Kenso sat out at the beach, his Pokemon out with him. Bushou and Kukky were out playing in the water, but Sandile stayed behind and was laying next to Kenso. Kenso was softly petting the Pokemon's head.
Sandile enjoyed being petted. He closed his eyes and felt the soft fingers of the boy rub against his skin.
"You know, Chomps? You're gonna have a lot of fun with us. I just know it," Kenso said.
Chomps was getting really sleepy. He burrowed under the warm sand, but managed to keep his head above the sand so Kenso could keep petting him.
"You're gonna love it here," Kenso whispered as the Sandile drifted off into sleep.

She had been surfing for at least two whole hours, longer than she usually went out surfing. She couldn’t wait to move out of the Yellow Dorms away from the spoiled brat and move to the Silver Dorms, which was closer to the beach. Finally, she could go out surfing every single morning if she wanted to. She didn’t have to go all the way from the forest to the beach just to relax and go surfing. Finally, she made it to the small three where her Bayleef, Zeal was watching her intently from underneath the shade of the tree. He looked very restless. She was looking for her Starmie’s poke ball and finally found it under a bunch of other small items and seeing Kai get up to the shore, she returned Kai. Kai had been swimming longer than her as training her pokemon’s stamina at the beach.
Sage drank some of the water from the water bottle and gulped it all down since she was dehydrated from the sun. She looked at Zeal and said, “Let’s go walk around the beach. Maybe we’ll find something interesting?” as then Zeal nodded in agreement and smiled back back at him. She didn’t want her starter pokemon to be bored at the beach. Sage put a loose white shirt over her black and white striped shirt and grabbed her backpack as they began walking along the beach. She then caught sight of another trainer. Was that Ken? She began walking up to him and said as she smiled, “Hey Ken, it’s been a while hasn’t it? I didn’t know you were in the pokemon academy too…” She paused and continued, “Do you mind battling with your old friend?”

Kenso glanced up at the girl. He immediately broke into a smile. "Heyya, Sage!" he said. A battle, eh? "A battle, eh? That sounds exciting. Sure, why not. It gives us a chance to reconnect," he said.
He whistled and his Pokemon ran out of the water and back to him. He took the beach towel off the sand and dried off Slakoth. The sloth Pokemon shook the rest of the water out. Kukky clicked his claws, happy to return to his home. Chomps burst out from under the sand. All this noise had woken him up. He opened his mouth and yawned.
"It's been forever, Sage," he said with one more smile.

She smiled at her childhood friend and replied, “Yup. Reconnect huh? That sounds so formal Ken. You mean to catch up right?” She felt nostalgic watching him interacting with his pokemon. It seemed like he was still the caring guy he used to be when she last hung out with him. She asked curiously, “Those are your Slakoth, Krabby, and Sandile right?” She paused and grinned, “Might as well get to meet the rest of my party pokemon. The rest of them are in the PC at the moment.” She threw out five of her poke balls and out came out her party pokemon. The first one to show his face was her Rufflet, Luca who automatically chirped and flew over to perch on her shoulder. The next one was her Starmie, Kai who bent one of the points of the star as if waving hello and rushed down to swim in the deep blue ocean. Her female Absol, Celestine popped out and nuzzled Sage’s legs as Sage then petted her right after. Celeste was so adorable for a disaster pokemon. Sage didn’t like the stereotype that people thought Absols brought disaster. Sage wanted to train up Kirlia so she put her Magmar back into the PC. Her Kirlia, Scarlett spun around in a dance and sat on Sage’s shoulder then glancing at the other trainer’s pokemon as if sizing them up. Sage chided, “Be nice Scarlett.” Last but definitely not least was her unofficial strongest pokemon at the moment who helped her get into Silver Rank a few days earlier. Persephone was a special case indeed and unique in personality and in looks. She was a black-coated Ninetales with blood red eyes, blood tipped tails, and a dark red diamond on her forehead. She was only pokemon Sage could telepathically communicate with well, until Scarlett evolves. She heard Persephone growl probably in irritation and heard her, “What are we doing here Mistress?” It was definitely sarcasm in her voice. She must have been taking her beauty rest. Sage replied as a matter of fact, “Meeting up with my old friend. Play nice Per.” Persephone huffed, “Fine. He’s not an Alpha though.” Sage wanted to ask what exactly was a Alpha to Persephone but she’d rather ask later. Sage couldn’t help but notice Persephone glaring nails and daggers at her friend and his pokemon. Right. Only respects Alphas right? Then what makes an Alpha?
Sage gave a hesitant smile, “Well, these are my pokemon,” as she pointed at each one of them, “Zeal, Luca, Kai my Starmie but Kai left to swim, Celeste, and Persephone.” She glared at her Ninetales and told Ken, “Don’t mind her she’s harmless,” she paused thinking of those pidgey analogies, “I think…” She had been acting all nice and smiling at him but she remembered that he was the one who didn’t call her anymore after being such good friends for a long time. She glared and huffed emphasizing her words, “It has been forever hasn’t it?” she paused thinking about the right wording, “I had been trying to call you back then but I gave up. Was it because I joined a gang? I disbanded of course. If you answered, I would have told you that. Or was it because I joined a band? Did you know that? I do have overprotective band mates but still, it’ll be nice if you called me back.” Sage didn’t know why he would not want to call her back but the fact remained that he didn’t. She hoped it wasn’t because he was jealous because there were so many things that could have made him jealous especially in the pokemon academy. Sage sighed, “Anyway, battle right? I’m using Zeal, my Bayleef” as she made space for the battle and made a face of apathy getting ready to battle. She still was mad.

