Walking along the sidewalks that outlined the campus, Rai became more energetic. He had scheduled an appointment for his rank up test. He'd never been any more relaxed than before. Since morning, up until noon which was now, Rai had been waiting patiently for the test to begin. His pokemon were all ready. Each one wanted to be used to take credit for having helped Rai achieve the next rank, but as far as Rai knew, only one could be used. The choice he would have to make was quite obvious to him. Though it wouldnt be to anyone else on the team.
Having stopped at a nearby bench, Rai would relax more than he already had. He was ready to get the test over with. He wanted to aim for yellow, but if he was offered silver, he'd gladly take that up as well. His partner would release himself from his pokeball. "Ambi." Alastair said calmly. Alastair & Rai were in sync today, as they usually are/were. Both were ready to get the battle started and over.
With Alastair being the pokemon that Rai received upon arrival, it felt natural that Alastair get to be the pokemon he battles with. As long as they remained confident & trusted one another, the battle was sure to be easy for them. Or at least not as difficult.

"Another student...damnit. Remind me to get another tester or something. I've still got paper work to do."
Tao complained as he threw a bunch of rocks into the air before catching them as he and Skynet the Metagross floated around the trees of the court yard. There wasn't much to do, probably go check on some other kids who wanted to get better.
As it was, there was another kid scheduled for today. Even went ahead and made an appointment for it. Diligent kid. Not really bothering, Tao had ordered Skynet to do whatever. The Metagross, with a roll of his shoulders, just floated down and sent a psychic messages towards the student the instructions of the test, telling him to prep up as fast as he could.

Rai would gaze into the sky. It was a beautiful day. Perfect for relaxing, so why stress about anytihng. Alastair seeemd at peace, though he always was. He sat on the bench, next to Rai, calmly just watching the sky as well. They both would blank out into thoughts. Nothing was any bit more important than the feeling of happiness. No one could disrupt that. As the time grew closer Rai would hear a voice chime in his head.
"Who's this?" Rai asked the pokemon mentally. The psychic type would of course answer the question. "Ah. Wait, is it time?" He asked once more. The metagross continued forward with his explanation. The tes was about to start. Rai & Alastair would have to sharpen up. "Thank you." Rai responded to the metagross last words. He had to do as well as he could to show off how much better he's become since getting here and how he would deserve to rank up. Hopefully he wouldnt end up like Ven the other black dormer who had been stripped of their rank and placed in the red dorms.
Standing up straight, Rai would begin to stretch. "Alright Alastair, Ive just been told by Tao's skynet that we're about to take the test. Lets stretch a bit." He suggested, doing a few jumping jacks and jogging in place. "Ambi!" Alastair happily joined, stretching his tails & arms. "Good, now remember. Just do your best. I'll try to do my best as well." Rai told his partner. The time had finally come, would Rai have made progress or would he have digressed? The answer was sure to come, as he straightened up his posture once again, seeing Tao in the short distance.

"Alright. I'm sure you know the rules for this seeing as stuffs been going around."
Tao stated in a pretty much I'm really bored tone. Nevertheless, the Head Master at least gave the guy enough respect to sit up straight and watch the fight properly. Unlike that other pathetic black dormer that got ripped of his rank.
And as per tradition, Tao pretty much let Skynet do most of the fighting seeing as he himself was still pretty out of it on how terrible these batch of students output is. With metallic sheen before an outright glow of its entire body, Skynet had already started the fight off with a 2 Agilities. Upping his speed by quite a hefty amount to help him combat that usual swiftness of a monkey type pokemon.

"Yeah, I think I get it. Besides, all that matters is how well I do." Rai nodded at the principal. "Thank you fo giving me this oppurtunity despite your busy schedule. Alastair & I will do our best to give you a great performance!" He assured the principal. "Ambi!" Alastair would nod, agreeing with Rai's words completely. Rai would then shrugg off the nice & kind smile of his. It was quickly replaced with a blank expression. Rai's face became lsightly pale, as his hair seemed to darken a bit. His eyes lost their usual twinkling sparkle in the light to and became more dull and lifeless. His blank expression gazed at Tao. The blond coordinator had entered his trance of pure focus.
Seeing the man use agility made Rai instantly go on the defensive. A speed boost would certainly help his opponent out greatly. The downfall was that Alastair would fall a little short, unless doing so as well. Rai's thoughts had sped up tremendously, while his face would lag behind and become very much a saddening bore. "Alastair..." He said with a bit of bass in his monotone & lifeless voice. "Ambi?" Alastair responded. "Shall we start?" He said with a slightly caring tone.
"Ambi!" Alastair stood in place, holding his ground. "Use nasty plot & agility." Ri said once more. The two tailed monkey would glow light pink a bit & then a light black aura would surround him right after. The monkey had increased his special defense and his speed two stages. "Ambi!" Alastair cheered, while the auras faded completely.

"Well, what are we waiting for?"
Tao asked his Metagross as he jumped off. The moment his feet landed and touched the soft grass of the battle area, Skynet had quickly changed positions, all the while shooting a Scary Face at the Ambipom to force its speed to diminish greatly or to at least return it to its original value.
With its increased agility, the Metagross had more or less gotten easy access with maneuverability. With that on his side, Skynet had repeatedly tried to confuse his opponent by continuously swirling in circles before firing off a wave of energy. The shockwave of Psychic had quickly travelled in the air and flew towards the Ambipom, hoping to knock some good ol' pain in its body.
Then again, checking his records, Tao did notice a few things. Mostly who the student was. Well, this brought his spirits up a bit. Raize Phoenix was at least one of those well regarded students. He had forgotten about the whole incident with the detention thing for a moment but when he remembered it, it only served as a boost in the kids standing in his eyes.
Well, the only thing really waiting for him is to see if the student had what it took to go up in a rank.

