Alright, this has been talked over quite frequently over the past.
So, this thread was made for the sole purpose of establishing an actual Item System.
Ideas, Comments, Reactions, please post them here so we'd know how to address the problem better.

QQ I have an idea Like Thomas did for tech class to roll TMs, We could use a random number generator to roll possible items for a thread. Of course we'd have to create a list of items & number them. Random # generator: HereEdit: I like Speedy's idea. Instead of currency for a shop. We use student points to pay for things at the school's shop.

Okay That makes sense. It would fix any confusion on what to put as rewards on missions. But I don't exactly see how it can be distributed to the students. But I like the idea.
Now I'll still be going with my idea. And instead of currency we can go with Student points. Creating a School Store where points can be exchanged for items. Points can be awarded from Trainer battles and missions. For trainer battles you can potentially get 2 points for winning. If you lose you get 1. And according to how potentially difficult the mission is, is how many Student Points you get.

I know of a code that can be added to mini profiles to add a currency to them. That way, we can have the "student points", but we can keep it from getting misused. Not to say I don't trust anyone here, but you never know if someone might forget to change how many points they have. And as for shops, I have some made out from my own site that I don't mind sharing.

i think that shold have correncey and make like a allowance tyoe deal like every week or so the traniers get 1oo p or 500p or what ever much but i like the idea of betting points or money and that would make the stakes of winning that much sweeter

I don't know about the allowance thing... It should be more based on activity I think, hence why I support Speedy's idea of getting points based on battles and missions. If you just have allowance that is doled out every week then people could just sit there and collect tons of points without even doing anything.
I do, however, think the idea of betting points wouldn't be a bad idea. For the over-confident, risk-taking characters out there. But it should be optional, not mandatory. For example: "Hey, I bet 2 (insert name of currency here) that I could beat you in a battle!" "Oh yeah? Well I don't bet." "What? Scared to lose?" "Of course not! Battle me now and I'll show you that I can win. But I'm still not betting points..." Of course, the person who won the battle would still get 2 points or something, and the person who lost would still get 1 point. (Or whatever amount of points that we decide on)
Then there's the question of how to keep track of what items everybody has, and how many points they have. Maybe there could be a section somewhere where people make a list of how many points they have (and a link to the thread where they earned said point/s), and then when they spend the points they can group them all together and put a note that says they were spent on (whatever item it was that they bought...) Like.... SPENT ON SOOTHE BELL 2 points - [*url]Name of thread 1 point - [*url]Name of thread
SPENT ON BLA-BLA-BLA 1 point - (link) 3 points - (link) 2 points - (link)
UNSPENT 1 point - (link) 1 point - (link)
Edit: Or we could leave keeping track of the links and points to the person, and they only provide the links as proof when they want to buy something. Example:
want to buy Soothe Bell (3 points) links: [*url]Name of Thread [*url]Name of Thread

As for keeping track of points, that's part of why I suggested (posting as Elena) the money code. We could use that to keep track of the points a character earns and spends, since the amounts can be changed manually. As for keeping track of their items, people can probably do that on their PC pages or something.

I'm down for Student Points but I definitely think there needs to be a starting amount you receive from entering and more unique ways of acquiring money because if we go the battles and missions only route, if you need an expensive item, say an Electrizer (or however you spell it) to evolve your Electabuzz into Electivire, I feel it encourages a grind. Maybe we can make it so you can sell objects back for a lesser price than what it would be sold for and incorporate random items as well.
It doesn't seem to strange to see like a random item as in real life, people drop their stuff all the time. Gambling seems like a good idea as well. Wagering on pokemon battles against each seems like a fair way to lose/win extra points.

We have The Currency and Item List. What we don't have is a concrete way to get Student Points, the Prices and the Shop Itself. Will we be receiving/spending points in the 1's? 10's? 100's?
I think we should stick with the idea of optional betting before a battle. (Details explained above) We could also have student points assigned to taking part in battles/missions like the evolution points?

Regarding Speedy's Idea:
I don't particularly think that the idea of Battles and Missions as a means to gain Student Points works well. I like the idea of Student Points, just not how you're going about it. Sometimes people decide who will win battles before they even play them out, and missions can only accept so many people.
I think a much better way to be given one point per post. This rewards activity! The prices of shop items would have to be a little higher because students would be earning a lot more points at a way faster rate, but that's okay.
Also, this method of garnering points would reward all of the battle and wild encounter mods for their hardwork. The more jobs they take on, the more School Points they receive for their duty (trusting that all mods will continue to take only as much as they can handle; quality > quantity).

considering some of the prices I've set, and assuming Laz doesn't change any of them, it would need to be a bit more than just one Point per post...but for the most part, I agree with Eros' idea. Rewards for missions are all well and good, but, as Eros said, those are a bit restrictive. That and what she said about people occasionally pre-determining the outcome of battles. Setting a certain amount per post will encourage activity, which is always good for an RP.

As encouraging as it is to have a set amount of points per post as to make people be more active, I'm just wondering what is to stop them from making not so needed posts? OOC posts do still add to your post count and it would be a lot of work for every staff member to keep track of everyones IC posts.
I've played under a site where stuff was dictated by your Post Count, needless to say, that wasn't really effective.

I was on a site, and they had a code that let them say which boards gave points for posts. I'm not sure what code it was, but I know it exists. lol

You can set what boards give posts, so you could make just the island and stuff to give posts

a lot easier way around it is to set the OOC boards to where they don't add to the post count. That way, people can post all the random non-RP related stuff they want, and we don't have to worry about someone abusing said OOC posting for free money

Exactly. Admins can set which boards allow points-for-posts.

We do have to remember that my Admin Power is still heavily limited, so in the event that I can't do this method, we need a substitute for it.