Kenso stared at all of her Pokemon in pure awe. "Sage. They're all so beautiful!" he exclaimed. He looked at the Ninetails the most. "Your Ninetails -- Persephone? -- she's gorgeous," he said. He started to reach out to pet the Ninetails, but then realized she looked pretty pissed.
He frowned as she berated him, and it deepened as she continued. "Sagey..." he said. "I was so busy. My Uncle Zeke, remember him? The one that taught me all about Pokemon? Yeah, him. He was working me like a dog. I never had down time, and when I did, I slept. I always tried to answer your calls, but he would take my phone and force me into another battle. I'm so sorry," he said. Tears slightly formed in his eyes, and he walked up to his old friend. He gave her a big hug, squeezing her tight against him as if he would never let go. "Do you forgive me?" he asked as he backed away.
"Right. Sorry. Battle. Uh... Bushou! Step on up!" he said. He knelt down and fist-bumped his Slakoth as it walked by him. "Bushou was my starter," Kenso said with a face reminiscent of a :3. "Ladies first, Sage."

When Ken asked for forgiveness, Sage trailed off as she pondered if it were just excuses, “I guess so.” Persephone spoke up sharply, “Every single day his uncle took his phone away huh? Mistress, there were so many chances for him to call you. For example, right before he went to sleep, he could have tried to call you. That’s one example out of many. Think about it.” She’s right. His uncle couldn’t have been stopping him from using the phone all the time. He would have to be following him everywhere. Sage paused and continued, “There were so many chances Ken. I’ll think about it actually.” She put her hair behind her ear and said as a matter of fact, “Honestly, I’ve changed. I’m not as naïve and nice as I used to be. Just letting you know Ken.”
She observed his Slakoth closely and mumbled, “Looks fairly new but strong.” And heard Persephone say, “Let me fight that weakling!” Sage sighed and said out loud this time, “He’s not a weakling. He just needs some time to catch up you know?” Sage added, "Mostly to you." Persephone can be a tad bit blunt though she could actually back it up if she was ordered to do so. Sage didn't want to say it but the rest of her party pokemon still needed much more training. She turned to Ken, “Sorry about that. Me and Persephone can telepathically communicate with each other,” she continued ignoring her huffing Ninetales, “I’ll also be using my starter, Zeal. Ladies first huh? You won’t regret it Ken” as she winked at him. She watched as Zeal stood proudly in front of her with eyes of determination. Sage grinned and ordered, “Safeguard!” as Zeal glowed green protecting him from status ailments for a few turns. She hoped that would help. Sage continued, “Magical Leaf!” as magical leaves zoomed closer and closer toward the Slakoth. She wanted to size up her opponent before going all out.

