Selene moved quietly and quickly, trying to hide the anticipation in her step. She knew that she was lucky, more than lucky, to be here, and she still wondered how her mother had ever come across enough money to send her to the academy. Still, she supposed that it didn't matter anymore. The important thing was that she honor her mother's name, and discover the truth about her father for herself. Even if she had to start at the rock bottom, she would be successful, someday.
As she reached the Laboratory, she took a deep breath before entering.

"A new student."
Tao exclaimed as he sat down on his directors chair. There wasn't really any room for fancy furniture here so Tao had kept the room spartan and more or less clean.
As the doors closed and the girl entered, Tao had grabbed five pokeballs from the banister next to him and stood up, straightening his suit as he did so.
"Your test shall be conducted in the following room, please follow me."

Wordlessly staring at the five pokeballs, Selene merely nodded before following the well-dressed man. Surely he couldn't be dressed like that just for her arrival... Was it always dressed so well? Couldn't be comfortable... But the thoughts about how he was dressed could not stay in her mind for long.
She ran over basic things that she'd managed to learn from pokemon trainers who passed by her mother's shop. Unfortunately, it seemed that most of the things wouldn't help... Selene could only hope that she would know what to do when the time came.
"E-Excuse me, sir, but may I ask what the test will be?" she said hesitantly, looking around the room.

"Your test is simple, child, rather, it's as simple as you can make it out to be."
Tao answered as he arrived into the room, his charge trailing behind him. Opening the lights, a stage appeared in the room, standing high and tall. Tao urged the examinee to go on the stage, giving her the pokeballs along with it.
"Your test is to get those five pokemon, all of them Squirtles, to create a majestic picture. A Test for Coordination if anything. There will be cameras watching and recording your every move and I'll be around, watching as well. You have a few hours to teach them."
Tao answered the question as he handed the pokeballs to the girl and went up the opposite corner of the room, carrying himself with a silent grace

Standing up on the ring felt strange, but with it came a rush of feeling, of energy beginning to pound through her. Was this what it was like to be in a battle? She could definitely get used to it. If only the test were actually a battle... Feeling the blood rush out of her face and her fingers go numb with horror, Selene could only nod. Coordination? Not her strong point. She took a deep breath as the man retreated, and fumbled a bit with the pokeballs.
"Well, let's get started," she said, a bit of steadiness coming back to her hands. As long as she was busy and working, she always felt better. The five Squirtles appeared with a flash of light, and she said, "Alright then... We have to make a picture."
She looked them over one by one. There was little, if any, difference that she could see. She swallowed, realizing she had no idea how to start. Desperately, she looked around the room for inspiration, but she seemed unable to find anything. The room was... just a stage. Closing her eyes, she tried to remember what the coordinators had told her when they came to the shop. The only things that she really remembered were the herbs and berries they had wanted for the ingredients for poffins and such, and that would hardly help her right now.
"Of course!" her eyes flew open, shining excitedly. One had once told her that creating the perfect recipe was like an art, just like coordinating itself. With this in mind, she looked at the squirtles again, more closely this time, seeing them and the abilities they could use as ingredients. She just needed to figure out how to put them together. "Well how about we start by showing me what moves you know? Let's see how high level you all are... If you can use Rapid Spin or Water Pulse, please show me."

- Stock Post - It'd be better to see if you can come up with a long enough post dictating what happened. Be creative, the sky isn't the limit.

The Squirtles all nodded, crying, "Squirtle!" as they leapt up into Rapid Spins and Water Pulses. Except for one little one, which seemed to be the runt of the litter. The small Squirtle sadly and embarrassedly shuffled its feet. Selene gazed at it thoughtfully, before nodding. "That's quite all right, little one," she said, trying to sound motherly, "Let's just use a basic Bubble, shall we?" The Squirtle brightened up and nodded, releasing a large stream of Bubbles into the air. Selene beamed, and she coached the small Squirtle, "Now see if you can aim your Bubble so that it spreads throughout the room!"
She turned away as the Squirtle begin to practice its Bubble, and looked at the others. "Now... let's see... You four all do your best Hydro Pump!" She waited and watched each one. Two seemed to fail quite quickly, only managing a brief spurt before the Hydro Pump was gone. Another spun wildly out of control and shot off towards a wall. The last one seemed to have the Hydro Pump down steady and strong. Selene hurried to help the Squirtle who had spun out back onto its feet, and she patted it on the head befor looking back at the Squirtle who was the highest level.
"That's wonderful. I'll leave you with the center-piece of the picture, a spiraling flower made of your Hydro Pump," she said, her eyes really starting to shine with excitement. "The little Squirtle will use Bubble, to give the picture a little more variety in texture, and the Bubbles will look like bits of moss on the forest floor around the flower. But of course," she said, turning to the remaining three Squirtles, "no forest floor is complete without its ferns. I want you three to use Aqua Tail to create wavy patterns with water around your tail, like ferns, around the flower." She began to coach them one by one, offering each small tips on how to arrange their moves in order to perfect their picture.
"Try aiming more towards the center," she suggested to the smallest Squirtle. "See if you can make your Hydro Pump just a little bigger," she urged the one in the center. "Alright let's take a break, and then we'll be ready for the final performance," she finally said.

"You have half an hour left before the performance. Please get ready."
Tao said through a microphone in his hand. The object twirled after serving its use as the Head Master poured himself a cup of coffee and even fixed the newspaper that he was reading about.
He didn't have much to do aside from watch the girl do her thing, which he did but time passes by ever so slowly and he was looking for a few more skilled people who seemed to just pop out of the newspaper.
"A small reminder though, this test would determine your rank. Try your best."

A thrilling mixture of fear and excitement shuddered up and down her spine. She swallowed heavily, but knew that she had to get this over with. She and the Squirtles had spent too much time with this already. It was time for this to be wrapped up. One last run through, another quick rest, and she knew she was as ready as she ever would be.
"Go, just like we've been practicing," the nerves made her voice a little quieter than usual, as though embarrassed to let the man hear her words, but it was still smooth and steady. "Bubbles first, with a rush. Now you can start slowing down... Aqua Tails, start small... now bigger! Bigger!" The feathery fronds of water moved in perfect sync, spreading around the center of the stadium as the bubbles began to lessen and float down to the ground, allowing them to make a more dramatic entrance.
"Hydro! Pump!" she shouted, forgetting her timidness of being up on a stadium. She felt her heart throbbing, and she pushed so much energy into her voice that the Squirtle sent a huge spiraling Hydro Pump into the air above the Aqua Tails, lifting several gleaming bubbles along with its watery petals like dew sparkling on a spinning blue flower.

The display seems to impress your proctor, at least enough for him to present to you the yellow belt that indicates your dorm. Along with it, you are offered a choice of three pokeballs. The first contains a Venipede, the second a Slakoth, and the last, a Blitzle. Which will you choose? Your Rank: Yellow Your Pokemon Choices:

Her heart pounded in her throat. She didn't want the Slakoth, but the Blitzle sure looked appealing. Imagine having her own faithful steed, bolted with electricity like a dark lightning storm... But the Venipede... it reminded her of home. The dank, musty smell of the cellar where they kept all their herbs hanging from the ceiling and various remedies on shelves where she carefully dusted them off. She nodded slowly. She wanted to have a steed, something she could ride so as to help her with her journeys, but not as much as she wanted to stay connected with her past, to stay connected with who she really was. Picking the Venipede's pokeball up carefully, as though afraid it might shatter any second, she looked up at Tao's face. "Thank you, sir. Thank you so much." Then she turned and left for the Yellow Dorm, the Venipede's pokeball being clutched tightly in her hand now.
