Yumiko entered the large room, she was wearing her usual get-up consisting of a skirt and a white T-shirt. Her shoes thudded gently against the tile floor as she walked forward step by step.
Her eyes looked around her. She was obviously excited, she was going to be given a pokemon, a NEW pokemon. She had played with pokemons before, no doubt about that. But this was a new one and the first one she would get here at this new school.
Yeah, she had a very good reason to be excited.
Her eyes fell upon a large cabinet to the right, it seemed locked, however that just peered her curiosity that much more. With her pigtails swaying gently as she increased her speed, she made her way over to the cabinet and checked if it truly was locked. Yes, it was. With a sigh she made her way over to the chairs on the other side of the room, she would just have to wait.

"A new student."
Tao smiled as he said those words, having wanted to test some fresh meat after having been cooped up inside his luxurious yet busy office where he had to do so much goddamn paper work. Stupid kids and their breaking damage. If he ever got his hands on those insufferable brats, they were gonna pay.
Jogging his memory a bit, the Head Master wondered what sort of contraption he should play with today. Knocking on the transparent glass oh so very lightly, a few ideas came to mind. Well, no blood no foul as the saying goes.
Picking a pair of pokeballs on the way down, the silverette opened a sliding door and headed towards the testing area where the student would be commencing the test. Taking out a very familiar remote, the man crunched a few numbers, mainly 5 and 1-6-6-6. With a flourish, the room came to life as several contraptions started appearing.
A huge pool of water suddenly filled the room as several hostile Sharpedo's were released to do whatever they want. Almost immediately they were fighting for dominance. A rickety bridge hanged over said pool as a pair of Litwicks were dancing around them.
A huge swing where a Seviper and Arbok were lying in wait for any victim that they might have as they slithered along the ropes. And finally, two landing pads. One was actually a Ditto pretending to be a landing pad while the other one was actually a landing pad.
"Time to get lucky, I guess."
Tao laughed as he pressed a button on his remote, allowing his voice to travel over via some kinda machine to the student waiting in the test area.
"Please enter the door on your left. Your test will take place there."

Yumiko had been sitting for about five minutes when a voice rang inside the room. She immediately looked around attempting to locate the origin of the voice but were unfortunately unable to do so. However the voice carried a message, an important message. It told her of the test and where it would take place.
Yumiko did not hesitate the least. She got up from the chairs she had previously been sitting on and walked towards the door on her left. Her mouth stood wide open as she saw what was beyond the door. Somebody either wanted her dead or thought way too highly of her agility...
"Wha... What is this?" Yumiko muttered nervously. Who wouldn't be when the first thing that you saw where a pool of Sharpedo's, and further away a Seviper and Arbok. In fact the least scary part of all this were the Litwick's, but her mother had warned her of those, they were more dangerous than they seemed. "Do you expect me to go through that?" She once more questioned as her hand, while shaking very much, gestured towards the obstacle course, her voice were unusually weak probably because of the nervousness. Somewhere deep in her mind she knew the answer, or rather feared the answer would be 'yes'.

"Nah, you're not going through that. That was just to scare you but sure, it's always fun to see students try and go through obstacle courses!"
Tao chirped happily as he stood up from his very comfortable seat by the benches that were supplied for entertainment. And by entertainment, it basically meant his. With a clap of his hands, the room once more shifted, as if expanding to make space.
"No, what we'll be doing would be a battle. In this obstacle course."
Tao said, an evil grin in his eyes as he gave Yumiko a pokeball and an index card that had five moves listed on it. It was obvious on what was gonna happen but then again, this should be fun. Using his own pokeball, the Head Master released an Aipom unto stage, who in turn wildly let loose and was already having fun. As such, Tao also gave the signal on what Yumiko was supposed to do.
"That over there is an Aipom too. This is gonna be simple. We start on opposite sides of the bridge and duke it out. You can use anything in the room and if you've had experience with Aipoms before, then that Index Card would more or less just be a guide."
Tao explained as he set his Aipom bounding towards the left side of the Bridge, already ready and pumping to go.

Yumiko got only a mere second of relief when the man in front of her said that she were not the one who were supposed to go through it, however he did acknowledge that he found it awfully fun watching students attempting to survive such obstacle courses. She were unsure on what to think of this person.
The man then handed her a piece of paper as well as a Pokemon. The teacher, she assumed he was, released an Aipom from his pokeball. He gestured for her to do the same. She pointed the pokeball to the designated area of release and immediately it opened and allowed a white stream of light to emerge. The stream took the form of an Aipom, after it had all been released and the pokeball once more closed.
The teacher, whom she still did not know what she should call him instructed her in what they were going to do. She quickly skimmed over the paper and realized there was only two offensive moves, both those required more or less a close proximity and or an item to be flung. This would get tricky.
Yumiko's Aipom stood there dancing all high and mighty on his little stage while waiting for Yumiko's command. "Ready Aipom!" Yumiko announced, the Aipom nodded slightly and replied with an extended "Aiiii" As it quickly and with great agile began to head towards the opponent. "Aipom, up close and Scratch!" Yumiko said, she had fought against Aipom's before but never with them, they were agile, but not necessarily strong, if she was unlucky this would become a drawn out battle, a battle were the Aipom would get hurt, she didn't like the thought of that.
The Aipom didn't think too much about it as it bounced and ran forwards over the rickety bridge aiming at the target. It was ready to scratch the opponent into pieces, it just had to get close enough.