Kenso pouted his bottom lip out. "Sage, I'm so sorry. I could have, but I was too dumb to. I missed you like crazy, I can promise you that. Sage, you were the reason that I kept going. I wanted to catch up to you. I wanted to prove myself to you. I still want to catch up to you. I still want to prove myself to you. You have to believe, Sage," he said. He knew she was mad, and he couldn't bring himself to look at her.
"Bushou, take the hit. Then use a Slack Off to rest up a bit, and finally roll in with a Chip Away," he said. The Slakoth guarded his face as the leaves hit. He curled up on the ground to regain some health, then rolled towards the Bayleef. Once in close proximity, he leapt up, a claw raised in hopes of striking the Pokemon.

Sage said, "We'll talk about this after. Battle." Damn. She and Zeal just wasted a perfectly good attack. It had hit the Slakoth but it had regained his health using Slack Off right after. What should she do now? But before she could do anything, the Slakoth used Chip Away and the best status counter for it was reflect; which would half the damage Zeal would have to take. She would heal him later anyway. She ordered, “Zeal Reflect!” as a light defended him somewhat from the damage. At least it would half the damage. Next she called out, “Charge at the Slakoth! Toxic Now!” as Zeal sent out a thick purple substance at the Slakoth and not letting the Slakoth out of his sight. Sage hoped it would hit the Slakoth to do what she wanted Zeal to accomplishsince Zeal was already so close to the Slakoth.

"Bushou, dodge and then go in with a Flail," Kenso said. The Slakoth attempted to dodge the Toxic, but failed and was poisoned. Kenso sighed at his foolish mistake.
He realized his saving grace, though. The Bayleef was close enough that there was a better chance of hitting it with Flail. Bushou stood up from the Toxic strike, and leapt at the Bayleef, his arms flailing. "Sage, I'm sorry," Kenso said quietly.

Sage watched the Slakoth being badly poisoned by Zeal’s attack of Toxic. Every turn, the poison in the Slakoth’s system would increase every turn and the pokemon would become more and more damaged. She heard Ken order his Slakoth to use Flail. Why would he order his pokemon to use flail? His pokemon was hardly damaged. He had regained his pokemon’s health and Sage had only poisoned his Slakoth though the poison would get worse every turn. She guessed that the Flail would hardly do damage but she didn’t want to take her chances, Zeal was twice as fast as the Slakoth so she had a chance to get Zeal away. She ordered, “Magical Leaf Tackle!” as Zeal sent out magical leaves at the Slakoth and gained some distance using tackle. Reflect protected him and the magical leaves were used as defense. Some of the leaves were cut down but Zeal was already farther away, He finally was a few feet away and soon enough, Sage ordered, “Safeguard!” as Zeal glowed green and protected him status ailments once again. Sage continued, “Ken, in every turn—your Slakoth will be more and more poisoned until he eventually faints. Good luck!” Since Zeal was twice as fast as the Slakoth and had reflect still on, he had a good chance of dodging and keeping distance away from the Slakoth.

Kenso nodded. He knew what was going down. "I smell what you're steppin' in, Sage. Don't get me wrong," he said, a playful smirk across his face.
"I remember when you were extremely ticklish. You wouldn't be able to talk for what seemed like ever. You never were able to get me to stop. Are you still like that?" he asked. He didn't really have a reason for the question. It, honestly, had just popped up in his head.
Bushou flinched as health was drained from him. He wasn't going to let Kenso down, though.
"Bushou! Let the Magical Leaf hit, then use another Slack Off!" Kenso said.
Bushou once again took the hit from Magical Leaf. He felt kind of dizzy, but he soon laid down and rested quickly. He stood back up and felt better. He flinched as more health was drained from him.

