"You think anyone's gonna be coming up here?"
The red head yawned as the nocturnal light of the moon began to flood the uncharted path of the mountain. The trainer had become rather bored of the days events, already having had his fill and far more than his need quota for training for the evening. Even so, the scratches and bruises that hovered around his body didn't bother him as much as they would have before.
Thumbing the side of one of his bruises, the pain that kept shocking his nerves keeping him awake throughout the stargazing that he had allowed himself the pleasure of seeing. It was often that he could see these arrays of the heavenly bodies but rarely did he have the time to actually enjoy them. Sighing and feeling the numbness begin to take over again, the red head let it happen.
The burning sensation of his lust for power burning and even if he hid well enough from the general populace, that little thing still kept him going. Then again, his wants was not something to be idly called little as the flare burned brighter than many things. With a snarky laugh, the red head pulled on his plain black hood as his red and shaggy mane was covered away from the world with the cotton that made up the apparel.
Slightly raising his head, Laz looked up, directly at the moon as the pale moonlight faced him. There was nothing to see except for the light itself and as it continued, he could feel it burning. His trusty partner, the Gengar who acted much like his Shadow, appeared behind him as Kostya phased through the rocky outcrop that was formed behind the red head.
Kostya need not say his entrance as his trainer already knew and turned around to face him. Those black lifeless eyes looked so wrong and yet so fitting for that pearly white smile. Returning his crooked grin, the Gengar sat on the air which was at the same height of the rock on where Laz sat upon.
They allowed the silence to reign more as the stagnant air remained the same and the tune of the trees silenced as the user of the instrument that played the wonderful Melody did not appear. With a short breath, the red head pulled out a small silver casing from the confines of his jacket.
Holding it up to the air to examine the casing, Laz smiled at it. He was rather happy on the purchase and through threatening of the others who had seen him, he managed to smuggle the container within the school grounds. He admitted that he wasn't as good as Dante when it came to it but then again, he didn't carry as much with him.
Screwing the cap off ever so slowly, the red head swirled the contents within the flask before handing it over the Gengar, wondering if he wanted a drink as well. Kostya politely declined with a shake of his head, rather content with drunking himself in the silence that he didn't get to hear so often.
With a soundless shrug, the red head slowly tipped the flask over his lips, tasting the burning sensation within the alcohol that began to flow down his throat ever so slowly. The liquid drenching his tongue with its taste as the red head placed the flask down once more, wanting to preserve the drink to last him until tomorrow since he himself didn't know when he would be able to smuggle in another batch.
Capping the container once more, the red head enjoyed the taste that remained in his orifice as he pulled a pokeball from his belt, the black belt reminiscent of his earlier days in the academy. Eyeing it, the pokeball containing one of his greatest pokemon, the red head threw it into the air and played catch with himself, his attention solely on the pokeball, wondering what Vulcan was feeling being tossed around like this.
A small laugh escaped his lips as he wondered if anyone would arrive within the night and help entertain him with a possible battle or two. His pokemon were itching and his blood was boiling again. With a demented chuckle, Laz stared blanky towards the blank valley that deathly stood below him.

The Pokemon: Amor, Dobby, Cerberus, Persephone, Huo, and Rhett It was another training session with her three youngest pokemon, her Houndour, Darumaka, and her Numel who were doing a late-night jogging run up the mountainside of the pokemon academy. She pulled up the sleeves of her new burgundy hoodie since it was slightly big for her though she knew eventually it’ll get smaller as time goes by. She could feel the sweat rolling down her face but the whispers of the wind kept her cool throughout the night. The bare sliver of the moon had barely lit the night that she had some trouble seeing in front of her. Not caring too much about herself at the moment but more interested in pushing herself and her pokemon to the limit, she grinned, Come on guys, I know you can run faster than that!” as she began to run faster and faster. Besides, she did want to keep herself in shape and sexy. Well, she liked to think she was. If she didn’t think that, then she definitely needed to have more confidence. She didn’t want to have self-pity or feel sorry for herself especially about her body image. Her pokemon had several different reactions, her Houndour barked happily and rushed after her, her darumaka lazily kept the same pace as he did before, and her Numel huffed and ran away her anyway. Amor just wanted the food that came after their daily running session.
As she ran up the mountain trail, she spotted a gengar and a person sitting on a rock. Sage came to a halt, was that laz and was that his gengar? It was so late at night, what would they be doing out at this time? Out of curiosity, she decided to find out if she was right. She said to her pokemon, “Let’s go see if um my—I guess he’s my friend, is there” as she led them up the trail to satisfy her curiosity. Finally, she made it up the trail with her pokemon beside her and greeted the person sitting on the rock, “Um are you Laz?” She hoped he was. If that person was, she hoped to battle with him to train up her young pokemon. She continued, “Wanna battle? I’ll use these three if that’s alright with you,” as she pointed at her houndour, darumaka, and numel.

