DJ and his newly obtained Happiny laid back in the sands of the beach, enjoying their stay at the beach now that they had finally made it to the Academy and were set up in their dorms. The pink pokemon seemed rather happy as she ran around, true to her name. DJ himself was glad to have a chance to plan out his education and further training as a pokemon photographer and trainer. The two relaxed as the sun washed over they, hearing chirps of birds above them and the sound of crashing waves not far away from their feet.
"Pi! Pi! Hap!" His Happiny cried joyfully, showing DJ a small mound of sand, the baby's attempt at a sand castle. "That's great Happiny, really good job." The boy smiled warmly before a wave came and washed the vague mound away, causing Happiny to puff out her cheeks and put her hands on her hips in frustration. "Don't worry Happiny, we'll be here all day, just relax." DJ smiled as they both relaxed, keeping an eye out for stray pokemon along the beach as well.

Walking along the shoreline of the beach was a stray Glameow. The alley cat Pokemon was seen dancing with the rolling tide. It was looking for something to eat, but at the same time it didn't want to get wet. It looked slightly dirty, as if it hadn't been taken care of properly for a while. Would DJ and/or Happiny interact with it as it walked right by them, giving them an indifferent look before continuing on its way in search of rations?

DJ continued laying bay, feeling the warmth of the sun on his chest and legs as he nearly fell asleep. To keep from drifting off he opened his eyes and spotted the stray pokemon out of the corner. He wiggled a bit in the sand and sat up, looking towards the pokemon directly as Happiny continued to try and reconstruct her sandcastle. "Hey there little fella." He said in a gentle voice, making soft "Psss" sounds to draw her nearer. He was a bit disturbed by her condition and kept himself low and looking small as not to threaten her.
He noticed her actions and figured from her looks she must have been tired and/or hungry. While Happiny was playing blissfully unaware of the other pokemon, DJ reached into his bag and grabbed some of the food they had packed for lunch and a water bottle, using one of his lens caps as a makeshift bowl for the water as he poured it in, breaking off a piece of pastry for the feline pokemon. "Here, you hungry? I made it myself. I'm not exactly educated in pokemon cooking yet but I've had it and it's not entirely bad-tasting." He chuckled softly. and slowly inched the peace offering of a makeshift meal towards the cat pokemon.

Glameow, looked over longingly into the waters. When it heard the "Hss" noise of the trainer trying to get its attention, the wild cat turned around and made its pawed way through the sands. Taking a sniff of the pastry, Glameow screeched and let it be known that it didn't think it would taste good. Turning its nose up at the trainer and his oblivious Pokemon, Glameow began to walk back from whence it had come.
But what had Glameow been looking at in the water just before going over to the trainer? This Qwilfish! It got caught in the current and was in no hurry to go back out to sea. But then, a larger waves comes in and Qwilfish is swept up way ashore - there's no hope he can make it back to the water on his own. Will you help him?

DJ blinked as the cat pokemon turned its nose at him. "... I think I just got snubbed by a stray cat..." he said aloud, a bit amused rather than hurt. "Alright then, best of luck to you my fine feline friend." He smiled warmly as the Glameow went back to looking at the waves. He kept an eye on it in case it needed any further assistance, stll worried about its disheveled condition but deciding if it was okay enough to deny food, it probably wasn't too bad off.
It was then that his Happiny's calls brought him to see the Quilfish which had been carried to the shore by a big wave that had once again knocked over the pink pokemon's sandcastle, much to her dismay. But right then DJ was more concerned with the fish pokemon's well being. He didn't really know which pokemon could survive on land and which couldn't but he decided to play it safe and try to get it back out to sea anyway. "Uhh... don't worry man... uh, fish... uh... thing, we'll get you back out there soon." He tried to pick up the creature but was pricked by the spines as he attempted to grasp it. "Ouch! Son of a Beedrill... Don't worry, I'll think of something." he sucked his pricked finger as he looked out into the waves, trying to figure out another way to help out the fish pokemon.