What was he trying to get at with his smug look at her. It seemed like he was mocking her somehow. Don’t get her wrong, she did like Kenso in a way. He was nice company and had a soothing calming presence helping her reach a sort of solace. But that was before. It has been a long while since she last saw him. She remembered him as the skinny maroon eyed kid who was very shy and needed protection when things got rough but now, he seemed more confident. It made Sage’s eyes widened realizing not only that she was the one who changed—he changed as well. But he was still her kid brother and nothing could change that. Sage frowned wondering what were his motives, “What are you trying to get at Ken?” obviously irritated. But he continued instead talking of memories they shared together. She hadn’t been tickled for a while it seemed though her bandmates did it on a daily basis especially when she seemed so serious or nervous. They had joked around saying it relieves tension. It did actually help. They explained to her on their first gig that she was stiff and too nervous thus, a tickling session was one of the ways to loosen her up. She remembered those times when Ken tickled her so much that she couldn’t retaliate back. Was she still like that? Unfortunately she still was. She blushed as she put stray strands of hair behind her ear, “Yeah I guess I am.”
Finally the battle was getting on its way again. Zeal seemed to be put off in irritation probably because Sage was doing more talking than actually battling. She watched cautiously as the Slakoth looked like he was feeling more and more pain based on his injured looking facial expressions. Toxic would only do more and more damage each turn. Sage hummed to herself muttering, “I wonder…” She thought pensively if she should be the offensive or stay on the defensive for the rest of the battle. Her Bayleef, Zeal was twice as fast as the Slakoth thus, Zeal might be likely to dodge physical attacks from the Slakoth. Either way, magical leaf would aim directly at the Slakoth regardless of how far he would be. But she’ll figure that out later. She had to watch out for that Flail attack sooner or later since the Slakoth was already losing HP. She watched as the Slakoth took the Magical Leaf attack, got hurt, but then used Slack off to recover. Well, that was downer. But regardless, Toxic would do more damage anyway seeing the Slakoth flinch from the pain. Sage directed Zeal to use Synthesis recovering his health as well as he glowed green and faded once he was recovered. She then ordered, “Reflect!” as a barrier was created that would half the damage from physical attacks. She verbalized her thoughts, “Keep your distance Zeal!” and added, “Magical Leaf!” as he charged farther from the Slakoth, while using Magical leaf zooming at the Slakoth. Sage and Zeal needed time.

Kenso sighed. This wasn't going as expected. He knew she would be stronger than him, but damn, not this strong. Kenso made a >.< face.
He noted her blushing. "Awww. I haven't seen you blush in a while," he said. A weak smile played his lips. "I forgot how adorable it was."
Bushou took the Magical Leaf once more. Kenso sighed as his mind reeled through opportunities. The Bayleef was distancing itself from him. Kenso knew Bushou had an attack that was virtually impossible to avoid. Ah, what was it?
Aha!
"Bushou!" Kenso yelled out. "Use Faint Attack!" The Slakoth flinched from his poisoning, but managed to get enough strength to charge and lunge at the Bayleef.
"Sage, can I ask you something? Well, as you know, I'm gonna ask whether you want me to or not. But... What was your favorite memory you had with me? I've always wanted to know this."

Sure.” Was he trying to make her lose concentration on the battle? Was that why he was bringing up past memories? But anyway, she watched as the magical leaf attack hit the Slakoth once again. The poison effects of the toxic move on the slakoth must be getting worse each turn. Probably the Slakoth would faint soon. The Slack off move seemed to just be stalling it but still, each turn—the poison would hurt more and more. And that probably makes the recovery hurt. Recover then lose much more health. Unless Ken had an antidote, Slakoth would probably succumb to the effects soon. She heard Ken order his Slakoth to use Faint Attack and after reading about it, knew it was just another variation of Zeal’s Magical Leaf Attack. She watched the Slakoth begin to charge at her Bayleef though the charging seemed slower compared to when Zeal charges. Sage ordered Zeal, “Magical leaf twice!” as Zeal sent out a cluster of magical leaves at the Slakoth. The first load of leaves protected Zeal from the Faint Attack especially that Magical Leaf attack had an attack bonus because it was of the same type. Good thing she went to the library to figure that out. As Zeal was charging back to gain distance, he sent out the second wave of Magical Leaves at the Slakoth once again. When Ken had asked that question of what was her favorite memory with him, she honestly did not know. Most of her memories of him and her were too vague. She admitted, “I don’t know Ken…”