"Don't mistake me for him. I'm nowhere near as good as that Monster."
Laz stated, obviously keeping his identity different for the sake of amusing himself for the time being. He was feeling rather...different and wanted to enjoy the feeling he had right now rather than go back to a boring routine over and over again. He didn't even bother turning around to face the person and instead just gave another chilly laugh as the cold night air began to gnaw at his hands.
Also, Laz had more or less changed the tone and pitch of his voice to make him sound more feminine and younger than his usual self to elude the distinction more. As such, it sounded something like that of a fifteen year old rather than a seventeen year old man.
Though, his Gengar could've been a dead giveaway, Laz could reason out that the Monster's Gengar wasn't the only Gengar on the island. He couldn't use Vulcan though, or else he'd blow his cover and make this experience something less of a fun time for him. With that though, the red head belted the Houndooms pokeball again on his belt as he turned around, the shadow casted over the hoodie long enough to hide his hair and majority of his facial expressions.
Jumping off the rocky outcrop and landing with a dull thud on the ground and ready to fight. Well, his pokemon were. Laz was still acting like he wasn't himself and was trying to imitate one of the generic trainers around the place. Trying to tie down his mannerisms with the other people he's seen, the red head managed to make a rough out look of it and was good enough to pass for mimicking them.
Pulling out his Tangela's pokeball, the red head would decide not to go all out and instead test Sage on how well she's been doing with her pokemon. He'd try hard though, except he'd expect himself to lose more or less if Sage did keep up. Though, he might be able to pull off a win since there were so many branches around the place that the combinations seemed to be endless for the possible moves he could have Snake pull off around this place.
Regardless, the red head released his Tangela into the battle field and got himself ready for the battle.

Sage laughed jokingly, “So you’re a fan of this monster huh?” and continued jokingly, “Does he have his own fan club now? I’ve heard some guys made a shrine dedicated to him, I’ve even heard some wanting to marry him. I guess it’s true that powerful guys are attractive. Though those are just rumors.” The supposed not-Laz guy let out a laugh and Sage was puzzled. The laugh seemed faintly familiar but at the same time was not. And then there was the guy’s voice, it sounded too squeaky as if the voice was being forced out. She asked him curiously, “Are you sure that’s your real voice?” But then she decided to let it go since she was a bit tired from running and too lazy to find out at the moment. But still, there was that nagging feeling that the gengar looked very familiar somehow. She felt a gust of cold wind blow against her face but at least most of her body was protected by her warm clothes. But she did have to find Laz maybe tomorrow or so since she needed to trade her duskull for his spiritomb. What she really wanted to do was train up her houndour since he didn’t have any battle experience yet.
She saw him jump off his rocky seat and land on the ground looking ready to battle. He still had hints of familiarity but she ignored it for now. Seeing the other trainer release his tangela to battle with her houndour, she knew she had to be careful since it most likely knew some good moves that would affect her inexperience houndour in ways that she wouldn’t look forward. Her houndour, Cerberus stood in front of her happily waiting for his first real battle. Sage told the other trainer with a grin, “This is Cerberus’s first trainer battle so I’m looking forward to a great battle.” She hoped her houndour would win but if he lost because of his inexperience, she wouldn’t be too happy but at least he would gain battle experience and hopefully gain the instinct for battle next time. She started the battle, “Let’s begin with Nasty Plot and Ember!” She hoped he’ll be able to follow through with her commands but if not, she’d know what he needed to work on in training. Fortunately for now, he didn’t get caught up in the moment. He howled loudly to raise his special attack and followed up with powered-up bolts of fire from his mouth aiming for the tangela.