"..." Rai made no notes nor did he even smile. He would give a blank gaze at the incoming opponent. Its glare barely even reached him. His heart was currently cutting off all emotions and replacing them with the feeling of confidence and focus. He was finally ready to get started. Though his speed was lowered, he was sure that his original speed would help keep him going head to head for the time being.
Now an incoming blast of psychic energy was heading in, with good speed as well. Rai's thoughts & interpretations were now altered and more focused. With more focus everything came with ease for thinking. "Use agility to dodge." Rai said with a soft but calm and gentle tone. The twin tailed monkey would glow with another light pink aura & dart around the incoming psychic wave of energy.
Heading to the right with upped speed, Rai would add more to the commands. "Thunder." He said with a cold and distant tone of voice. The monkey glowed yellow, as multiple bolts of static energy would shoot forward at the metagross. Hopefully the attack would be stronger due to the nasty plot.

<"So you know Thunder...">
Skynet hummed as the sound waves travelled around some more. The glints of electricity that signaled the start of the attack had begun and Skynet managed to notice said sparks. With the abysmal control one pokemon usually had with this move, Skynet had managed to speed one more time with Agility and maxing out his speed stat.
The Thunder had hit nothing but the ground as the Metagross had dashed forward, his hand already radiating with some kind of energy. Heading straight for the Aipom, what looked to be some kind of close range attack became a feint as the Metagross sped to the right with a burst of speed. Farther than usual and for sure a close range attack wouldn't reach, Skynet launched his arm forward and shot a Flash Cannon at his opponent. The silvery steel move going pretty fast and at this distance, should at least be able to deal a glancing blow even if the Ambipom tried to dodge.

Rai gazed upon the field, now it was getting more intense. The pace had picked up quite a bit. The metagross had avoided thunder pretty damn well. He managed to use the increased speed to his advantage. Making Alastair faster would also be better but worse at the same time. His opponent would most likely just use another boosting move, so that was out of the question.
With a flash canon coming close, Rai would have no choice but to do what he could as soon as possible. "Thunder guard." Rai said with a more firm tone. Alastair stood calmly planted in the ground. "Ambi." It nodded, glowing yellow. Sudden streams of electricity would fire from his body & make a U-turn. The thunder streams would collide and spark up a powerful burst of electricity. This said burst would cause a nice small explosion, while it countered the flash canon. Alastair would jump back, avoiding any further damage from the colliding attacks.
"Nasty plot." Rai said swift & calmly in a monotone voice. The ambipom would glow for a bit with a black aura. This would increase the thunder's strength. Seeing as how Alastair's physical attacks wouldnt be exactly useful, Rai decided to stick with thunder for now. Trying to survive was key to this. With Alastair having minimized the damage, Rai decided to keep that combination in mind for future use. Something they had made up on the spot was beautiful and flawlessly executed. But with all the energy from concentration used for it, Rai would attempt to keep the use of this to a minimum.

"Good to know you're having fun, Skynet. Here I thought you'd be more serious for a change."
Tao chided with a laugh as he saw his Metagross actually smile...somehow. Well, Skynet was finally getting his groove back on since this student proved to be somewhat capable. When he saw his Flash Cannon be redirected to an explosion, that was nice to see; students having actual tactics at their disposal.
Raising both his hands in the midst of confusion, the Metagross had shone his claws and used Hone Claws, increasing his monstrous attack stat along with his accuracy as he eyed the Ambipom and the surrounding environment. There weren't any trees to hang on to, nor was there anything to actually take hold of should something start shaking.
WIth a massive crunching attack to the earth, the Metagross smashed his fists into the ground and caused Earthquake, sending tremors into the earth as massive rocks began to deform the earth from the sheer force behind it.

Rai would stand perfectly fine & intact with the ground attack vibrating the area. "..." Rai said nothing to the ambipom. Alastair would stand strong once again to this attack.The monkey was thrown off by the attack, but managed to continue standing. This battle wasnt over just yet. It had really just been starting. Alastair would return focus & get ready for whatever Rai demanded next.
"Thunder." Rai was very monotone & straight forward with his demand. Ambipom would begin to charge with a bright yellow aura, the static around its body would strengthen, thanks to nasty plot being used twice now. The charge was short & fast, Alastair was left glowing golden. "Ambi." It nodded, ready to react to the metagross.
"Launch it." Rai said smoothly, having the ambipom release the attack. Multiple thick bolts of static & thunder would strike forward at the metagross. The number of bolts seemed higher than before. "Ambi!" Alastair would call out, the bolts burst towards the steel spider. Hopefully this would land and do more than the last move.

"Hn."
Tao grunted as he saw his Metagross barely get through the Thunder attack. Thanks to his boosted Agility though, it was barely a grazing hit as Skynet was more or less still alright. Waving his hands around, as if he was trying to dry them, Tao looked up to his Metagross again. This should be enough.
Tapping his foot quite loudly, Tao had issued a none verbal order for his pokemon. Skynet, who was about to rush in a Hammer Arm for a final strike, stopped midway and allowed the energy to disperse from his claws. Shaking them down, the Metagross gave a grunt and turned around before floating back to its owner.
"You pass, if barely."
Tao grunted as he lobbed a Rank-Up kit at the Trainer. Said Kit had a Yellow Belt, a Yellow Choker and a Yellow Keychain for your accessories and a small Great Ball for good work on passing the test.
With the coldest set of eyes he had, which could even make the wildest of pokemon stop in their tracks when they connected, Tao looked condescendingly about Rai.
"Fix those eyes of yours, boy. You're a Trainer, not a Murderer."
With that, Tao turned around, a snap of his fingers and they were gone.