Kenso watched his beloved Slakoth fall to the ground. That was it. The battle was done. "Good job, Buu. You deserve a rest," Kenso said. The beam enveloped Bushou and brought him back to his PokeBall.
"That was fantastic, Sage," Kenso said. He raised his hands in defeat and walked towards her. "Sage, we've changed a lot since we were younger." He was getting closer. "I always thought you were cute when we were younger though," he said, a weak smile smearing across his face again. "But you're gorgeous now, Sage." She was five feet away now. "Sage. You and I have both matured a lot since we last saw each other. So I figure, now is the time I should tell you." He was right in front of her now. He gazed into her eyes and grabbed her hands, holding them softly. "Sage Ryland, I've been in love with you since we met all those years ago. You are the most amazing person I've ever seen. You were always so strong. You never feared to stand up for what you believed in, and I love that. We both know I was weak back then, and you always stood up for me because I couldn't do it myself. Whenever I had a problem, I'd cry to you about it, and you would just hug me, hold me close to you, and talk to me until I felt better. Those were some of the greatest moments in my life." His eyes welled up with tears. He was really nervous about opening up like this to her. "You never backed down without a fight. I remember that time you got in really bad trouble at school, and your parents were going to ground you. But you argued and argued your point, and won. Sage, you have no idea how inspiring that was." He bit his lip, holding back a few tears. "I love you."

She and Zeal just needed to keep his distance from the Slakoth and stall time until the Slakoth fainted. She grinned seeing Zeal walking back with a happy strut and also, a grin to his face on his accomplishment of winning his battle against the Slakoth. Seeing her joyous Bayleef, she petted him and motioned him sit down beside her. She waved at her pokemon who were lazily sitting down under the shade of a small tree, she called out to them, “Hey guys we’re finished! Come on over!” Her pokemon walked over back to her and sat also beside her with the exception of some of her pokemon sitting on her head and one on her shoulder. She giggled, “Off!” and continued with a happy smile, “Zeal won!” Her pokemon walked toward Zeal and seemed to be congratulating him with their noisy chirping and happy pokemon noises. Persephone was the only one staying still where she sat but Sage catch a small hint of a proud small from her Ninetales. She did care. Sage heard a feminine voice in her head that seemed irritated, “I think you should return everyone Mistress.” She replied a bit confused, “Why is that?” Persephone sniped, “Just trust me on this. He seems suspicious. I don’t trust him.” Sage retorted, “You don’t trust anyone that’s not me. But fine, I’ll do it anyway” as she returned her pokemon back into their poke balls. She was about to return Persephone but was stopped, “Not me, I’ll protect you” and Sage sighed from her statement and put back Persephone’s poke ball back onto her silver belt. Sage had replied jokingly, “Paranoid much?” It seemed Persephone didn’t trust anyone other than herself.
Sage got back to reality and heard Ken say that the battle was fantastic and Sage grinned, “Yup! It was fun. Never did battle you before. And it seems I have a new battling friend.” But she widened her eyes and was surprised hearing everything else he had revealed to her. She was gorgeous? What’s going on? And why is he coming closer? She heard Persephone growling probably toward her friend Ken. Oh my gosh. Was he making a love confession? Sage hoped not because she knew she didn’t feel the same way and thought of him as a kid brother. She warily watched him come closer and closer to where she stood. He was right. They both had matured. She realized not everything in the world was sunshines and rainbows. And he apparently grew a backbone. But it seemed so many other things had changed between them two. They grew up. She was the one who was always there for him when times got rough. She had hoped that he wouldn’t grow to rely on her too much. She wanted him to be able to stand up on his own two feet and take care of himself. Maybe it was a blessing in disguise that she had left to move in with her band mates. Ken seemed much more confident than before. They were only in their pre-teens when they acted so care-free around each other but they eventually grew distant. That time she fought with her parents? Ken didn’t know the half of it. She didn’t tell him the whole story. She went out with a guy but apparently his ex-girlfriend was jealous and confronted her. That led to her and said girl fighting during lunch. That wasn’t one of Sage’s best moments. Making her point? She lied. She argued with her parents going off topic all the while and about her parents not giving her enough freedom, which pissed her off enough to move out of her house and moving in with her new found bandmates—who were all guys. All platonic friends of course. She couldn’t help but feel attracted to them. They were such eye-candy. Maybe she should have told him the whole truth.
When he finally got close enough, she saw his caring eyes of his and wait? Was he tearing up? She had seen him cry before and she was used to it. At least he was trying to hold his tears back as much as he could. Damn. He said what she didn’t want him to say. I love you. Damn. Damn. Damn. What was she supposed to say? How was she supposed to react? She didn’t love him in that way. She didn’t want to hurt him. But she had to tell him the blunt truth no matter how much it would hurt him. She didn’t want to lie. Sage back away slowly and looked at him with regretful eyes, “Ken, I’m so sorry. I just can’t…don’t feel the same way you do.” She looked at him straight in the eye, “Please understand. You’re my kid brother. I love you in that way. I’m so sorry Ken.” She pulled him into a tight hug knowing that he might not want it. It was such a heart felt love confession and she just couldn’t return his feelings.