"Already?"
Laz said in his regular voice, the squeaky and obviously forced tone became more fluid until it deepened into Laz's normal and more charming tone. With his voice back to normal, the red head could do nothing but laugh as he pulled down his black hood. The shadows revealing a pair of destructive black eyes, who's narrowed stare could even cow his own pokemon into submission.
"You know as much as I do that I'd be worried about such things."
Laz joked as he commented on that part where people made and dedicated a 'shrine of all things for him. As such, Laz had to shake that rather odd image out of his mind as the breeze began to blow harder again. Enjoying the soft breeze smacking his face across the cheek, the red head rolled up his jackets sleeves up to his forearms and pulled out a cinnamon stick from a small case he had in his pocket.
The cylindrical stick of chewy goodness was coated in, guess what, cinnamon and was simply delicious. Placing it in his mouth like a lolipop, the red head looked around a bit more, to make sure that the place was good enough for whatever he was gonna plan.
"Oh yeah, we were gonna trade our Spiritomb and Duskull. Let's trade after the fight?"
Laz suggested as he patted around his black belt for Myst's pokeball, seeing that it was with him, Laz gave a small sigh of relief since he didn't want to hike all the way back to his dorm to get Myst just to trade it away. With that over, Laz then got ready for the incoming battle.
Though, before the battle began, Laz had an idea and would do it for the sole purpose of irony and nostalgia. As the Tangela then faced off a Houndour, a pokemon that Laz knew intimately and so much more for he himself owned a Houndoom, knowing all of its weaknesses, strengths and habits that were naturally injected into it due to its genetic make up.
"Say Sage, you wanna bet on the fight, for old time's sake?"
Laz asked he saw the Houndour already begin the battle with a Nasty Plot, that would take some time with how slow the veil of darkness began to spread around it. More than enough time for Snake to dodge.
"Snake, Vine Whip to the trees."
The red head commanded with his usual battle ready smirk as the little blue pokemon obeyed without hesitation this time. Being ready, the Tangela had quickly fired a pair of vines from himself towards a branch on the trees, the vines constricting around the bark as pressure was exerted all around it. Pulling himself up quite fast, the Tangela had managed to dodge the powered up Ember, for which sailed harmlessly and flatting out against a rock near Laz.
"Shower the place with Sleep Powder."
Laz called out as he saw his Tangela safely hang about the branch as if it was a swing. As the wind blew as well, the Tangela would begin to sway back and forth in a pendulum motion before reaching maximum height backwards. Blowing down once the breeze stopped, a cloud of Sleeping Powder would envelop the field and aim for the Houndour who had just fired an Ember. At this range though, the opponent should have a hard time dodging the wide spread status ailment attack.

She grinned in that her strategy to find out if the trainer was Laz or not worked. She was right. The trainer was Laz. She knew he would react in that way if it was Laz, if the trainer wasn’t, she’d be disappointed that her guess was wrong and she had said all that for nothing. She saw his intense onyx-colored eyes gaze right back at her. Those eyes of his used to unnerve her but now, she was already used to them. Not everything she told him was true actually. She replied jokingly, “I know you would. Actually, I’m not sure about shrine but I heard a small group of trainers were planning to make a fan club just for you. I was kidding about something wanting to marry you but then again, you never know,” she paused and began to explain, “I had a feeling it was you but I wanted to confirm it. Knowing how you would react, I told you all that. I guess I was right” as she gave him a grin in accomplishment of finding out his identity.
Then he reminded her of their pokemon trade and she replied, “Oh! I almost forgot about that! Sure.” It was convenient that he reminded her tonight so then she didn’t have to think about it later on. After they had both released their pokemon, she was a bit startled when he asked if she wanted to bet on the battle. She didn’t expect him to say that. She felt nostalgia remembering their first bet. She was surprised that the memory of that battle and bet didn’t hurt her like it did before. She responded, “Sure, I’m down. I’m not sure what the bet could be. But we’ll figure that out later. I just hope it’s not me making dinner like another bet I had. I really do suck at cooking. But anyway, let’s get the battle started, shall we?”
Right after her houndour used nasty plot, she saw the tangela used vine whip to attach itself to the branch of a nearby tree. Damn. Of course, Laz would use terrain advantage as much as he could. Already the battle was not in her favor. Her houndour couldn’t even reach the tangelo and unfortunately, had dodged his ember attack in the process. She heard Laz order his pokemon to use sleep powder. She couldn’t let the battle end now. She looked at her houndour and widening her eyes seeing her houndour run in circles in panic. Sage ordered hopefully her houndour would listen, “Cerberus calm down. Keep on moving! Smell for something different in the air and avoid it.” In order for Cerberus to be calm, she would need to be calm too. Her houndour fortunately stopped running in circles and began smelling the air and sprinted to a tree nearby tree to avoid the sleep powder. Once Cerberus felt it was safe to come out, he nodded at Sage and awaited for her to give him her commands. She immediately ordered, “Ember Smog!” He charged toward where the tangela was at the moment and released a twister of thick black fog and bolts of fire at his opponent.