About to walk away from the scene, Glameow turned around to see something that it could really sink its teeth into. It loathed being spoon-fed... what this Glameow enjoyed was the thrill of the hunt! Licking its chops and beginning to stalk back toward the Qwilfish, Glameow crouched down and prepared to pounce.
After the human tried to pick it up, Qwilfish inhaled air to puff itself up. If he tried touched Qwilfish again, he'd be poisoned. Scared and out of its element, the fish on land was only trying to stay alive. Little did it know just how hard that would be with a hungry predator prowling around just behind its dorsal fin.

"Happiny!" DJ called, bringing the pink pokemon over from her sandcastle to stand in front of the Quilfish as he spied the Glameow approaching. "Sorry buddy, I know you've had it rough but I can't let you eat this poor thing. Think about it, something washed ashore like this is no better than a handout, it's not like it can fight you like this." He looked at the fish as it puffed up, knowing it'd be dangerous to try touching it again.
"Darn it, Happiny, distract it with some Charm and try to keep it away from the fish." He splashed some water onto the puffed-up fish to try and keep it alive until he could get it into the water. Meanwhile his Happiny struck a cute pose, standing firm between the Glameow and the Quilfish to try and lower its attack strength as DJ tried to find a way to mediate between the two and buy some time. Hopefully nothing else would go wrong.

Glameow watched as Happiny struck her cute little pose, trying to distract him. Feeling slightly weaker, the feral feline was much more annoyed that this pink Pokemon was standing between it and its next meal. Glameow's nails exposed themselves and began to shimmer in the light and grew in length as it prepared to use Scratch attack. Screeching out its own name, the wild Pokemon lunged at Happiny!
Qwil Qwil Qwilfish. Bloop... bloop... I'm a fish. As water was thrown onto it, Qwilfish flipped her fins and tried moving, not really going anywhere at all.

"Happiny, meet its scratch with your Pound!" DJ called out, hoping to cancel the attack with one of his own thanks to the weakened state of the Glameow. Happiny lunged at the cat pokemon as well, hopping towards it and trying to meet its offensive strength and defend itself with a good offense.
Meanwhile, DJ tried to think of a good way of dealing with the Quilfish. "Darn it, why can't I think of anything!?" He kicked a bit, nudging the fish in the process. An idea crossed his head as he saw it move. His shoes seemed to mostly protect him from everything but a dead-on hit from the spines. "Alright Quilfish, sorry about this but anything's better than being eaten, right? This may hurt a bit but you'll be back in the water soon." He pulled his foot back and swung forward, hoping to knock the Quilfish back into the ocean where it could swim safely.

Glameow's claws collided with Happiny's fist, creating a crash noise before the two entities bounced off of one another. Meanwhile, DJ was kicking Qwilfish back into the ocean. The fish, although a little sore now, was free to swim back to its watery home. Glameow's meal was now out of his reach. MEOW! it screeched out before lunging at the foe once again. Now agitated and hungry, Glameow planned on making Happiny and her trainer pay. Fury Swipes was about to be used.

DJ sighed with relief as the Quilfish kicking plan proceeded fairly smoothly, though now his foot was a bit sore but at least the fish wouldn't become dinner for the cat pokemon. He watched as the Glameow scratched at Happiny, hurting her a bit more. "I see... no matter how hard you've had it, if you insist on attacking me and my pokemon, you'll have to pay." He glared at the cat as Happiny slowly recovered from the repeated attacks.
"Happiny! Use Sweet Kiss!" He called out, it didn't work against the Pidgey too well but maybe he could impede the cat pokemon from attacking them by confusing it. Happiny quickly dove towards the Glameow, kissing it with angelic sweetness in an attempt to confuse it.

Glameow could see Happiny coming in for the kiss and easily jumped back and out of the way; he was much faster than she was. He began to charge for the tamed Pokemon in an attempt for a Faint Attack. Sand kicked up behind it as it made a mad dash for the opposition.

"Happiny, use Copycat!" He shouted, not sure what the Glameow had planned but knowing if Happiny copied it they could mirror the move and cancel it out like they did with the Pound before. "After that use Pound again, try and hit it with all you've got!" He grinned as the pink ball used a similar attack to the Glameow, trying to get it while it wasn't looking as the cat pokemon aimed an attack of the same nature at Happiny. If that was at least executed, the Happiny would raise her arms again and swing down with all her might in an attempt to pound the Glameow.

