"...hmph. If this prisoner B guy was so nice, then why is he in prison?"
Name: Yoshino Kanzaki Age: 16 Appearance: Yoshino is, first and foremost, rather small for her age, to the point that she looks at least a couple years younger. She only stands at about 5'2", and is quite lacking in the chest area. She has fairly long black hair, which she keeps tried up into a single long ponytail on one side, and brown eyes. Unless Sawaka is anywhere nearby, she is almost never seen smiling. As far as clothing is concerned, she is almost always seen wearing an oversize t-shirt and a skirt, though the color of said sweater and skirt tends to vary. She simply likes the look. In colder weather, she'll wear tights under the skirt to keep her legs from getting cold.
Personality: To put it simply, Yoshino is not a very happy person. She dislikes interacting with others and, while she never makes any effort to go out of her way and act like a jerk to someone else, she's anything but friendly. She also hates men with a burning passion, strongly believing that all of them are self-centered assholes whose sole purpose is to make the lives of girls and women a living hell. But rather than antagonize them, she simply prefers to ignore them altogether, and shows zero respect for them whenever she's forced to acknowledge their existence. To sum it all up, she is a cold and bitter girl who doesn't like people...at all. And she barely considers men people, so she really doesn't like them.
However, there is one person that she likes. Sawaka Yoshizawa. And by 'like', we mean 'extremely possessive stalker with a massive crush'. In fact, she is the sole reason that Yoshino even came to the academy in the first place. She generally ignores everyone else as much as possible, but is cheerful and affectionate toward Sawaka, to the point that she seems like a completely different person. And yet, she's also highly clingy and possessive of her. If anyone so much as looks like they're thinking of getting friendly with or showing any disrespect toward her, she will give them a death-glare that could send chills down the spine of Satan. If they insist on continuing, then she'll unleash her wrath on them...this is practically the only time that she actually gets violent with anyone.
Despite her obsessive and clingy personality, she genuinely does care for Sawaka, and would, if given the chance, would go to extreme lengths to make her happy. And even if Sawaka treated her like crap, she'd still be endlessly devoted to her. And yet, Yoshino lacks the social skills and mentality to convey her feelings in any ways other than acting like an insanely possessive stalker. Thus, what would otherwise be an innocent yet intense crush was twisted into a deep obsession. On an unrelated note, Yoshino is rather indifferent when it comes to training Pokemon. She never really expressed any interest in raising or training them, and the only reason she even came to the academy in the first place, as mentioned above, is because Sawaka did. But, she figures that, since she's here, she'll at least give it an honest try. Who knows, maybe she and Sawaka could grow closer by training together...
History: Yoshino's life was about as happy as she is...that is, to say it's not happy at all. She was born in Canalave City, a large port city in the Sinnoh Region. Her father made a living as a fisherman, and, financially, they were pretty well off. However, he was also a skirt-chasing alcoholic who constantly cheated on his wide. And it wasn't as if he bothered keeping it a secret either. However, her mother, a simple housewife, was too afraid of living on her own to do anything, so she grudgingly put up with it. This came crashing to a halt, however. Her father, having grown tired of his current job and pretending to care about his family, simply left one day. No warning, not so much as a "good-bye". He just left and was never heard from again.
Between the emotional breakdown of her mother and overhearing similar stories from the wives of other sailors, Yoshino slowly grew into a fairly pessimistic person. What definitely didn't help was when some of her male friends started acting like typical teenage perverts upon reaching puberty. Others would simply hand wave this as "boys being boys", but Yoshino was still bitter over the way her father acted before abandoning her and her mother, thus it only served to piss her off and fuel her hatred. It didn't take long...within a couple years, her overall trust in men was all but shattered, and she had become so cold and bitter that she could barely tolerate anyone else. And yet, there was one person.
To this day, she has no idea why this person fascinated her so much. She may have felt a faint connection, since this person seemed almost as cold as she was. Or it could be as simple as finding her incredibly attractive. Not even Yoshino knows. However, the moment she first laid eyes on her, Yoshino has been infatuated with Sawaka. At first, it began as a mild crush. Over time, it developed into a deeper affection. And the next thing she knew, she was watching and following this girl around as much as humanly possible. There were even some occasions when she gathered the courage to speak to her...granted, Sawaka brushed her off without a second thought, but this only served to intensify her feelings. Her mild crush evolved into an obsession, and she steadily reached a point where she stopped bothering to hide it...she continued to try and talk to her, growing more bold each time. And yet Sawaka continued to brush her off.
Eventually, Yoshino noticed that Sawaka had stopped showing up in the usual places she always found her, and began to panic. Not surprising, since the one person she actually cared for was suddenly nowhere to be found. After asking around (and falsely claiming to be a close friend of hers), however, she eventually learned that she had been sent to attend the Pokemon Academy, a school that young trainers attended to learn about raising and training Pokemon. That was all she needed to know. It took her a while to convince her mother to allow it, but, the first chance she got, she applied to the academy, and left her long-broken home to be "reunited" with her beloved Sawaka. She wasn't even all that interested in training Pokemon. The only thing that mattered to her was being able to be around Sawaka again...and this time, she wasn't going to let her go. Ever.