"Just pull yourself up."
Laz hollered over towards his pokemon, the Tangela not even freaking out at the turn of events as he kept swinging around thanks to the Vines he had. It was easier than expected, with the Houndour only shooting at the Tangela when he was at the lowest point possible. When that happened, the Ember and Smog only reached a certain point before the grass type managed to swing back, relatively safe from the attacks before pulling himself up.
Flipping over the branch, his feet making contact with it and the vines steadying him, the Tangela was now on a prime spot to either zip line over to a nearby tree or attack with everything he's got with now. He was about to act on impulse again but Laz's voice, along with it's commanding tone, stopped him.
"Use Ancient Power before zipping towards another tree."
Laz ordered, his hands both in their pockets as he was completely calm with the fight. There was no trace of fear or worry on his face as he caught up with the plan. A small smile cracked off though as he saw his Tangela finally learning how to take commands in a quick and efficient manner, as compared to before when he would stumble for he smallest of things.
The Tangela, hearing the order, happily nodded since he was safe from the attacks. With a focused vibe coming off of him, the Tangela began to gather power from the ground. And even if the rocks didn't reach as high as him, it was okay. The needed thing for it was that the rocks from Ancient Power would swirl along the path way and make contact with the Houndour.
When the smog began to clear for the smallest bit and the Houndour could be seen, the Tangela quickly fired all of the rocks towards the Houndour wanting to hit it and get a critical hit before attaching his Vine Whip to another one of the trees and hanging on.
The green vines formed a rather sturdy rope, a line that could save the Tangela from a fate worse than getting a few of his vines burned. With a snicker, the Tangela watched as the bolts of fire would harmlessly sail towards the other trees and die out hitting nothing.
Taking a leap of action, Snake could feel the wind rushing towards him as gravity did its job and pulled him down. But thats where his vines came into play. The tight rope created friction around the brown bark of the targeted tree but the branch managed to hold on. Swinging as fast as he could, the momentum would once more bring the Tangela swinging much like Tarzan, the opponents back right for the picking.
Laz didn't order an attack though, the enemy would be able to dodge it if he shouted, and that was the only way of communicating with this distance between him and his pokemon. It was alright though, the Tangela would be able to take a breather and calm himself rather than let the joy of fighting get to his head. He was confident, he was calculating and Laz would want to win this.
"We should probably go out and get a drink or something. Also, Trade you my Spiritomb for your Duskull at the end of the fight?"
Laz suggested as he turned to his social side for a bit, warning Sage that she wasn't supposed to lose focus and that he wanted to get a drink. Not to mention the trade that they were supposed to do. With a sigh, the cold air breaching his skin again, laz only watched as his Tangela take his breather and calmly asses the situation to his calculated battle advantage.

With a bit of irritation and worry, she ordered, “Dodge it now!” Her houndour ran away from the rocks but no without being hit by at least a few rocks sending him all the way back to her. She bit her lip hard in more irritation and asked, “You alright Cerberus?” He growled at the Tangela who went to another tree. Well, in the case, he was injured but still ready to fight the damn tangela. She had to figure out another course of action. The smog and fire combo didn’t even do anything to the tangela. It avoided his attacks with of course, swinging to another tree. But what should she have her houndour do now? Laz then decided to interrupt her thoughts and asked about drinking with him and she responded sharply, “Maybe and yeah gotta get it over with anyway.” She was a tad bit frustrated over this dilemma. Maybe some status moves might help him out. Her houndour already charged toward his opponent but Sage yelled, “Stop!” Where he stopped was a good distance away from the trees and hopefully enough to plan something out. She hoped he could do it. She ordered, “Double Nasty Plot!” Cerberus lowered his head and let out two loud howls to increase his special attack power.

