Edgar was never a fan of sailing. The tumbling and wailing of the ship as the furious forces of nature slammed aganist the prow, it always unnerved him, made him uncomfortable to know that at any moment a massive wave could overcome the boat and sink all within it to a watery grave-- it almost never happened, but merely the thought that it could made sailing an undesirable thing. Still, the only way to get to Pokemon Academy from Unova was a long boat ride, as no airports flew to the reclusive island, making it a necessity. Of course, no one on board would have been able to tell that Mr. Roswell was in discomfort or that he was relieved beyond all belief when the ship finally docked into the harbor of the academy. All of his expression was hidden, not just by his black sunglasses, but concealed by the entirety of his exterior, facial expressions to little physical quirks.
"Mr. Roswell, welcome to the academy! And welcome back to the land. I assume that trip took more than just lunch out of ya', eh?"
"You know what they say about assume."
"Er...right, well the staff would like you to head up to the laboratory. We're sorry for the inconvenience, but I'm afraid it's quite a walk from here given--"
"Given my unusual arrival, and the relative locations of the harbor and the laboratory. Don't worry about directions, I took the liberty of reading over the map during the boat trip. But you can't supply me with some sort of transportation, can you?"
"Uh...hm...w-well uh, we would, but we didn't really have anything to spare for you so..."
"...right. Thanks for your time. I'll head there right away."
Almost immediately after he touched solid ground had this smiling blond secretary come to greet him. He looked horrible, and while he certainly didn't seem old, Edgar had to guess he was younger than he looked due to his overall unprofessionalism. Now, educational jobs were always stressful, but if this person was in the age range he thought he was, then this place most certainly didn't screw around...either that, or it just had shitty hours and pay. Either way, it was all supposition anyway, and he'd have to wait to meet 'the staff' to get a good first impression of this place anyway. Brushing off his suit, trying his best to hide his latent wooziness from the arduous boat ride, and began stepping off quietly to the laboratory. He didn't bother asking what the workers would do with his bags, he'd find out were to go to retrieve them after he'd meet with the staff. Lighting a cigarette as he began his trek, the secretary spoke up from behind him.
"H-Hey! I...uh, I don't think that those are legal at your age!"
"They are in Unova."
Simply brushing him off and waving his hand, he received silence in return for his remark and soon disappeared over the horizon on the long walk to the labs, shaking off his seasickness and breathing in puffs of smokey addiction.
--
By the time he had reached the labs, his cigarette was but a smoking nub on his lips. Before approaching the doors, he let the fag fall from his lips before stepping on it on his way to open the glass doors to the labs, exhaling a white puff of smoke just before doing so.
"Hello?"

The Lab The was as quiet as usual, no one there. Not a peep of sound. No signs of life were to be seen, other than the school nurse. "I'll be testing you." She greeted with an irritated tone. She was waiting for the day to be over, while she tested trainer after trainer. It hadnt been too hard for her, seeing as how she had pretty much figured out how everything works. She stood somewhat tall, in her red boot heels, and skimpy nurse skirt & outfit. Her hair in a bang & the rest flowing down her back. She reeked of lust. "Mm. A nice young man." She flirted to herself, mumbling.
"The balls contain three different pokemon. The not cards in front of the balls will tell you all you need to know. This battle will determine what dorm your in." She told him as the student headed toward the iron table with three balls. "Hurry up now." She rushed him a bit impatient about the matter.

The woman that greeted Edgar was tall, beautiful, and most of all, irritated, from the sound of her voice. Judging by her annoyance, he supposed his previous hypothesis that the teachers and staff here were worked to death or otherwise displeased with the management wasn't far off. Giving a slight nod of confirmation, his face static and eyes unseen, he slowly strolled towards the three pokeballs, observing the cards. He recognized the names of the pokemon as foreign-- which was to be expected. Unova pokemon, so he heard, were extremely rare outside of their native region. Adjusting his glasses, he picked the one perched in the center, the Gulpin. From the looks of it's moves, it was a poison type, a type not hampered by most common weaknesses-- an advantage.
"I've selected my partner. Inform me when it's time to begin my testing, ma'am."

The Lab "We start now." She informed, eying the student down, trying to hold back her nature of giving a friendly "squeeze" to good looking men. "I'll be testing to see what skill level your at." The nurse explained shortly. "Lets go, octillery." She pressed the button on her pokeball, gently while moaning its name. In a matter of seconds, the octopus formed from the white beam. "Oc!" It cried. She stood firm, watching it take little stretches. "Since Im a lady, I'll go first." She told him, pointing at the gulpin. "Use bubble beam!" She commanded in a firm, moaning tone of voice. The octopus of blood color stood up a bit. It adjusted its aim & launched the attack shortly after. Multiple smaller bubbles were fired off.
"This shouldnt be too long. Just give up boy." She told him. Iowever it was another test of her own. If the boy would stop there and give up, the woman would have the octillery attack him directly. She hated men that gave up on things so easily.

