"Now where is that room..." Amy muttered to herself as she wandered the halls. She had been told to go to the laboratory, but she had failed to tell them that she didn't know how that word was written. "Hmm... this one starts with 'La...' maybe it?" she said, opening the doors a crack and peeking inside, noticing a row of chairs on one side, and a large cabinet on the other.
"Huh, no one's here. Oh well, I'll rest for a bit anyway," she said cheerfully, heading inside, closing the door, and plopping down on a chair. "Wonder what's in there... And there, too..." she muttered, looking back and forth between the cabinet and the other doors.

"It isn't difficult to call for an instructor." A smooth voice called out from behind a corner. If Amy were to turn, she'd see a tall, white-haired boy wearing clothing that matched his vivid locks. The instructor licked his lips and smiled rather devilishly. This girl was cute... It was a shame she was still just a minor. Or, that's what she looked like to him anyway... "Please, follow me." The instructor ordered. He led the girl into a broad, white room. Gravel paved the ground beneath them, and tray after tray of pokeballs lined a single, slim wall in the room. The white-haired man strolled up to the wall; hoisted a tray of pokeballs into his right hand and casually walked back before holding the tray out towards her casually. "Please, pick one and release it. We may start our battle. This battle is considered our "exam", and it determines your ranking here at The Pokemon Academy, so I suggest you take it quite seriously. You may have the first move." Yang told her; picking out his own Pokemon and releasing it out onto another side of the field. If both trainers were to release their rental Pokemon, they would have temporary ownership of the two Pokemon below. VS Yang : Spoink Amy : Luxio

"...Creepy," Amy said aloud, wincing at the man's strange actions. Nevertheless, she followed him into the next room to find a rocky floor, with a wall of pokeballs. "Oooh, this should be fun!" she said, grabbing one of the offered pokeballs and almost completely ignoring the man's speech.
"So this is a battle, right? Let's see what I got!" she called out, tossing the pokeball in an underhanded motion. A Luxio emerged. "An electric... and you have... Aww, you got a psychic!" she said, slightly disappointed when she saw her opponent got one instead of her. "Oh well, Luxio can do this! Luxio, show it your Scary Face, and then follow up with your Bite!" she commanded, hoping to end this quickly.

"Spoink, use Confuse Ray and then Power Gem!" The instructor called out; starting the battle immediately. The light gray Pokemon didn't dare move as Luxio let it's fangs protrude from it's mouth. It stared onwards; shuddering at the sight of the lion Pokemon. "Spoink, snap out of it." Yang growled. The orb on the psychic type's head started to glow a purple aura. Without further hesitation, the beam shot forwards and enveloped Luxio. When it faded, the Pokemon was stumbling towards Spoink rather awkwardly with it's fangs showing. "Move out of it's way." Yang hissed. The Luxio dashed towards Spoink, but it didn't take much to avoid it. The cat-like Pokemon stumbled into the edge of the arena and sunk it's fangs into the gravel. While Luxio was anxiously pushing itself upright, a large gem rose out from the gravel and hurled itself at it; dealing an extreme amount of damage for such a small Pokemon. "Don't assume this will be easy." Yang murmured.

Amy looked a bit disgruntled at the sudden turnaround, but snapped her fingers when she remembered something. "Luxio, focus! Get up and use Charge!" she called out, and once the Luxio managed to get back on its feet, it shook its head, straightening its stance. It then lowered into a crouch, electricity surging through its fur.
"Now let loose a Discharge!" she cried, as the electricity exploded out across the entire field. Although the sparks were gone from Luxio's fur, it seemed to have hardened a bit. "If you're fighting from a distance, then we'll build up a defense for it!" she said, smirking.

"Spoink, use bounce." Yang spoke calmly. Luxio's fur stood straight up on it's back as electricity sparked from it's tail. Before it could release it's build up of electricity, the small pig Pokemon leaped into the air as the canine let out a stream of electricity.
"Spo-oink!" The light gray Pokemon cried, it's tiny arms flailing as it hurled itself against the Luxio. The electric-type let out a harsh cry and struggled to push itself upwards. Thankfully, it still had a bit' of energy left to fight... Spoink wasn't exactly as weak as one would have thought.

Despite the damage Luxio was taking, Amy didn't seem too concerned. In fact, she was smiling. "Luxio, put it all into this next attack! Crunch!" she cried out, as Luxio leaped the short distance towards its opponent, fangs bared.
