not be poisoned, even if they are struck by the Gunk Shot.
And that's all there is to it. If you use more than one attack like this in a single post, you must roll the dice for each attack to determine if it will inflict or not. Also, if an attack has two or more different effects to it (i.e. Fire Fang, Tri-Attack, ect.), please roll for each of the effects and label them appropriately.
For example, Prisoner B uses Fire Fang, which has a 10% chance to flinch the target and a 10% chance to burn. You would roll twice and label both rolls with their effects.
Burn Roll - [dice=10] Flinch Roll - [dice=10]
Note that this rule is subject to change in the future.