Glameow was taken back a little when he found his attack being canceled out by a move from Happiny. And from such close range he couldn't avoid the powerful strike she delivered by using Pound attack; Glameow's chin was driven into the sand harshly. Opening its mouth wide, the cat Pokemon used Growl to try to intimidate the pink Pokemon a little. Angry and agitated as he was, he was still hungry and weak.
What beach is complete without a seafaring bird? Wingull circled overhead, watching what was going on down below. It was afraid to land with the hungry Glameow skulking around.

"Wow look at that!" DJ giggled, spying the bird overhead, watching the seagull pokemon and enjoying seeing it circle them. He heard the Glameow growl and was snapped back from his thoughts. "Oh right! The battle!" DJ blinked softly before his Happiny readied itself for another attack. "Alright Happiny, try Sweet Kiss again and hit it with another pound!" He thought it should be getting weak by then so if he was going to try and catch it, it too would be soon though he wanted to weaken it a bit more. Now that it was weaker and slowed down a bit, Happiny leaned over the Glameow and aimed another angelic kiss at it to try and confuse it before swinging at it once again for another Pound. DJ smiled warmly, proud of his pokemon as he also eyed the bird overhead.

Glameow's growl turned into a purr as he was kissed on his forehead and put into a daze. A bright light filled his eyes and everything became blurry... and then everything became dark, thanks to the repeated pounding from Happiny. Glameow lie on the shore of Sandstone Beach, unable to continue battling.
Wingull, seeing that Glameow was now no longer a threat, floated down to the sand and began to peck around for crumbs and remnants of anything that resembled food.

DJ grinned and gave a thumbs up to his Happiny for a job well done and let her lay back in the sand and take a well-deserved rest as he threw an empty pokeball at the Glameow, hoping to catch it now that it was unguarded. Once that was done (for better or worse) DJ eyed the Wingull, smiling at it softly as he spied it. "Hey there little one, that mean old kitty didn't want these, but you can have them if you want." The trainer smiled and pushed the pastry and water he had offered the Glameow earlier out to the bird pokemon. "There's more where that came from if you want." He smiled warmly, hoping to gain the pokemon's trust.

Glameow | Male | Rash | Limber
Wingull stopped as he saw the pastries being offered to it. Perfect: a free meal! Hopping over to the crumbs, Wingull began to peck away, enjoying the tasty snack.

DJ smiled, taking a moment to mentally celebrate the capture of his first pokemon as he picked up Glameow's ball and put it on his belt. He eyed Happiny, taking a small nap by the waves to recover a little of its energy as the student conversed with the bird pokemon. "You like it little guy?" He chuckled softly and pulled out some more food from his pack, breaking of some more pieces and holding a hand out to the Wingull, thinking it would be so cool to have him eat out of the palm of his hand. "You can have my share, I'm too excited to eat." He grinned broadly.

Wingull grew alarmed as a hand was held out to it - this trainer was getting too close. It's small stomach didn't require much sustenance, and the few crumbs it had eaten had been plenty to hold Wingull over until this evening. With a flap of its wings, the flying Pokemon was back into the air and preparing to make off. If the trainer couldn't stop it, it would surely get away.

DJ sighed and shook his head as the Wingull flew away, there was no way he could go after it to try and catch it without any kind of flying machine. He packed his unused lunch away and called Happiny over, pulling out a potion from his pack, one of two the school gave him right off the bat. He squirted the potion at the Happiny, causing her to recoil a bit from the sting but in moments the injuries from the Glameow attack were healed. "Come on Joy, we'll see what else is down the beach and have our picnic." He smiled warmly, picking up the pack and walking.
After a fair distance had passed, they sat down and spread out a blanket, pulling out their lunch on the sandy shores. He handed Happiny her baby-sized portion and began to eat what the Wingull had not already mooched from him. The two hoped to see one more pokemon on their little excursion, maybe their luck would be better this time. Though even if nothing came they were glad to have that time to spend together picnicking on the beach.

Wingull flew over the boy and his Happiny. Wingull! it cawed out, thanking them for the snack before flying out over the ocean toward the horizon.

DJ smiled as he and Joy spotted the Wingull flying away, apparently out of gratitude for the meal. He chuckled softly, glad he had been gentle with it and it was now happy. "You're welcome!" He shouted back, him and his Happiny waving lightly and laughing softly as they watched the horizon.