Hm...it seemed even in her stress, she couldn't help but come off risque. It was...eccentric to say the least. Obnoxious to say the most. Upon declaring the order of the challenge, Edgar quickly released Gulpin. The pokemon looked angry and tough, (well as much as a giant stomach could look), and seemed to be itching for a battle. Which was good, given the fact that it was in one. As the bubblebeam flew over to the stomach-like pokemon, it grimiced and took the exploding attack in it's full. Yet, it was a tough bastard-- it was far from done. Shaking it off, it looked back at octillery, read to carve it's name out in it's head. Edgar however, sighed at the sight, and shook his head.
"You know what? Maybe you're right. I'm obviously outgunned and out matched here...I mean, just look at that attack. Quite powerful. Incredible even. I doubt that any of these attacks will be able to match it. I mean, what's bubblebeam compared to-- Gunk Shot, Gulpin."
His voice suddenly turned from one of inevitable defeat to that of the sharp and brief voice he had shown before as emotions drained out of it. The purpose of the ploy was simple. The woman was obviously overconfident. If Edgar just played on that abit, she'd loosen her guard and be slower to react, along with her pokemon...thus enabling an easy and especially brutal hit to be dealt. Gulpin was happy to oblige, of course, as it furiously and suddenly shot out a menacing glob of horrid matter directly at Octillery, returning the favor that was previously dealt to it.
"Very good...Mr. Smith."

The Lab The test battle had begun. Nurse Butler's confidence higher than usual & her pokemon standing firm. The red octopus sat, waitring for a moves use. It had assumed the two trainers were oing to go on, back & forth forever. Oddly from blue, the opposing trainer just threw an attack at them. Their pokemon, gulpin, was quick enough to begin launching the gunk shot.
"Dont tell me he actually thought about it." She questioned mentally. "Well, use your water gun! Hoes through this swamp crap & then lock-on to the gulpin with lock on!" The nurse actually seemed into the battle. The octopus shot a flowing, fierce & fast stream of water through the river of gunk poison. The water gun splashed quite a bit when it hit the gunk shot head on. Being stronger than the tiny gulpin's shot, the water gun went straight through the blast, headind for the small poison type. The octopus would then use the secondary move, lock-on. It was getting ready for its next attack.

"Dodge out of the way, Mr. Smith. Then, yawn and keep on your toes. We can win this yet."
Roswell seemed completely unphased by his failure, despite the connotations it could have on the battle. Adjusting his glasses as he cooly ordered his poison pokemon about. Mr. Smith rolled quickly to the side, focus and concentration in his eyes as the water gun smoothly sailed over his head before yawning in a way that echoed about the laboratory. Internally, it was working up anger and ferocity as it glared sternly at both the nurse and the octopus, hating and being hated by all. Except for Edgar of course, who couldn't help but lightly smirk at it's bravado and readiness to brawl. Habits he'd have to have it kick of course, but still better he be overeager than placid and pacifistic.

The Lab "Oh my." Sim moaned. It was quite apparent that the trainer and gulpin were quite determined to win. The pokemon then went in with its trainer's commands in thought. The pokemon avoided the water gun with ease, most likely due to its height. But that wasnt the problem wasnt the fact that it was dodged, it was now a problem that the gulpin had used yawn. The move would put the already uninterested octillery to sleep. "Dont get sleepy octillery!" She told the mammoth. Though a quick thought ran across her head. Did he nick name the test pokemon? She wandered off into thought.
"Dammit, thats not important." She snapped on herself aloud. Returning her attention to the battle. "Oc..." The octillery nodded off into sleep. Despite being cooped up in its ball, the pokemon didnt seem to care for the battle in the first place. It took another good breathe, as its eyes locked shut. "Hey. Wake up!" The nurse got irritated, quickly. She then let out a sigh. "Maybe its over already..." She mumbled. She then looked back at the trainer. "Well, if the octopus doesnt wake up soon, you win this kid. And your real starter will be picked." She informed, crossing her arms. Though upset she didnt seem to care about loosing the battle. As long as her pay check remained the same.

Edgar seemed somewhat confused. It was already over? Huh, that was quick. Maybe he had a knack for this afterall? Who knows, he might well get good at this. With the mention of this being merely his /test/ starter, Roswell let out a sigh of relief in knowing he could have to train up this violent ball of hatred, but also one of reluctance as he'd have to roll the dice again and risk getting a pacifistic one. Still steaming, Mr. Smith looked as though it was ready to murder the octopus, and so he was quickly withdrawn into his pokeball.
"Hm...alright then. After you, Nurse."
Placing the pokeball where he found it, Edgar adjusted his tie and put his hands in his pocket before walking up to the Nurse to see where she'd take him.

The Lab "Well, you did good. And I dont feel like finishing. Plus you put the pokemon up, so we'll call this a draw." She said, returning the sleeping octillery. The pokemon would rest up inside the pokeball, for later uses. The nurse let out a sigh, looking to see the the trainer had gotten closer. She licked her lips, thinking lustful thoughts of smut & other things that shouldnt be typed.
The nurse didnt seem to care much & wore a careless expression on her face. The day was young but she was just ready to go molest boys travel the island or do anything of interest to her. "Well, here." She handed 3 pokeballs. Each one had a sticker of the pokemon inside. In each rested a spinarak, duskull, ducklett. "Pick one and leave." She told him, eying him down to leave. "Also put your gulpin back on that table there. You'll be in the yellow dorm from now on." She reminded & informed.

"Yellow dorm, huh? Not really what I wanted to hear. But it'll do. I'll be taking the Duskull, I think. Thank you for you time. I'd best get going then.'
And with that, Edgar did as instructed and walked out of the door, prepared to begin his stay at Pokemon Academy.