Kenso eyes welled up more, and he couldn't stop a few tears from falling. He had readied himself for this because he knew she probably didn't feel the same way. "D... Don't worry about it. I knew you wouldn't feel the same way. I was dumb to think you did, but... but I'm glad I finally told you," he said. He wiped his arm across his face, wiping off the tear trails.
He felt... crushed, in a way. Everything was cold and bitter to him at this moment. "I'm sorry to have made you feel uncomfortable," he said.
Kukky and Chomps pattered up to him. The Sandile nuzzled his snout against Kenso's leg, and Kukky crawled onto Kenso's foot. They knew he was pained, and this was the only way they could think to cheer him up.
Kenso chuckled at his Pokemon. How sweet. He laughed a bit more, and more. He looked up at Sage once more. "I feel like crap and I'm crushed beyond belief, but I gotta ask. Is this gonna make things awkward between us?"

Thomas was out for a walk down by the Beach with just a small team today. He wasn't planning on doing much; no capturing, no battles, so he knew he wouldn't need everyone out with him. As always, Tumtum was by his side, always curiously looking around. Trip, his Oshawott, was seemingly marching and attempting to look tough, much like the superhero he thought he was, while Blue, the Buizel, hung back, but only so he could trot and gallop to catch up. Blue really enjoyed being quick, he always would care to race over battling. Finally, Regal was above everyone, casting a small shadow on the group. The Wingull was still getting used to Tom and his team, having been traded from Speedy not too much earlier. Looking around, Tom noticed a familiar shape. Sage. With a little smile on his face, Tom turned his groups path toward the blonde girl and whoever she was talking too. He hadn't seen her in a couple of days, so it was nice to see her once more. "Hey Sage!" Tom called out in a friendly tone as he got closer towards her.

