Welcome To Psychic And Ghost Pokemon And Why They Are Banned.
Here at Pokemon Academy we feel attacks should be creative and fresh. Meaning, we take in Pokemon's psychical appearance into these. Not to mention the types of attacks.
Now, let us handle Psychic Pokemon. Psychic Pokemon have unbridled potential for god-moding. Since most of their attacks don't have a psychical channel, such as fire or ice, their attacks a nearly impossible to dodge. Thus, they are limited. Currently, one one staff member has a psychic Pokemon.
Next up are Ghost Pokemon. Ghost Pokemon are...well Ghosts. Meaning psychical attacks can't hit them. You need something like flame thrower, a sound attack, or a psychic attack to effect them. Because of their ability to phase, they are limited. Currently only one Plot Character and One Staff posses them.
You won't be getting one for you starter unless we feel there are enough members to balance it out, and you have a very small chance of meeting them in the wild and being able to capture them.
After talk among staff and members alike, the restrictions and bans on both Psychic and Ghost type Pokemon have finally been lifted! However, some things have to be and will be changed to ensure that the site isn't overrun by broken and overpowered Pokemon.
Firstly, certain psychic type attacks will now be depicted as blasts of psychic energy at varying intensities. These blasts are not invisible or attacks on the target's mind that are impossible to dodge, but visible blasts of psychic energy that can be dodged and/or blocked. These two attacks are Confusion and Psychic. The third attack, Telekinesis, will not cause the target to float helplessly in the air. Telekinesis will simply remove any boosts to evasion that a Pokemon may have had, such as Double Team or Minimize. The final attack, Teleport, will also work just like it did in the games. It may not be used to dodge an attack or approach for attack of your own. If Teleport is used in battle, it will Teleport the user, its trainer and all allies out of the battle zone and end the battle immediately.
Secondly, Ghost type Pokemon will function just like they do in the games. They can still phase through objects, though only for very short periods of time and never through anything too thick, such as the ground or the side of a cliff. Also, Ghost Pokemon may not phase through attacks that require physical contact unless they are normal or fighting type attacks. This means that attacks like Crunch, Bone Club, Aerial Ace and other non-normal or fighting physical attacks can damage ghost types now.
Finally, I will state that we will be keeping a close eye on these two types of Pokemon. We may add additional rules or guidelines to ensure balance is kept and abuse is impossible. With all that said, I hope you all enjoy now having access to these two types.