The wind had began to get stronger as the weak breeze had begun to form a small gust, as the thousands of leaves started to float away, towards the Cliff Side where the air had began to shift, creating a small nifty thing called convection. Higher and higher did the hot air rise up as the cold air would begin pushing towards the vacant space.
Laz smiled. The weather had already begun moving again and the breeze was moving towards the Houndour who was blindly rushing towards his Tangela who was still hanging by his vines up in the branches. The force was enough to at least let this tactic be used.
"Snake, use Torture."
Laz ordered, his voice filled with order and that indomitable aura he had honed from training with his pokemon in the harshest of environments. His eyes were gazing through the battle field as every piece was set. This move should at least push the opponent to a corner if ever.
As the Tangela heard the order, he was about to panic seeing as he didn't think he could actually pull such a feat off but that tone was all that he needed. With his Trainer's voice backing him, the Tangela grew in confidence as it stared at the Houndour that was preoccupied howling to increase its malice from Nasty Plot. Laz gave a disapproving click of his tongue. Such a tactic only works if your pokemon could get pull out the black coat fast enough. As such, it was at a snail's pace from the ones he'd seen.
And as such, a cloud of powder, unnoticeable from the distance began to excrete itself from the Tangela. The Poison Powder had began to swirl and spread towards the entire field as the wind began pushing it towards the stand still Houndour. It didn't stop there though, as the next thing that happened, the Tangela once more excreted another cloud of ailments. The Sleep Powder had as well, began to swirl and spread all over the field and headed towards the Houndour. In case the Houndour would be able to dodge one, the next wave should be enough to capture it in its clutches and hopefully cripple it.
The Tangela, after releasing both destructive clouds of ailments with the help of the wind towards the Stand Still Houndour, pulled himself up in case the Houndour had any bright ideas. He didn't know the complete move set of the opponent and was sent into a cautious mode, not wanting to lose what possible advantage he had that he could gather from his Trainers voice at least.
"Now now Sage, it isn't fun snapping at someone when they haven't done anything yet."
Laz said in a sing song voice, chuckling a bit at how his dormmate reacted to the happening battle. It was funny seeing her like this, getting the sadistic enjoyment out of it could never get boring. Watching the battle intensely once more, Laz already began making scenarios for the next moves he's about to make.

Cerberus wasn’t finished using two nasty plot moves yet since those type of moves would take a while especially that she had her houndour use two instead. She made a tactical error. She thought that by moving her houndour away from the tree, he would be safe from attacks but it left him wide open for attacks. She slapped her forehead in making such a careless error of judgment. She really felt bad about this battle since she had wanted her houndour to have fun battling tonight but instead, he looked all panicked and nervous. She guessed he was braver when his brother was with him but she hoped he would be brave for himself not for anyone else. If she were to lose, she at least wanted him to gain some confidence somehow in the process so he could be a better fighter in the future. But the question was, how?
Eh? She heard Laz order his tengela to use what? Torture? She sighed at the name of his pokemon’s attack and said, “Aw come out. What’s up with all these scary attack names? Your way of intimidating opponents?” She paused and looked at her frozen houndour who looked scared at all the powdery mist coming from both sides. She tried to encourage him, “Come on Cer be brave! Let’s do it! Smell for it!” He looked at her hesitantly and began sniffing and running away from the powder falling down.
She had snapped at him and he responded back at her with a teasing tone of voice. Gosh, he must be enjoying this. She responded looking frustrated, “Or maybe I do need a drink.” And well, he was doing something—beating her of course but she didn’t want to say that out loud. It would just hurt her ego if she did. She saw her houndour avoiding the powder so far but then she saw specks of powder land on his face and he suddenly fell asleep. Damn. Cerberus tried at least. After a few seconds of him not waking up, she returned him, “You did good for your first battle” and put his poke ball onto her silver belt. She sighed and looked back at Laz, “I don’t like losing but yeah, congrats you won. I rather not wait too long for him to wake up. Now, what were you saying about drinking earlier?”