Seeing her childhood friend Kenso beginning to slowly tear up, Sage panicked not knowing what action to take because she did not expect a love confession from Kenso. It had been a while since she saw her childhood friend and she only had sometimes thought about Kenso. She guessed it was probably because she became too caught with her newfound freedom when she had moved out of the house and began living with the boys who ultimately joined up with her and became a band. She had sometimes wondered if he’d ever expect her to play the drums in a band. The last time she mentioned anything about drumming was when she first started drumming. He probably thought she was too girly to be a drummer. But right now, she was in a state of turmoil and confusion. She probably knew somewhat that he had a thing for her but she remembered that she decided to ignore his feelings and thought of feelings for her as only a phase that he was going through. But it seemed that phase didn’t pass.
She was still his good friend and she wanted to comfort him even though she felt awkward about this situation. What should she do? She didn’t want to lead him on or give him mixed signals. She really didn’t want to hurt him. Still, she couldn’t sugar coat how she felt about him. She had to tell him the hard truth as heartless as it may be. She gave him a warm hug and pulled back and replied with a small smile, “Ken, you’re not dumb or stupid,” she paused as she admitted, “Well I do call you a dumbass on some occasions but I’m just kidding.” She gave him an intense look straight toward his own eyes and continued, “You’re my friend. Nothing can change that. I’m glad you got that out. It’s not good to keep things inside you know?” But actually Sage did not want to know that her childhood friend liked her. It was just too awkward but what else could she say?
Uncomfortable? Honestly, she did feel uncomfortable but wouldn’t want to say that out loud. It might make things worse and more uncomfortable for them two. She didn’t want that to happen. She was already dealing with the backlash of the breakup between her and Laz and they haven’t talked to each other for a while. But maybe it was a good thing that they didn’t talk to each other after the breakup since she probably would freeze up and not know what to say. That would make her look like an idiot. It sucked even for her because although she was one who broke up with him, it made her feel like shit and guilty breaking up with the guy. To be honest, all she wanted to do at that very moment was to scream why did he have to make that love confession.
She replied back revealing to Ken what she knew, “Well maybe a bit uncomfortable but honestly, “ she paused and stated, “I sort of knew you had feelings for me but it wasn’t ever affirmed until now.” She wasn’t the type to lie to a close friend since her friends were very dear to her heart. The only times she would lie were when she was faced with a situation that would require to do so. But she didn’t do that often anymore. She guessed that façade of a fake smile would also be considered lying wouldn’t that? Her eyes were full of nervousness and palms were put into both pockets. She wasn’t used to dealing with a problem she never faced before. She glanced downward as she saw Ken’s pokemon beside him seemingly trying to comfort him somehow. She sighed and wished Persephone would do that too. And speaking of her feisty Ninetales who seemed to have concern in her voice, “Mistress.” Sage answered a bit distracted at the same time, “Huh?” Her Ninetales scoffed with a hint of irritation, “Don’t beat around the bush. Tell him.” Tell him? She realized Persephone meant for her to tell him that she doesn’t feel the same way as he did for her. That was the harsh truth. After hearing that felt like crap and crushed, she decided to take action before this situation would or might escalate to some emotional drama story. Awkward? Yeah, beyond belief awkward. Okay. Sage had tensed up hearing all that he said and how he must feel right now. He probably had that small hope that she would return his feelings but it was not to be. Sage began to explained hesitantly, “Ken um honestly it might. I really didn’t expect this from you the first day you came to the academy. I’m—“ and she heard a voice calling out to her from a distance. Was that Tom?
Saved by the Bell? Or was it saved by the Tom? Either way, it had stalled her from hurting him—for now. She wasn’t looking forward to the backlash of the love confession situation and her unfinished explanation that would most likely hurt her childhood friend. She glanced at Tom’s direction and gave him a nervous smile and response, “Hey Tom.” She didn’t know what to do with Ken. Why did he have to confess on this very day? She commended him for having the courage to do so and proved he had more confidence than before but why couldn’t he use that confidence on some other girl? Maybe Thomas could give her some advice on this situation? He was a guy after all. In the meantime, Sage’s eyes were screaming for Thomas to help her and get her out of this predicament to save her from this awkwardness—hopefully he would.

Kenso wiped away his tears. "Sage, just letting you know how I feel was all I really wanted. I know you'll never feel the same way," he said.
He looked up and smiled at her. Things were okay now, he figured. He heard an unfamiliar voice. His face straightened and he turned around in the general direction. "Who is that?"

As Thomas came closer, he looked to the situation before him. Hm, this didn't seem to be a very good situation. Thomas could guess that much just by how Sage looked at him. Her eyes seemed to be begging for help. Hopefully Sage knew this guy, or those pleading eyes could mean something really bad.
Thomas stepped closer and placed a hand on Sage's back softly. Standing close by her, Tom looked from her to the boy. "Everything alright Sage?" he inquired, looking to his blond friend. With his Pokemon standing around, Tumtum took to Tom's side. And when Tom finally looked back to the boy, he patted Tumtum with his free hand. "Thomas Faye, and you are?" he asked toward the boy. He hoped the touch to Sage's back would at least make the boy back off with whatever he was doing that was making Sage uncomfortable.