"Swift on the Bridge."
Tao commanded as the Aipom eagerly followed. Sending a barrage of quick spinning stars, the Aipom had quickly leapt up and grabbed the support beam up top in order to stop itself from falling down into the dangerous pool of Sharpedo's below. And man oh man were they pretty hungry.
The two litwicks had held on for dear life and accidentally enlarged their flame, forcing the wooden bridge that was split into two to catch on fire. The opponent Aipom, the Aipom being Yumiko's, would more or less fall down in the pit of hungry Sharpedos or risk getting burned by trying to grab hold of the burning bridge that was cut in half. Refusing to relent, the Aipom, without Tao's orders had righted himself before letting another Swift out.
The fires were still far from him, giving him a pretty good spot for where he can try and snipe off the enemy Aipom and hopefully win this match. As the stars flew, they had all headed towards the enemy Aipom and rather than focusing on breaking the surroundings down, they were no heading straight of the enemy Aipom.

"Aipom, watch out!" Yumiko exclaimed as she noticed were the stars were heading. Yumiko looked with fear in her eyes as the bridge broke in half and the Litwick's fire started to eat of the bridge.
However, the Aipom was not scared, it feared nothing, and no one, it could climb, in fact it was one of the things it could do the best. But the bridge was burning, the heat was unbearable. Yet the fear of death kept it going through the flames, even though they eagerly licked his body. However a continuous onslaught of swift stars made the journey that much harder. Aipom couldn't dodge as easily as he would have liked.
And then he felt it. It stung like the broods of a thousand Beedrill's. Aipom felt his grip weaken as the pain soared through his body starting in his back. He couldn't hold on any longer. Just, one more... The burning wood slipped away from his hand as he fell.
Yumiko stared in fear as she saw what happened. There was nothing she could do but forfeit, a fate she would have done immediately had it not been for the slight flicker of hope in the Aipom's eyes only a mere minute ago. She tightened the grip on the pokeball she held in her hand and said. "Come back, Aipom!" Immediately the red-line were sent out onto Aipom and it transformed into the light that were commonly created when the Pokemon flew back into their balls. "I forfeit." Yumiko said as she looked down on the floor in defeat. She had truly been defeated, heck she hadn't even been able to put up a fight. She had screwed up, and she knew just how disappointed her mother would be when she found out. She felt her eyes watering a single tear making its way down followed by many. Defeat truly was a bitter taste.

"Sucks right? Losing without even putting up a fight?"
Tao asked, in an unusually serious voice. He wasn't really laughing at anything right now, more so he was focusing on the idea he would be imparting to his newest student. With a shrug of his shoulders, the head master also returned the Aipom to its pokeball before minimizing it and placing it in his pocket. He had already selected three other pokemon for the test but then again, he wanted to drive an idea.
"So get better then. We all have to start somewhere."
Tao reminded as he lobbed a black belt and starter kit at the girl. The Black Belt was the significant sign which basically told people what her dorm rank was. The Starter kit was basically a box that had 5 minimized pokeballs and 2 potions for healing. Inside it also was a Black Choker if the girl didn't feel like wearing the belt everywhere else.
"Keep the Aipom. You gotta make it up to him too, right?"
Stated the head master as he gave a wave good bye. Pressing a few more buttons, the arena would shift back to its original state, the head master then began to leave the student. He was expecting great things from this one.

The teacher half stated half asked if it sucked to lose without a fight. Usually this would be some sort of degrading remark made by an opponent to boost their ego, but Yumiko didn't really feel that sarcastic vibe to it, in fact it was unusually serious. Yumiko couldn't do anything besides nodding, she knew not what she should say or do. She just allowed the pokeball in her hand to decrease into its usually pocket-mode.
His statement thereafter was, well probably an attempt in fueling some sort of fighting spirit. He simply told her to get better, same thing her mother had told her every damn time she had lost. It was true, and she knew it, crying wouldn't help anything, only training would.
Then the teacher gave her the stater kit, and the belt. It was a black belt, her mother would be disappointed because she knew the black's were the worst dorm one could possibly end up in. The starter kit were more interesting however, five pokeball's and two potions with a black choker, she presumed the choker was if she did not want to wear the black belt. Maybe she should wear both? It would certainly signal what dorm she was in that much easier.
The man then stated that she should keep the Aipom simply to make up for the gigantic loss that SHE gave it. Yes, SHE! If she hadn't been in control of it, then surely it would have won or at least almost had a chance. She couldn't really keep worrying about that now, the past was the past, she had to learn from it. She nodded and said. "Thank you." Before turning to leave for the teacher gestured for her to do so.
(Finished for Yumiko)