"And there we go."
Laz smiled, the outcome of the battle he had been in was something to his favor. Then again, victories for you were usually good things. Either way, the short battle had finally ended, with three turns not even passing for each fighter as Laz had managed to get lucky and deal a good blow. As useful as the Poison Powder and Sleep Powder combo was, applying it into battle was something much more complicated than just aiming it somewhere and hoping for it to hit.
Laz had to thank the library, having been researching on things that weren't only about pokemon, the red head had tried to expand his horizons as well. Physical Science for beginners, or something like that. Laz couldn't remember the name of the book but it had proven useful to helping learn a bit more for his battle strategies and well, aside from Math, he had found Sciences to be intriguing. If he had some time, he'd probably go do some self studying or something.
The Tangela, after falling towards the ground, whooped in excitement and joy and happiness and swelled with pride at the victory that he had managed to grasp. He wasn't the greatest of fighters, Snake knew that but he was still glad to have managed to win. Finding out that listening to your trainer and trusting yourself was a big factor in battles, the Tangela resolved to work harder in the future to become as strong as he could be and if he was lucky, he might even get shifted to his Trainer's actual roster.
Hopping towards his trainer in exhausted exuberance, the Tangela tried to wobble back but had fallen flat on its face. Still laughing at the manner of how the events took place, the Tangela had become too tired, not being conditioned enough to keep going with such tactics. Looking down, the red head only gave a small warm smile of approval at the vine wrapped pokemon as he raised his pokeball and returned the thing back to its resting area.
Turning around, Laz held up Myst's pokeball and offered it to the girl. The small red and white ball shimmering in the moonlight as the clouds had began to part to allow the moon to finally shed some light in their area. Laz had to cover his nose a bit though as not only did the chill get stronger, but he was worried that there might be some residue from the Powders the Tangela had used.
"Trade first before we make plans. But really, why would we need plans? Just invite whoever you want and we'll meet up by the corner near the Night Club in the City."
Laz announced, as he just made up the idea on the spot since he was still reeling from the attacks he had thought of in the heat of the moment. Whatever it was, the night only held one last objective for him and that was to trade Myst, his Spiritomb, for Sage's Duskull, Rhett. When that was finished, the red head would probably go into more of an organized form of planning for the party by the Night Club. If ever.

After she had put her houndour’s poke ball back onto her silver belt, she widened her crimson red eyes as she saw laz’s tangela wobbling back to him and had suddenly collapsed on the hard ground. She covered her mouth to try to stop herself from bursting in laughter at what just happened. But it was just too amusing and funny. His tangelo was a really good fighter in this battle against her houndour. She hoped Cerberus will be able to gain more confidence over time with more battles. She noticed during training that he did have the fighter instinct with his fast reaction time and eagerness to battle. But she had no idea why he freaked out during a battle with another trainer’s pokemon. Maybe it was stage fright or in this case, battle fright?
Then Laz gave her his spiritomb’s poke ball to her and accepted Myst’s poke ball on one hand. She then took her duskull’s poke ball from her silver belt and was about to give Rhett to Laz but she couldn’t at that moment. Her duskull suddenly popped out of his poke ball and tightly hugged his favorite human girl. He didn’t want to leave the first person who gave him confidence. He took a peak at the male trainer she was going to trade him to and frightened seeing the tall dark-eyed figure in front of him, quickly floated to the back of her. She giggled at Rhett’s reaction and looked back at Rhett with an amused expression and pointed at Laz, “That scary looking guy over there is my friend Laz. Well he’s not that scary,” emphasizing the last part. She continued, “He’ll take very good care of you Rhett.” She hoped that would reassure him but it seemed to have the opposite effect and he popped back into his poke ball. She sighed, “At least we got that over with. Don’t scare him too much Lazzie.” She would really miss her adorable little Duskull. But she knew that Laz would be a great trainer to help boost up his confidence well, once he gains Rhett’s trust that is.
After the trade, he suggested that they go to the night club at the city and that they really didn’t need to make plans. She responded with a slight nod, “That’s true. Anyway, let me know if anything else Laz.” She released her younger pokemon consisting of her numel and darumaka for them to get some exercise. They grinned at her and were excited to finally be out of their poke balls even though her numel didn’t like running. She did like feeling the fresh air. On the other hand, her darumaka was still hyper and hopping in place. Before Sage began jogging back down the mountain trail, she gave a soft smile, “It’s nice seeing you again Laz.” Then she and her pokemon happily jogged down the trail and on their way back home to the silver dorms.
